Reed grinned, then held up both hands, with one of his thumbs down. "I'm nine! Almost ten in a year." He beamed proudly again. "And ten with another ten is twenty! And that's a grown-up! So I'm almost a grown-up."
His smile faded a little to curiosity as he looked at her. "How old are you? You don't look like a grown up."
She smiled. "I'm 19." She said nodding. "That would be your age, plus 10." She said grinning, a bit more maliciously than a regular smile, but she meant well.

Lawrence leaped through the bushes. His large rabbit ears perked up, hearing voices in the forest. He drew his attention to where the voices were coming from and saw a young girl with large wings talking to a small boy. Above him, the clouds started to rumble and darken. Lawrence hopped up a nearby tree and pulled out a large carrot from his pocket to gnaw on, continuing to watch the two.

Falowen started to hear a rumble in the sky and looked up. It seemed likely at any moment that the sky would weep with tears. She looped her bow around her body and jumped down from her spot in the trees. Falowen then started to walk away while tying up her hair.

"Oh," Reed nodded. "You're almost a grown up." His smile wavered a little as she smiled, but then he grinned. Okay, so it was still a little scary, but a smile was a smile, after all. That meant she was happy! Maybe.

"Hey," he said, realizing something, "you're not a stranger right? Or a wolf? Cause both of those are bad. Especially together. Mom said so, and she's pretty smart. Usually. Sometimes." He shrugged.

Oliver was suddenly jostled awake by a light tapping on his head. He slowly opened his eyes, yawning as he did so, to see a squirrel sitting on his head. He blinked at it in confusion. He looked down to see an assortment of nuts surrounding him. "What?" he questioned. Suddenly, a large pain blossomed in his head. The creature was throwing nuts at him! Oliver felt his eye begin to twitch. "You're going to pay for that one." The squirrel threw one last nut at him and jumped off. Oliver growled in anger and gave chase, hoping to end it and teach him a lesson about hitting people repeatedly at nuts.

Malevolence chuckled.

"Well, you don't know me... I guess I may be a stranger. However, I am not a wolf. I'm a faerie."

She said opening her crow like wings, the movement causing some wind on the boy.

"But I am going to be honest with you. I do not mean any harm."

"Oh," Reed nodded seriously, before jumping back, surprised. "Whoa!" he gasped, and admired her wings, mouth open in awe. "I've never met a fairy before!" he admitted. "But I always heard they were nice. Usually. Sometimes."

He tilted his head a little and smiled. "You're nice," he declared. "And to not be strangers..." He extended his tiny childish hand and held it out towards her. "My name's Reed." He grinned at her, expectantly waiting for her response.

She grinned and shook his small hand.

"My name is malevolence. It is very nice to meet you Reed."

She said sitting on the floor.

"If you have ever heard of maleificent, that would be my mother."

She said nodding.
