*When you realize there was another tab*
And when you realize that you should have noticed that you didn't see anything relating to magic in a roleplay about a magic based show

Um.... Maybe similar to Juvia's? I know, so original.

I'll try to make like a description of it tomorrow or Monday, considering I'll be on my phone until about 9 EST. Time.

Is that ok?
We can still start and she'll still have similar magic to Juvia's. I'll just change it up a bit when I make the description on my computer because my phone is evil sometimes

It was night, the sky was covered black clouds that sent lightning arching across the sky every now and then. The sounds of thunder a common thing in this storm. Freezing rain fell from the sky, its unrelenting rage unleashed upon those below without any regard to their suffering across the entire empire. It was such a night that the spark of hope would be ignited. Small as it may be, it only takes a spark to start an uncontrollable blaze.

Duke was with his family in his small shack of a house. They lived in what used to the be legendary city of Magnolia. However most of the buildings were abandoned. Most surviving structures had their windows broken and you could often see scorch mark on the walls from the original take over by the Bar'Al Empire all those years ago. His little sisters and brothers huddled around him, trying to conserve and share body heat as they whimpered at each boom of thunder.

Duke had slowly taken these children under his protection, each of them had lost their families to the empire z

Chelsea wandered through the streets, frowning as she glanced around. She simply had a small cloak to protect her from the rain. She had been in the middle of making her way back home when the storm started. She was fine with the rain, but each boom from the thunder made her tense. Picking up the pace, she decided to try and get home faster. She could get out of the storm then. She stared at the buildings as she passed them, sighing. You couldn't ever get away from the fact that the Bar'Al Empire took over. The destruction was everywhere. She found herself wondering what her life would be like, had the Bar'Al Empire never invaded.

(Gah! My computer had a mini-stroke when I tried to make my post. I didn't try and post it though so seeing it posted all funky had me LMAOing)

Thunder came again as the sky lit up. It was cold in the house, as the storm had come out of no where and there hadn't been any time to gather wood. Duke knew it was taboo, but he couldn't take seeing his family so cold. Holding out his hands, he called forth his power and warm light filled his palms as fire danced above his skin. The change in temperature was immediate and shortly after, everyone stopped shivering and looked into the flames with entranced envy. Duke had discovered his magic a few years ago when he was out camping. After discovering his fire, he had secretly practiced control out in the woods where no one could find him.

He knew he was take a terrible gambit with using magic, as the Empire's soldiers could be lurking anywhere. The thoughts of being hauled off to the town square and beheaded in front of everyone was not a fun thing to think about, but it was a very real possibility, it was how he had been orphaned in the first place. The thunder brought Duke back from his dark place to the present. The sounds of the rain on the roof was so loud it hurt Dukes ears.

"So what story are we going to share tonight?" asked Duke, trying to keep his little brothers and sisters from brooding on their lack of food and fear of being found by the empire.

"What about when Gray Fullbuster joined a dark guild?" Kaedan called out.

"No, that's a short and stupid story. What about when the Phantom Lords tried to kidnap Lucy?" Lucia retorted, her bright green eyes sparkling up at Duke with hope.

"Both of those ideas are dumb! Tell us about the time Natsu went to Edolas!" Kia, Lucia's little sister said.

A loud crash came from the door as it exploded inwards. The unexpected event caused Duke to lose control of his magic, allowing the flames to die out instantly. The sudden change in light, as well as the screams of the kids disoriented Duke as he heard several people rush in. Small orbs of light exploded the room, illuminating the intruders and identifying them as Empire Soldiers.

"Halt! We sensed the use of magic power in this....shack. In accordance with the law, we have come to render the judgment necessary." One soldier said. With a flick of his wrist, the other soldier leveled magic guns at Duke and the children. "Due to extenuating circumstances, we cannot presently carry out judgment in the town center as is normal practice. As such you all shall die here." The soldier turned and walked past his men. "Make it quick." And with that he left the shack without a look behind him.

