Q: Can you tell me what an origin is in more detail? Or rather, if this is wrong? I'm assuming an origin is a major character flaw and can be somehow used in the mage's weaponry and magic? I get that kerry had his bone infused with special bullets, thus infusing them with his origin of severance. But I don't quite understand it beyond that and how to apply it here.


A: An origin is the basis of a person's existence. It's the impulse that comes out of Akasha that a person's soul is based around and built upon. Basically it's like the core of the soul. In magecraft terms, if the origin is strong enough it can affect your element. Like you said Kiritsugu has the composite origin of Binding and Severing, this means he has both Earth and Fire as his elements.
