Extinction Event; Ancient Whispers

Welcome to the end of the world.
The year is 2403 and the nations of the planet have been replaced with sovereign city-states run by megacorporations. With the negative trends in survivability of your average weather report, most - if not all - of remaining life on earth exists within gargantuan megacities kept safe by their painstakingly monitored artificial atmospheres. Technology has progressed far beyond the scope of the early twenty-first century, with the flavor thereof depending mostly on what specific branch of corporate overlords reigns over your neighborhood. The study of genetics has ensured anybody who has the funds no longer needs to suffer decay and death, and so the world's 0.01% has arrived at a peaceful equilibrium where no one is hated enough to be worth waging war over, and a nepotistic bottleneck ensures no new-thinkers are going to come in and stir matters up. Your average citizen may just as well live a dystopian life, constantly harassed by peacekeeping drones and officials for their illegal jobless existences, or even enjoying a quiet ordinary life in one of the many middle-class cul-de-sac colonies, working a 9-to-5 with good wages and health benefits.
The fact is, your place in the world or view thereof is hardly matters, because it will inevitably end along with the rest of the observable universe within the next 24 hours. Killed by none other than you.
Let's get started.

Welcome to Extinction Event! Have YOU ever wanted to play a God-Level character and engage in city-leveling all-out warfare with your peers? Then you've found the place.
The setting is a grim futuristic earth where almost any idea for a backstory goes, thanks to the extremely diverse sections that exists within the megacities. You'll be playing an individual born and raised in Nutopia, the largest and most populated megacity in the world, and where the absolute majority of the RP will take place. You will be one of several individuals with a piece of Divinity innately inside you, an ancient, mysterious power that makes your physique greater, your words more influential, and your brain faster. As the story progresses, your characters will quickly become increasingly powerful, and your ultimate goal is to kill all other players and gather all Divinity. The consequence might be beyond what your character could imagine, but it is not like you have a say in the matter. The drive to destroy that exists within you urges you to continue your vicious ways until you have overcome and conquered.
Furthermore, death is not the end, but you might have preferred it to be.
You will awake at the morning of the day of judgment suddenly knowing the extents of your powers, and having an uncanny ability to sense the other wielders of Divinity, wherever they may be in Nutopia. You have no idea what or who made you this way, but you know what you must do. Alliances and social intrigue is encouraged, but know that at the end of the day there may only be one left.
Since this roleplay will involve character death and all the dark themes that involves, it is suited best to mature players who can separate IC and OOC. Keep the incredible violence and death threats in the roleplay, out here on the meta side we are all friends :^)
To make sure that the RP is manageable for myself (since a lot of the correspondence regarding your character and powers will happen privately in DMs) I might not be able to accept every single character, and in the interest of keeping the themes and feel of the RP intact it won't be first come first serve either. Character building will be explained further in the CS section, but feel free to fire away any questions you may have.
The end WILL come, it is only a question of who brings it about first.
- Divinity has been present in your character from birth, but until the beginning of the RP it has been subtle. Imagine having a character in an RPG with all of their stats maxed, with the added bonus of being resistant to all kinds of damage, disease, poison, etc; then imagine what kind of implications that would have for their upbringing and life prior to the RP. Note also, that thanks to the supernatural powers of Divinity, nobody has noticed that you are this extraordinary except yourself. Talented, sure, but nobody suspects that you are supernatural.
Initially, the powers of each character will be simple. They are your typical shonen protagonist, stronger, better, and faster than the average person but hardly beyond the scope of sophisticated cybernetic enhancements. As the roleplay progresses, you will grow in power and learn abilities according to a theme you've selected that will henceforth be referred to as an Aspect. Your Aspect is your super power, or what could be referred to as your divine domain; a word that accurately describes the thematic powers of your character. For example, Spiderman's Aspect could be "Spider", or perhaps "Arachnids" for a broader area. Magneto's Aspect would be "Magnetism", so on so forth. We will work together to ensure you get something to your liking :^)
The powers of everyone will increase fairly drastically quite often, as the timescale of the RP isn't more than a single day. This can and will happen during combat, as your opponent suddenly learns how to shoot lasers out of his eyes, or suddenly tanks your super punches without so much as a scratch. This progressive power growth will increase massively once a character kills and absorbs another character's Divinity - but cunning actions or alliances may yet bridge the power gap. There is no certainty that the killer manages to snatch the Divinity for themselves either, as a swift interloper could swoop in and steal the spoils of war. Very soon, you'll find your attacks leveling buildings, if not entire neighborhoods.
As the divinity within you grows, you'll come to find yourselves distant to the struggles of mankind. Soon, the people who die as collateral in the battle between divines will mean no more to you than ants. Additionally, your unreasoning urge to destroy your fellow divines will grow.
Good luck.
Character creation is now open!
Fantasy - [Extinction Event; Ancient Whispers] Remastered CS
You're special. Yeah, you know. You always have been. Maybe you noticed when you outperformed every other athlete on the field in everything without breaking a sweat, save those with exceptional cybernetic enhancements. Or maybe, later in life, you figured that the likelihood of you never once...