Duke could feel the magic power surge as the soldiers gathered their power. His mind raced as the children cowered behind him. Surely he couldn't face this many soldiers and live, could he? But he couldn't just do nothing and let everyone die. Images of their dead bodies flashed through his head and his fear was washed away by a roaring anger. He knew what he was about to do was stupid and likely to result in the immediate retaliation of the Empire. But that didn't stop him.

Duke threw his hands forward and blue fire erupted from his hands in the shape of a serpent. The soldiers barely had time to scream before they were consumed by the torrent of flames. The fire exploded out of the shack, making a lot of noise in the process and leaving flaming walls where the fire had touched.

Chelsea had watched the entire thing. She couldn't see inside the shack, of course. She stopped, remaining silent. When the soldier, who was probably the commanding officer of the bunch, walked out, she cowered away. She was honestly terrified that he would notice her and harass her or somehow noticed that she was able to use magic, even if she wasn't using it. Once the soldier had passed, she walked past the house in hopes of peeking inside the window. Maybe if there weren't too many, she could help? Whoever was in that house would most likely have to go on the run, but that was better than being dead, right? Before she managed to actually look, fire exploded out of the house. Stumbling back, Chelsea let out a small squeak. She ended up falling down and into a puddle. Chelsea let out a groan. Great. She was going to have to waste her magic to get this water out of her clothes before she froze. The cloak was soaking wet, too, so there wasn't much point of using it now. Standing up, she picked the cloak up and tried to wring out the water. Most of it, anyway. It would still be damp. She folded it up, wanting to be away from the town before she even dared considering using her magic. She then noticed the flaming walls. Walking over, she curiously stared inside the shack.

(( Lol I was wondering what that was! ^.^ ))

Duke knew that time was limited. There would be more of the soldiers on their way soon. Before any of them could ask any questions, Duke turned to Lucia.

"You have to take everyone out of here. Go, you remember the way to Ravic's estate?" Duke asked. When the girl nodded, he continued. "Good, then go. I know you can get everyone there safely. I will distract the soldiers." Duke finished and pushed his siblings out in the downpour. The squealed from the cold but Lucia already began to drag them away, tears staining their eyes.

Already Duke could hear shouts. Knowing what to do, he burst out of the shack and into the street. There was a strange figure waiting just outside of the building. Duke didn't see any weapons or other items marking the person as Empire so he didn't stop. Instead in the middle of the street he threw his hands over his head and released a torrent of red fire high above him. It would be easy for soldiers to notice and make him the prime objective while the children got away.

Low and behold, several soldiers rushed around the corner, weapons charged and ready to fire. Irridescent balls of light shot forwards, but Duke was ready for it, and he dodged the attacks easily by vaulting into the air while spinning. As he spun, rain collected around him in thick streams. Upon landing, several rings of water floated, to which he threw his right hand out. A ring of water exploded forwards, freezing instantly as lethal icicles aiming to skewer their targets. The soldiers yelped and tried to jump out of the way, but the water around their feet had been frozen instantly, making it impossible to move their feet. Their screams echoed around the street as more soldiers rushed their their aid.

"I have a feeling this is a losing battle..." Duke said, sweat and steam rolling over his body despite the freezing cold, his breathing was already getting heavy.

Chelsea had backed into an alley when she heard the soldiers coming. She watched the fight calmly from the side, narrowing her eyes as more soldiers came. They didn't know she was there, though, so she figured she could help him. They probably wouldn't sense her in the battle and would just assume it was the guy. Concentrating, she watched as her magic caused many, possibly even hundreds, of little drops of water to raise into the air. These drops combined themselves and then surrounded the head of a small handful of soldiers. Chelsea had only recently found out about her magic, so it wasn't the strongest. She was sure if she had figured out a few years ago about her magic that she would be able to take out most of the soldiers. She waited for the soldiers to either fall unconscious or even die in some cases before moving the water to the next victim.

