Name: Kyra (Kii-rah), daughter of Grava, of Luca.
Age: 23
Species: Human
Class: Summoner, white mage
Hometown: Luca

Appearance: Kyra stands at 5’7”, with mostly straight, ginger hair that falls to nearly the small of her back. It is usually kept loose, or in a high ponytail. She has gray eyes, and with not-quite tan but not fair skin, speckled with freckles. She is lightly toned, somewhat athletic thanks to dance and walking, and a brother obsessed with blitzball. Lean, more than she is curvy. Has a single scar going from left shoulder to the middle of her torso, from a fiend.

Kyra prefers to wear loose, flowing outfits, usually in shades of blue, purple, or black – darker hues, in any case, and she likes translucent scarves, a carry-over from her plans of being a dancer.

Weapons: Butterfly Staff, the tip of it has a fiery butterfly design.

Notable Items: N/A

Talents:

  • White Magic: Cure, Cura, Esuna, NulBlaze, NulTide, NulFrost, NulShock, Protect, Shell.
  • Summoning: Capable of summoning Ixion.
  • Sending: Capable of sending those who have passed on.
  • Tying into that, actually a skilled dancer in a variety of art forms, as well as a skilled songstress.
  • Some martial art skills, taken from learning dance, as well as a necessity of travel from Luca to Djose. Also useful in meditation practices.
  • Cooking – after enough incidents with fire and Ari, it became necessary to take over the task.

Brief History:

Kyra was born during High Summoner Leska’s calm, which had already gone on for 70 years. Some were beginning to think this could be the eternal calm. She was born in Luca, to Grava and Kadi. Grava was a Luca Goers member, and while this sometimes led to problems (goodness knows cheating scandals existed, whether or not any of them were true or just publicity is unknown), it was overall a happy childhood without fear of Sin.

Kyra was able to get a decent education within Luca, and also at the Djose temple, where she thought to pursue a career as a songstress. Her mother, a healer of Yevon, saw no problems with that, nor did her father – though he wished she’d go into Blitzball instead, or at least be something of a cheerleader, he supposed performing at the games would be good enough.

Traveling to Djose Temple was dangerous, though. Kyra wasn’t a good fighter, even if she had picked up some martial skills at Djose that paired well with her dancing agility. She served better as aid to the guards…and her brother, when he got it into his head that he could be a mage. He had the aptitude, but he seemed to be stretching himself thin between all he was trying to be.

Still, they let him – and Kyra was always quick to put herself between him and anything else, when he faltered – resulting once in a terrible scar and a long stay at Djose.

She was certain, during that time, she could hear the summon…waking up. Singing.

She shook it off, of course. Went on with her life, and was planning to leave for Bevelle to attend a ceremony for a maester, to join an ensemble and make her debut to the public, after the World Tournament when Sin happened.

Her father was in the sphere when Sin attacked, playing off against the Al Bhed Psyches.

Her father died.

Her mother died protecting them as best she could, which wasn’t very good – but it was enough for them to join the crowd fleeing sinspawn, and get swept up in it, get to safety with others, and then hear the tragedy of all the dead.

Kyra didn’t go to the maester’s ceremony, but she told her brother she was going to become a summoner and make sure nothing like this ever happened again. Ari begged her not to. He didn’t want her to die, too. They’d suffered enough – let anyone else do it! Kyra couldn’t, though. She didn’t let it go, and for a few months, they didn’t speak. He was angry, hurt.

And she didn’t know how to approach him.

Eventually, he came to Djose, and said that if she got Ixion, he would be her guardian, and he wouldn’t hear anymore about this…following up with the news he was also now on the Luca Goers and the Blitz sphere was rebuilt.

Kyra didn’t want to accept it, but she knew there would be no changing his mind.

And she did finish the training within a year, and was able to call forth Ixion after going through the Trials. It was only after the trial was finished that she informed Ari, and showed him Ixion. Ari was almost immediately attached to the electric horse, even though he realized what it meant…and so he let the Goers know they may have to bench him – he might not be able to make it to many games.

They agreed, but didn’t remove him from the team – they wanted him back when Sin was gone, and they’ve wished Kyra well, even if doing so is painful.

Kyra has gotten passage to Bevelle, now that she is truly a summoner, she is going to meet a Guardian. She put in the request while Ari was upset with her, but doesn’t see a reason to take it back. They could use the extra help when it comes with fiends and traveling, not to mention someone who actually knows what they’re doing.

Name: Ari, son of Grava, of Luca.
Age: 21
Species: Human
Class: Black Mage, Blitzer
Hometown: Luca

Appearance: Ari stands at 6’6” and remains the envy of his sister for it. He has dyed white hair that he keeps cut short, mostly on the sides, and gray eyes. Naturally, his hair is actually black. He has fair skin that burns easily, but no freckles. He has a broad build, which often makes people wonder why he’s a black mage.

He tends to wear black, when given the choice, and has a favorite high-collared black duster with silver trim. He also tends to wear fingerless black gloves, and good running shoes. He also has a blitz uniform but he doesn’t wear that except in the water.

Weapons: A Crystal Blitzball, not really used for throwing so much as channeling spells – but he can.

Notable Items: A key that was a gift from his Al Bhed friend, Tika, with a promise to bring it back – or tell him what it goes to, if he ever finds it on his journey. He wears it on a necklace, usually tucked under his shirt.

