Fate/Advice

I've watched the fate/stay and fate/zero series, though I'm not an expert I think I might be able to help. What is your question/questions.(^U^)

Excellent =). What are the dynamics? Such as Phantasms, class abilities, Prana, etc. Teach me like I'm a 2 year old

Overview

All right, the whole is basically crafted around the idea that there is a magical item called the holy grail that appears once every 60- 70 years or so and a group a magi (magician, wizards, warlocks....w/e) fight to claim it. To do this they summon heroes from the past or heroes of legend, to fight alongside them and once the grail is ready one of the magi are able to claim it. Once a magus(singular form of magi) claims the grail it will grant that persons greatest desire and then disappear for another x-many years. The whole idea is the grail has a mind of its own and not necessarily a benevolent one. The grail is there to grant a wish whether its a good wish or a bad wish is irrelevant. All that matters is once a magi proves themselves worthy, usually through murdering/ defeating the opposing magi, it's ready to grant its wish and bounce.

Holy Grail Wars

The Holy Grail Wars were established by a group of magical families long ago to keep the blood shed down to a minimum. Thus they opted for seven combatants, magi chosen by the grail, to be masters of seven champions. Each master summons a champion, that champion will fall under one of seven classes(Sabre, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Caster,

Assassin, Berserker) and these classes define each champions strength and abilities. There are some loose rules to the contest and usually a neutral party provided by the church, but people seem to just do w/e they want so meh.(-n-)

Servents/Champions

The Champions of each magus are summoned by a ritual or by pure chance, but when summoned by ritual a magus may use a historical artifact related to the specific hero they wish to summon to increase the likelihood that they will summon that particular hero. Personality also seems to play a big role in this whole thing and a person may be selected to participate in the HGW(Holy Grail Wars) without even knowing they have magical abilities. No hero is locked to any certain class, though certain heroes do tend to be of a class that could pertain to them in some form or another. Heroes have a mind of their own and a heroes goals may differ from their masters, to help prevent the heroes who a very powerful from turning on their masters the summoner is given a mark on their wrist/forearm. This mark is composed of three symbols of sorts, a master may choose to expend one of these symbols to force their summoned champion to obey them. This is tricky because it's the only real control a master has over their summon use this ability too many times and your summoned hero might just turn his blade on you.( :o )

Heroes use part of their masters magical energy to maintain their connection to this world though they do have some of their own to draw on they a pretty reliant on their master to stay in this world.Heroes will stay summoned until they are slain, even if their master is slain the summoned hero will have a period of time in which they can survive off their own magical energy and find a new master.

Magus/ the magic dudes

Not a lot on this subject just because I think it needs the least explaining. Magi or a magus is a person with magical abilities, it seems to be a hereditary trait passed down through blood lines and the stronger and more pure the blood line the better a magus is initially. A magus may train and work hard but there does seem to be an inherited natural ability. Magic comes in many forms and many people are just slightly magical without even knowing it, while others are born into magic families and groomed to become major bad-A's

If your lacking anything more here is the wiki and it should answer more detailed questions you might have

I love the Fate/Universe *A*

Yuuki of the Strata, I'm always looking for assistance. I'm glad you dropped in.

So I have seen Fate/RPs in the past where each character has their own stats chart. This way no one servant is completely overpowered compared to another. I have also seen similar to how elements (fire, water, etc), the servants may have a strength against another servant and then a weakness against a different one. It is possible to play off of that, just have to look over the wiki in more detail for that.

I do know on the wiki they have a list of class skills and almost like inherent (or learned) abilities that can become very specific to create custom character.

Here's the link to the Skills.

Each skill is on a rank: EX (excellent), A, B, C, D, and E. Some of them may have +/- depending on the situation. You could easily use these to help you guide what a character's strengths and weaknesses in battle and overall usefulness are. If there are some very particular skills you would rather not see characters have, you can state in your rules which are and are not available, or just list which ones are available.

Also, this may help figure out the concepts of each of the seven classes.

I believe something like this can help regulate Noble Phantasms as well.

As for accumulating Prana (magical energy, "mana"), it could easily be accumulated by means as easy as number of posts a person makes. Say they have slots for five different special attacks, each one costs a different amount of Prana. The simplest of special attacks cost 3 Prana. They would have to post 3 times in order to acquire 3 Prana.

( ;) ) I can already see we are thinking along the same lines. That is good! You will definitely help! I have to re-work some of Fate, to fit into an RP though, so there's going to be a lot of cutting, snipping, and remodeling. The Elements may have to be left out this version of the RP. Anyway, we will talk =)

Sure sure!

If you need a brain to poke at, don't be shy. =w= b
