Fairy Tail 1x1 RP

Priya

kyber child
Two young wizards in rival guilds meet and fall in love. But when their guild conflict comes to a full-on battle, they are forced to fight. One must triumph, and one must break.

Will love prevail over rivalry? Or does guild loyalty run deeper than the desires of the heart?

Daenerys seemed to materialize as she rounded the street corner, turning from shadows to physical form. She strode swiftly along the stone street and swept inside the local wizard supply shop, a tall and borderline-ramshackle stack of mismatched layers. Once inside, Daenerys pulled her hood from her head and stepped toward a shelf, locating the item she was to obtain. It looked like an ordinary candlestick. Daenerys fought a groan, agonizing in her dreary and humiliating assignment. She snatched the item, supposedly cursed with a dark magic that revived the spirits of evil men, and approached the counter where an old woman sat collecting dust and staring off into space.

A clatter rang out as Kane dropped the handful of marbles he had picked up from a shelf escaped to the floor. They were charms, simple good luck fortunes made for comfort. "Miss Autumn?! I'm gonna pay for these. Some of them got chipped!" As he scooped them up and approached the counter, Kane blinked in surprise at the sight of a particularly dark figure. "Morning," he greeted, giving a wave and nearly dropping the marbles again. "How's it goin'?"

Daenerys whipped around at the noise, staring at the white-haired boy as he made his way up to the counter. Clumsy. Friendly. Bright. Daenerys disliked him immediately. She did not respond to his greeting, and instead purchased her item and turned to leave, pulling her good back up as she did so. This was no time to interact with outside wizards. But... Daenerys turned around. Perhaps it would be a good opportunity to spy, or recruit. She forced a smile, which looked more like a grimace marred by her scar and shadowy demeanor, and spoke. "Good morning," she replied blandly, nodding in the awkward boy's direction.

Kane mentally cringed at the woman's attempt at a smile. Nonetheless, he kept up his cheery greeting. He hadn't expected her to respond, so this was good. "Are you from a dark guild?" he asked, before Miss August tossed a pen at him. "Oh, wait, that wasn't supposed to come out. Shit. Um..." Kane ran a hand through his hair, leaving it more ruffled than before. This girl didn't seem to want to talk, but he couldn't help himself from interacting with anyone he laid eyes on. "So I'm Arkane," he finally introduced, clasping his hands together and rocking on his heels. "I'm from a guild two towns over. Ever heard of me?"

Daenerys sneered, a look much more becoming of her appearance. "I'm afraid not. Which guild, exactly?" She had completely ignored his question about a dark guild. Daenerys didn't believe in giving out any information she didn't get in return. Quid pro quo, she always remembered. Give a little to get a little. But only if it benefitted her.

Daenerys brushed her hood off her face a bit in order to seem more friendly. It probably made her look even more intimidating, but Daenerys was oblivious to her fear-inducing exterior. She was purely goal-driven, and only wished to find out more about the official guild this so-called Arkane came from.

"Uh..." Kane looked up, trying to recall the name. "Um... No, wait, I remember. Geminus Candor." He grinned sheepishly, rubbing his neck. "Lived there my whole life, so this is kinda embarrassing," he admitted, a hint of a blush touching his skin. When the girl took off her hood, he perceived it as a sign of openness despite how scary she looked and stepped a bit closer so they weren't calling to each other. "You're hair... Whoa. It's, like, super pretty. A short cut looks good on you."

Daenerys first felt confusion, but soon after her cheeks flushed pink. A compliment? From a stranger? A boy, no less? She felt the urge to pull her hood back up, but refrained, instead, she studied Arkane closely. He didn't seem to pose a threat, or to be manipulating her. He seemed to be genuinely kind.

"Th-Thank you," Daenerys struggled, trying to find the appropriate words. "You are very kind." The pink burned brighter in her pale cheeks, making Daenerys want to bury her face in her arm. Geminus Candor. Arkane. She took note of his appearance. Wasn't that the guild her master had discussed the previous day? He was planning a raid on the guild's house. She guessed they had something Drayn wanted, or he wouldn't waste soldiers on a small official guild after a big mission the week before. Despite her loyalty and coldness, Daenerys felt a painful tug in her chest. She didn't want this bumbling, white-haired idiot to die in fire and shadows, surrounded by the death of his comrades, those he had known since he was young.

