Shin Positron Laser
Guardian of the Old Ways
Hi, I am Shin Positron Laser.
I am looking for members for a Roleplay I wish to start.
Here's a WALL OF TEXT to show you what I have to offer and more in this RP
Far Shadow is actually not the name of the RP. It's an Acronym, explained in the section below
The RP is now Open
PLOT:
My philosophy on plot has FAR SHADOW as a foundation. What is FAR SHADOW? It is an acronym for specific genres I like to have in my RP storylines. Here are those genres with specific explanations of how they may be shown in the RP
Fantasy: Make Believe characters, settings, plants, animals you name it.
Adventure: Whether storyline themes, character progression or setting changes, the adventure of discovery will always be present
Romance: This is best left to members characters to develop. Having the GM do it is sort of like arrange marriages haha.
Supernatural: Cause super powers are awesome. But spamming death rays and blowing up planets every post can be tiresome
Homage: Every now and then, we pay tribute to great characters, plotlines and other things that already exist in other media.
Action: Imagine 1000 posts of 5 characters sitting around a campfire.... it works better IRL
Drama: Asian Drama's are a big hit in the West... no really, Netflix backs my claim.
Original: When we're not paying homage, everything is original. Which means lots of room for creativity!
World Building: History, cultures, fauna, flora, monsters, beliefs, religions, governments, yup, lots of potential.
Game Systems
Years of Roleplaying, boardgaming and video gaming, has taught me to include reward systems and combat systems in my RP's. Reward systems can be gimmicky but I like them. Combat systems act as a sort of balance in fighting and with a dice system available we will be making full use of it for combat. Here are the reasons why Game systems are put in place in this RP.
Limits Characters: Specifically during combat scenarios, fighting can become repetitive and using supernatural powers kind of spammy. So to prevent characters from swinging their sword 1000 times a post, or launching 1000 fireballs Game systems are put in place.
Progressive characters: Many times we just add on a super power for the convenience of it during whatever situation, a single character solution. Such immediate gratification can be likened to a lonely snack at a fast food restaurant. It certainly takes good for the 5-10 minutes but then what? Whereas gradual growth both biographical, personality AND super powers is likened to a home cooked meal with several courses and enjoyed with a group of family and friends.
Selective Types: Powers and abilities are NOT your character, but they help define your character. Warriors are Warriors, Mages and Mages. Imagine if the fellowship of the ring were simply shadow clones of Aragorn and then Frodo.... yes you would get a Hobbit type film. The point is the Game System will help with defining your character.
Reward participation: The more a person participates the more they can unlock and progress their character in all its facets. Participation, consistency and contributions all help to make an RP an enjoyable experience.
Prerequisites
If your not intimidated by the wall of text so far, please continue on.
A GM has the prerogative of setting out specifications for the kind of Roleplayers they want in their RP's. Not everyone will like this Roleplay and this Roleplay is not meant for everyone. So if you are still interested, then an honest self evaluation of the following will help in either solidifying that interest or killing it.
Dedication: We're not asking for exclusivity. Simply there is a trend of joining and leaving RP's unexpectedly. We are looking for people to stick with the RP, get to know the others, and grow with everyone, both OoC and IC.
Participation: RP's momentum, success and amusement depend greatly on member participation. While we all have many responsibilities more important than Rping, the most I can ask for members is to post at least 2-3 times a week. More is welcome and favorable, however with a group of let's say 6, every week would amount to ~18 posts every month ~72. It's definitely encouraging to see such regular participation. 10-20 minutes every other day goes a long way.
Creativity: Anyone who RP's is creative. However I am wanting to channel member creativity in order to build up the World in which we RP. So the willingness to take on other roles, characters, create monsters, or side quests would be extremely valuable for an Original World Setting.
Character Sheet
If you still have an interest, congrats! lol have a look at our character sheet and go ahead and create your character. There will be some areas that may require additional elaboration or help however when the main thread is up so too will that information be available to you! Please feel free to post it in here in the interest check to have it looked over. That way it can be readied for the opening of the IC with no wait!
