I'm simply one hell of a human

LOCATION
Plane wreckageThough the creature did not flee when confronted by the light, at least it had granted them an opportunity to see its true appearance.
But perhaps it would have been better if they hadn't.
It was hard to describe what Mikkel was looking at. Through the windows, it looked like a shadow, a contorted face hidden beneath the tatters of a veil—or was it hair?—and hollow eyes glaring back, each one punctuated by a faint, unearthly glow, like something dredged from the depths of a horror movie or video game. The guttural screech that erupted from it clawed at his eardrums, forcing Mikkel to squeeze his eyes shut and press his hands over his ears, hissing as the piercing sound. It was not an animal, that much was already clear. But could that be considered human?
Unfortunately, his worst fears had come to life. With a sickening crash, the creature burst through the window, jagged glass scattering as it seized the boisterous girl, pulling her with considerable strength towards the window. Of course—bright light had only provoked it; this thing was a predator. His fingers trembled as he tapped frantically at his phone, trying to kill the flashlight. Think, think, think. What would your team do in a situation like this? Think.
Mikkel sprang into action the moment Arvel swung his luggage at the creature and Yufan wrestled to restrain it. The woman’s warning had barely left her mouth when he darted to the window, yanking off his jacket in a rush—it was the only thing at hand that could cover it. Without a second thought, he tossed his phone onto a nearby seat to free his hands. Positioning himself at the edge of the window, Mikkel stretched out his arms to drape his jacket over it, trying to block the thing's line of sight.
In that split second, countless thoughts passed through his head. Where was his bag? An insulated jacket would have been so much better. Thankfully this one was of good enough quality, no light would pass through. He should get someone to hold one side and create some distance, he was too vulnerable like this. Wasn't a piece of cloth too thin? It had even shattered through a window panel, was this going to work? This thing was quite intelligent, would it leave just like that? Would it be satisfied?
Mikkel even half-expected those elongated fingers to tear right through the jacket, reaching blindly for anything it could grab with its free hand besides the girl.
...
It's trying to take one of us, isn't it?
The more his heartbeat thundered in his chest, the more his face grew eerily calm. Curiously enough, at this moment, no particular thoughts came to mind. Mikkel exhaled softly, a chill spreading through his body, and turned to Yufan, who was undoubtedly doing her hardest to save the younger woman while holding onto the creature. His gaze settled on her face, and with the composure of someone who was taking a walk in the park, he spoke, tone naturally persuasive, "Let go."
The window was uncovered and the jacket thrown right at the creature's uncanny face. As soon as the fabric obscured the two glowing pricks, the man braced himself, muscles tensing, then hurled his entire body weight forward, lunging right at it.