Daenerys quickly shook the haunting feeling off. It wasn't her job to feel pity; it was her job to seek and destroy, to tie up loose ends and clean up the mess her comrades had made. Emotion played no part in her role as a member of Jupiter Karma.

Seeing the girl become flustered brought more humanity to her image than the smile had. "Thanks," he agreed, smiling brightly again. "So, uh, what's your name?" Kane tried again, having gotten no information out of her as of yet. He didn't want to probe, but the god slayer was genuinely curious in this girl's occupation. Now that he thought about, he didn't even know if she was a wizard. It just seemed to make sense since she was in a magic shop.

"Kane, boy, that man you ran over yesterday is about to enter this shop. Don't you think it's time you left?" Miss August called from the counter, having the spotted the sturdily built fellow from a side window. Kane's eyes widened as he noticed him as well. On an impulse, he grabbed the girl's wrist and pulled her towards the back of the store and out the read exit, knocking down several trays in the process.

"Sorry," he apologized, panting heavily. "I don't know why I did that. I mean, I know why I ran. I don't wanna die at his hand. I don't know why I brought you, though."

Daenerys was startled beyond her wit as she was forcefully dragged out the back of the supply shop. She jerked her arm out of Arkane's grip and faced him with an inky glare.

"Please refrain from touching me again," she said darkly. Daenerys paused to assess whether Arkane would act again.

"I am called Daenerys," she added, in response to his question before he had so rudely forced her outside with him. "Some of those close to me call me Dany. If that is easier to remember for you, I implore you, use it."

"Sorry..." Kane apologized again, slightly taken aback by her revulsion to skinship. Whatever, he thought. Everyone has their quirks. When she introduced her nickname, however, the smile from before blossomed on his lips. "Does that mean I'm close to you? We've gone through so much together, it's only natural." With a chuckle, Kane peered through the tiny opening in the back door, noticing the guy was still there. "So, uh, which guild are you from?" He wasn't exaggerating when he asked if she was from a dark guild. Her appearance certainly fit the bill.

Daenerys fought an eyeroll and glared at the boy from behind her tousled bangs. "I believe it would be wise to withhold that information at this time," she reported mechanically, staring at the ground. If Arkane knew she was from a dark guild plotting an attack on his own guild, her chances of getting any information out of him would be shot to hell before they could even be acted upon. Daenerys studied him up and down, assessing his strengths and weaknesses on instinct as she did so, and decided he was too polite to be an immediate threat. Tension in her shoulders visibly released, making her look more relaxed. Underneath, she was still coiled to spring at the slightest notice.

"What, really? Damn. Is it, like, super confidential or something?" From the way she was acting, Kane had already figured out that she was part of a dark guild. He could read up on some local guilds when he got back. "Whatever, though. I won't pry anymore." Once the man inside was gone, Kane sighed in relief and opened the door for Daenarys. "Hey, so I'm still super sorry for pulling you out with me. I'll buy you something from here to make up for it. Didn't you have some candle in your hand?" Kane shoved his hands in his pockets and gave her a cheery grin.

Daenerys looked around, eyes making a circle on the ground around her feet. "Yes, thank you," she replied. The candlestick was still sitting on its side, forlorn on the shop's counter. She shuffled in through the door, nodding her thanks to Kane for holding it open.

As they reentered the shop, Kane began shuffling through his wallet. "This should cover it," he announced, placing far too much money on the counter. "Er, I think. I'm not good with jewels. Master's a geezer and still uses the old currency, so I grew up with that." He chuckled sheepishly and glanced around. What had he come there for again? Oh, right. A pair of speed reading glasses and a certain magic book. Kane spotted the glasses with ease, but didn't know where to start with the abundance of texts lining the walls.

"Don't knock them down, idiot boy!" Miss Autumn called out, ringing up Dany's item and giving her the proper change. "I'll make you a slave here forever! You know how much Ceres loves young men like you," she threatened, referring to her obsessive daughter who fell in love with anyone at the drop of a hat. He had fallen victim enough times to last him an eternity.

Kane shuddered, cringing. "That's mean, old lady. I'm one of the most powerful wizards in my city. I can handle some bookshe-" As he pulled out a manual from the top shelf, several more came tumbling down after, knocking into him as he swayed on his feet. "I shouldn't even be allowed outside," he admitted.