Talents:

  • Black Magic (particular affinity for thunder): Fire, Blizzard, Thunder, Thundara, Water.
  • Actually rather notable endurance and evasion, can take a hit, but is also skilled at avoiding them.
  • Accuracy – good at throwing the ball
  • Luca Goers blitzball team member (just got on this year!)
  • He can speak Al Bhed
  • Generally good at repairing things or figuring out how to make something work (his time fixing up the Blitz stadium helped him understand a bit more about the nature of things).

Brief History:

Ari was the baby of the family, born son of a Luca Goer and with dreams of being just like his father – even if the scandals always had a tendency to set off his anger, particularly as he got older. He wanted to be like Grava, but was always something of a mama’s boy, and he was always trying to find the balance in that – from her magical ways, to his father’s strength and tenacity.

It was blitzball that won his love, though magic always fascinated him, he just wasn’t much of a healer. He ended up getting instruction in it, though – black magic – from an Al Bhed of all sources. He spent much of his time in Luca proper, rather than Djose, watching his father’s matches and training with his father, that he also met Al Bhed as part of the Al Bhed Psyches.

He picked up their language and made a few friends, even if his mother was scandalized the first time he brought them over. She still tried to be cordial.

It was his friends that started to teach him black magic, and he took to it, eventually tagging along with his sister and mother to Djose and showing he could protect them with the magic – and getting his ass handed to him more than once by fiends, and needing an actual guard to step in to help guide them safely to the temple.

It was the fiends that made him think Sin would be back. The pyreflies never sat well with him, nor did watching his sister dance to send them away after each battle – she wasn’t a summoner then, didn’t think of it, but this was still required, and still something both his sister and his mother had learned to do.

He wouldn’t have been able to explain why the pyreflies made him think Sin was coming back, or why fiends. In theory, there wasn’t a connection – none that he knew, at least.

He got better, both at magic, and at blitzball.

It was the World Tournament when Sin came back. He wasn’t yet a member of the Goers, but his father still was. His father was playing, in the sphere, when Sin attacked…and killed him. His mother was also killed trying to give them time to escape the Sinspawn that had been thrown onto their private box.

She gave them just enough, allowing them to be swept into the crowd, Ari pulling along Kyra, to a safe place where a summoner brought forth a grand dragon and wreaked havoc on the Sinspawn that Sin left in his wake.

They were safe…but Kyra still went to help the summoners with sending the dead. Ari was the first to hear that their parents were dead, but he thinks Kyra knew first.

When she came back to him, she told him she was going to be a summoner. He was adamantly against it. He didn’t want her dying, too – that was all that path led to, death. They argued a while, and in the morning, he woke to an empty house, and a sphere telling him she had gone to Djose to train.

He didn’t reach out for a while. He helped rebuild Luca. He talked to his Al Bhed friends about her decision. He talked to the surviving Goers. It was a period of agony for him, but he saw how it was for others, too. How many were impacted.

Though he is still selfish, and mostly wants someone else to get to Sin before Kyra…he realized he wasn’t changing her mind, and he was already losing her through his inaction. He paid a visit to Guadosalam, and figured out what he needed to do.

So, he made his way to Djose, and told her if she succeeded, he was signing on as a guardian…and then went right back to Luca to help the town.

It wasn’t too long after that he learned she had been successful, and he had to put his life on hold to help her save Spira.

So he went back to Djose. He watched with awe as she brought such power to life in the form of Ixion—watched how the pyreflies drew it together…he still didn’t know what to think of that.

They returned to Luca together, and he gave his farewells to the team, though hoped they’d let him play if he had to pass through. They promised his spot was saved. It was then on to Bevelle, to meet this guardian that Kyra had requested. He’s mostly okay with it – he hasn’t forgotten the days of getting beaten when he was younger, and how well the temple guards helped out.

Name: Lryhka
Age: 44
Species: Al Bhed
Hometown: Rusa; an island to the west of Luca that the Al Bhed are using as a home. Between Luca and Baaj Temple.

Appearance: Lyrhka has dark brown skin, with the typical swirly green eyes of the Al Bhed, and blonde hair that she has styled in dreads. They fall a bit past her shoulders. She stands at 5’ exactly, and has a lithe, agile build, well-toned.

Brief History: Lryhka is mother to Tika, and wife of Vundiha, a former player, now coach, of the Al Bhed Psyches. An intelligent woman and an ambitious scavenger, Lryhka is often away from Rusa to look through ruins and try to understand the technology of the past. She is also very outspoken with regards to Yevon’s machina bans, and sacrifice of summoners.

Needless to say, she was surprised to one day be met by Maester Bikkel, shortly after Sin had returned.

He agreed with her – that sacrificing summoners was not good, and that they needed to find alternatives. He explained that he would help to fund her excavations – though she could not mention where the help was coming from, of course. He would also find ways for her to venture into areas Al Bhed aren’t traditionally allowed.

She accepted in a heartbeat.

When she learned that her son’s friend, Ari, was going to become a guardian, she only felt more compelled to try and find another way. She knew both Ari and Kyra, and did not want them to suffer the fate of so many others, for a pointless sacrifice. Her expedition recently took her to Zanarkand.

Or really, just outside of Zanarkand.

Enough to see the Fayth wall, and find herself frozen with horror at the implications of it.

Knowing she is running out of time, she has decided to plan a way to stop all summoners in their tracks: stealing a Fayth.
