Fantasy nations rp

So i had an idea for an rp where every person controls a small nation in a fantasy world.the idea so far is that each nation would have only one to two species as members of it, and the player would have a few 'main pc's' like major governmental figures that appear in most posts, and several minor pc's, that only show up when needed, and probably only for a short time. but yeah, the main rp would be the interactions between the nations as problems arise and resources/religion/disasters force them to work together or against one another.

i would probably be more of the "what's going on in the world" but i'd also have a nation i've been working on.

so if people are interested we would definietely need to get some concrete ideas formed before making the OCC

I remember an rp like this XP

I'd be up for it, though I'm not sure if I wanna revisit my old nation this time or not ^^'

old or new is fine with me, but yeah, one thing i think we'd need to agree upon is a simple magic system and what level technology is at, things like that

Magic isn't too hard to govern if you set up some ground rules for it. Like Harry Potter they need to incant the spell, in Eragon it takes as much energy as it would to act on the spell physically as well as the need for a spoken element. Just set up a set of requirements for casting spells and all is well. Technology I'd say would be up to the nations, going as far as steampunk I would think balanced personally; but this is your rp, so I'm just helping bounce some ideas around.

steampunk... i guess thats a good level of technological advancement, and i was looking for ideas of governing what is possible and what is impossible, and how active a nation's deities are. you know things to work with.

Well, just about any form of government is possible so long as the player rp's it right. A nation's deity/deities I would imagine would be more active the more they are worshipped, so in a nation ruled by a theological government with much of their territory pledged to their god(s), their diety/dieties would be much more active.

oh ^^'

Well, you can have just about any components you want really. You can force them to use verbal components, they might need some kind of motion to cast the spell, they may need some physical component for the spell; maybe they need certain weather conditions, perhaps it's solar powered, or affected by the moon cycles. If you wanted to, you could even make people come up with restrictions for their own magic, since they did discover it on their own. If they choose to have magic, they require a certain number of restrictions?

Of course these are just more ideas for you.

well also, if there are Deities with magic/no magic what would the Deities give to the PCs or nation?

Then why not add a scale or something?

The more powerful a nation's magic is, the more requirements they need to have?

@ blackwind

deities give a religious viewpoint for the nation and may 'grant' powers to their followers and such. but disagreements over religion can lead to conflict

religion is always a part of international politics!

@heartsteal

hmmm, not a bad idea. now to figure out the scale

well i mean like if your whole nation is based off of a deity or deities how would that work?

it would probably be run in a theocracy with the dieties dictates becoming law. you know, like if the humans worship a god of snakes and that god decrees that serpents are sacred, the people would probably see killing them as a capitol offense

then i'd make the king/queen either directly descended from said god or have him/her be the avatar of that god's power.

cool, i'm totally interested now xD , although the last time i ran a Nation/kingdom, it didn't work out so well

ok i think we're ready to get this off the idea section, i'll post the info and sign up threads sometime either tonight or tommorrow.