Duke felt his strength ebbing as the soldiers were cut down by his ice. That was when he felt the surge of magic power close by. Automatically he began calling upon his magic when he turned towards the source of the power. That was when he saw several soldiers succumb to drowning thanks to a globules of water around their heads, suffocating them rather quickly. He noticed the girl shortly after that. He wasn't sure what to do, since apparently this stranger was helping him fight, though more from the shadows then anything else. However he didn't know why, and that made him wary.

"Open, Hell's Gate: Wrath." A voice called out, and a huge surge of magic power exploded nearby. Duke turned his head just in time to see a fist cloaked in black and blue lightning come shrieking towards his face. It was out of pure instinct that Duke threw himself backwards into a back hand spring, dodging the attack by literally the skin of his teeth. The fist flew by, and unexpectedly, the black and blue lightning exploded outwards in an ranged attack, destroying several houses in its path in an instant. If that attack had connected with Duke, he would have died, no doubt about it.

"Seems there was a rat that needed exterminating. Seems it might be a bit more nimble and I thought. Hopefully you...and the girl rat can be of some fun before you die." The commanding officer says, having returned. His body was now cloaked in blue and black lightning, giving off an ominous sensation.

Silvy Silvy (Sorry about disappearing! I started a new job and literally just worked 2 70 hr weeks in a row. )

Chelsea narrowed her eyes. She honestly hadn't used too much of her magic, although she wasn't too sure about the other guy. She knew for a fact that she had no where close to enough skill to defeat the commanding officer. He'd most likely be trained well enough to escape her bubbles. Biting her lip, she tried to think of a plan. Running wasn't an option. She was willing to bet money that she'd be tracked down. Not only that, but she'd feel guilty for leaving the other guy alone. Chelsea let out a small growl of annoyance, quite annoyed with the fact that she had no idea what to do.

(( It's ok! ))

The commanding officer seemed to be using some kind of enhancement magic coupled with elemental magic. Duke couldn't be sure though. He looked over to the girl and saw that she seemed just was worried as he felt, though she seemed to be doing better with her magic power consumption than he was, as he could still feel a steady thrum of power coming from her.

"Honestly, I feel like my involvement has more to do with these pathetic excuses for soldiers than any skill on either of your parts." The commanding officer said, spitting at the bodies of several soldiers.

Duke felt his blood boil. He might not have any sympathy when fighting the empire for survival, but when someone so blatantly disrespected his own, something usually ended up broken and bleeding when Duke was done. Tactical training told Duke that this was a no-win situation. The best and only option was a strategic retreat. With that thought in his mind, he called on his magic one last time, knowing this was going to be his last move. With rapid movement, he swung his arms around to both push out in front of him. "Water Magic: Obscurity Barrier!" And then threw his arms to his straight out to his side. Immediately the rain falling around them turned to fog so thick that you couldn't see your hand in front of you face from an inch away. The area of effect was 400 yards and would last for 2 minutes even with the rain.

With that, Duke rushed away from the battle field. He had calculated where the girl was and ran into the alleyway. Thanks to memorizing the layout of the entire town, he didn't stumble due to the lack of sight and masterfully navigated to the girl, which he grabbed hold of her wrist without a word and urgently pulled her with him "Come with me if you want to live to see tomorrow." Duke whispered.

Chelsea rolled her eyes, letting him drag her for a few steps. She used her magic again, but instead of attacking the commanding officer, she used it to make it sound like they were heading in the opposite direction. Once she figured that she had 'covered their tracks', she relaxed a bit. "Oh, no, I thought I would be fine doing nothing!" She replied sarcastically, glancing back as if she would actually be able to see if the commanding officer through the mist. She sighed,"Is there a specific place that the children will meet up at?" She tilted her head a bit, frowning as she waited patiently for an answer. She figured they could find some way of finding them in the city if there wasn't. She had people who she could ask to find them for her. They wouldn't be able to show their faces in the city for awhile. There was no way they could predict where the commanding officer would be, after all.

