Fallos

Blackthorn

One Time Luck
Two continents: Cakara and the Central Lands. Cakara is wondrous and magical (and much more wild), with blooming flowers and deadly monsters. The Central Lands are the hub of civilisation, with cities, towns and villages, with many different species. The world is inhabited by dwarves, trolls, Eterm (Elf-Like beings) and humans. There are plenty of other creatures, including goblins, but those are the four main people.

Cakara, year 27861. Summer is in full effect. The great green plains of the Saii Empire sprawl for miles, carrying the soft scent of flowers and cooking food as the common folk roast beef and pork on the soft grassy areas. Northwards lies the great city of Derasen, a luscious place of lust, love and intrigue. Its high golden walls shimmer in the golden sunlight. Further to the west, the solitary mountain of Teraq stands high, its snowy top glistening. From the very peak, you can see Lokaw in the far south-east. Further west still are the Free States. Hok bubbles up like a steaming pile of crap, with low, thick walls and unpleasant people milling around inside. Lockhold sits in all its majesty, content in the knowledge that it was one of the famous points of the world, the furthest west state in all Fallos. Slightly to the east sits Aeridon. It is one of the more pleasent cities, with blue-roofed houses and large walls, and great oaken gates. Along the path leading up to the gate from Teraq, walk two boys. One of them looks about 17, the other 13. They could easily be mistaken for normal young Princes, coming to visit the neighbouring Queen. But one look in their eyes, and you can tell they certainly aren't human.

City of Aeriador,

The Queen was milling about in her gardens pruning some of her blue frost roses that were difficult to maintain in the heat but she was managing to do so because of her nature magic. Trained by her mother and her grandmother, Arcadia was a beaming example of the radiant beauty of House Valyrion's women. Her father had three sons and all three died with their father in a war against the Empire. Her mother had succumbed to Black Fever. Her grandmother on the other hand was still kicking it as she neared a century in age.... many agreed she had some kind of light magic or something to keep her going. No one could prove otherwise so they just accepted her presence.

Aeriador was refurbishing the massive walls and adding an new sea wall to protect the harbor that brought in the much needed trade and commerce that was the root of the city's wealth and power. The gates were being replaced from their carved oak to an identical carving that was iron to add to the defenses and strength of their legendary walls that had never been breached. The Queen was just humming to herself and looking at the ocean every now and then while she tended the garden.

The boys approached the gate fast, and if you paid close enough attention, one might have noticed that they were moving faster than their legs were moving. The elder looked at the walls keenly, like they were interesting piles of rubble in his eyes. Cold, harsh, icy eyes. Like an oncoming snow storm. And clearly inhuman. He walked up to the gate and waved a hand idly at the guards, and one look at his eyes and they tripped over themselves trying to open the door. After the boys enter entered, they stroll through the city and up to the keep, namely the gardens. No one recognised him or paid much attention to him, and he blended in with the crowd perfectly. Just another face on the street.