Duke noted the sarcasm in the woman's voice, internally rolling his eyes. He honestly didn't know why he was even trying to lead her out of the mist field, but he couldn't in good conscious just leave her for the soldiers to kill after she had used magic to help him fight. The fact that she could, or even would use magic at all was something Duke hadn't expected. The ability to use magic had always been very rare, especially these days considering the fear that came along with it.

"The children know this city like the back of their hands. They won't encounter trouble when every soldier is looking for me." Duke said, matter of factly, still moving quickly yet keeping his voice barely a whisper. "As to finding them again, well that was never part of the plan. I knew someday I might have to go on the run, so I taught the oldest of them how to survive and I have a few allies scattered throughout the empire. They will not help me fight, but they will protect the kids to the best of their abilities." Duke states, then stops abruptly, making the girl stop too.

They were still in the mist field, Duke could hear the metallic clink of armored soldiers coming closer. The sounds of shouted commands and responses were obvious now. Duke knelt down on the ground, and skimmed the street with his hands for a couple minutes. Duke grunted, and there was a metallic rasp as metal slid against metal. Duke stood up and went to the girl. He took her hand again, and lead her where he had just been. They could see a hole in the ground now, uncovered and leading into darkness. The fact they could see that meant the mist was about to dissipate, and they needed to get the lead out. "Go through there, and suppress your magic power. Its a tunnel that should lead us out of Magnolia." Duke said, then waited for the girl.

Chelsea bit back another smart remark. What did he think she was, stupid? She slipped down in the hole, backing up a bit so he could get down after her. She crossed her arms,"Just the oldest of them? What if all of the ones who knew how to survive died, without being able to teach the others how to survive? What if they become selfish and decide to leave the others? What if that officer tracks them all down and tries to use them against you?" She raised an eyebrow, falling silent. She wasn't entirely sure about the first two things she had said, but she was sure that the empire would have the officer round up the children was a likely to happen.

Once the girl was down in the tunnel, Duke dropped down too, closing the entrance as he did so. The tunnel was roughly 7 feet tall and 5 feet wide. Pretty narrow, but not too tight for two people to walk through without much difficulty. Duke didn't answer the girl right away, but instead he walked on in silence. The tunnel was dark except for light crystals in the walls every hundred feet or so. Honestly, Duke didn't think it wise to answer the woman's questions regarding his family, he didn't trust her regardless of her assistance.

Finally, "I taught the oldest because I didn't think children under 10 would have the strength to survive in this cruel world alone. Imagine that they were somehow caught, should I have told the young ones where people live that would defy the Empire if they had too, even by a minute amount? Children are scared easily, especially with the threat of death." Duke said, his voice hollow.

"Those kids are family, the only one they have, so they will be protect each other as much as they can. The Empire can't go after them, they only saw them for a few moments and we killed all of them except one." Duke then stopped walking, his back towards the woman.

"However, I am suspicious. How is it that you managed to find me? Why were you near me when all that went down? It seems odd that some stranger would just help a rebel of the Empire." Duke's voice starts to take on an icy tone and danger begins to creep into his body. "More than likely, you're a spy meant to discover rebels and kill them when they give you the information you need." With that, Duke spins around, his eyes locked with the girl's, daring her to do something and prove him right or wrong.

Chelsea raised an eyebrow, tilting her head. She seemed to find his claims amusing,"Oh, yes. A spy would take out several soliders to make it appear as if I was saving you. I do believe that it would have been easier to force the soliders to never have tried to arrest you and merely stalk you. Besides, if I were indeed a spy, then there would be plenty of people that had been ratted out by now..!" She smiled,"In fact, I do believe that I deserve a thank you. We both know that you most likely would have been captured or worse had I not cut in..!"

(( Thinking about having Chelsea be part of a small rebel group, if it's ok with you! ))

(( Not sure if you meant to post something, or if you accidentally liked my last post while meaning to post a reply. (Sorry if you just haven't gotten around to replying) ))

((I liked it because of the initiative and the idea of a small resistance that Chelsea can introduce him too. I'm currently at work so using my phone. Just 11 hours till my 24 shift ends! Then I can post tomorrow!))
