Name: Hadley Slade

Personality: Crass, crude and unapologetic, Hadley is known for being harsh, and well, for lack of a better word, an ass. Her jagged personality and take no bullshit attitude make her a authoritative leader, one who leads by making examples of others. Most in her crew know better than to cross her, less they earn their captain's ire. However, despite her occasionally cruel nature, Hadley can act like a obnoxious, loud mouthed teenager, as sometimes she seems to forget how old she really is. Deep down however she has a small soft side, but getting to it takes a lot more effort than it might be worth. She'd fiercely loyal to those she deems worthy, and you do not want to see what happens when someone betrays her,or harms one of her close allies. Perhaps her closest ally, her first mate Alaric, is one of he only people she truly trusts.

Background:

Hadley's story isn't a unique one. She was born on the streets to an unwed woman, and dumped into the trash within days of her birth. Had she not been found by a kindly, older homeless woman she would've been a goner. Hadley was raised by this woman until around the age of five, when she witnessed her caretaker being shot down in front of her by a group of guards, who worked for a local noble family.
Unable to defend herself, Hadley was kidnapped by these people and brought to the manner to work as a slave, she spent the next five years or so in chains, being forced to wait on the noble family and fight for her life gladitoral style in order to amuse them.
She faced other slaves, hired soldiers, and brutal beasts, but the girls natural talent and anger proved to be lethal combination for those she faced.

At age eleven, the rambunctious slave was becoming headache for her masters, her constant attempts to escape her life of bondage was rallying the other servants, and her masters feared that soon a riot would take place. They ordered for Hadley to be executed, to make an example of her.
However, this order came too late, as the night before her execution, the slaves did riot, and the precious young girl was freed.
Armed with the weapons stolen from the guards, Hadley and the others stormed their master's manner, and none survived the bloody affair.
The girl went on to become a thief and then, a pirate, stealing herself a ship she and her crew set out to obtain everything they wanted, and then some.

*I wanted to keep it semi vague as I don't know when our characters meet, though I had a thought that maybe yours could've been a slave at this manner as well. Things can be rewritten as needed*​

Personality: Usually calm and disinterested, Cassius is a fairly lax individual. He does his best to scrape and avoids rufflings as many feathers as possible. As the elder sibling he feels it's his responsibility to support his sister, and often works several odd jobs to provide for her. While he doesn't get angry easily, the quickest way to get on his bad side is to threaten or harm his sister, the only family he has left.

Personality:​

Merrina is a sweetheart, innocent and naive. She has a positive outlook on life, usually being the first to offer optimistic words even when the situation is anything but. Where Cassius is usually calm and disinterested, Merrina can get excited about things, usually dragging her brother along with her when there's something she wants to see. Because her brother usually takes care of her, she feels like he doesn't think she can take care of herself. Because of this, she's a little self conscious about what she can do, but wants to prove that she is actually capable. Because Cassius is the only family she has, she can be shy around people she doesn't know, having a bad habit of hiding behind him when she gets scared or overwhelmed. She has a soft spot for flowers, gardening, her brother, and a pendant that she's had ever since she can remember.​

Alaric's default expression is stoic and emotionless. He doesn't seem to outwardly show that he cares about much other than himself, though he secretly deeply cares for his friends and his crewman. He does this mainly to protect himself, as his childhood was messed up pretty badly. Being half-kitsune, he is beautiful and cunning, and he uses this to his advantage when needed. The drawback to being half-kitsune is the fact that his ears are pointed (which ends up being hidden by his blonde hair), and if he loses control of himself or his emotions, he enters a "kitsune-rage state" where the kitsune half of him takes over and he loses all sense of his human half. The only way that he can calm down from this is if he either draws blood/takes a life, or if Hadley can get to him first. He hates this part of himself, and he tries to keep his emotions as calm (or nonexistant) as possible. Though his full name is technically Alaric Sellner, he also hates the fact that he's related to a family that caused him so much pain as a child, and gets angry when anyone calls him that. His loyalty to Hadley is second to none, and proud to stand as her first mate and second in command.​

Background:​

Alaric was born to a human father and a kitsune mother. This was a bit of a problem, however, as his father was a man from a noble house, betrothed to some woman he had never even met. If his family found out that he had a child in wedlock, with a non-human creature no less, it would spell trouble. He was able to hide Alaric's mother with a noble friend for a few years, until Alaric was around 4 years old. This was going well until a guard spotted his mother entering that noble's house, so she was shot without a chance to explain herself. Hearing about this, Alaric's father rushed to the house to see the dead body, and a guard holding a gun up to Alaric's head, demanding answers for what was going on. Panicking, his father lied and said that the kitsune mother was just trying to steal from the house, and the boy was some orphan that the noble had picked up to give to his father for servitude. The guards didn't seem to question this, and his father brought him back to the Sellner house, giving him one last hug before Alaric, like Hadley was brought in as a slave. Losing both his (secret) wife and his son, he was later found having hung himself in his room.​

Being in isolation and seeing his mother murdered right in front of him, as well as being abandoned by his father messed Alaric up pretty badly. He went from being a friendly and curious child to an emotionless one, and even ruthless and violent when forced into the gladiator ring. With being half-kitsune, he was stronger and faster than his opponents, and in the thick of things would fall into his "kitsune-rage state", where he would lose all sense of being a human. In this rage, his attacks become animalstic, his canines grow longer and sharper and his ears grow larger and more kitsune-like. In the gladiator ring, nobody noticed those changes, only recognizing that he was an amusing person to watch in the ring, as he seemed to rip apart any opponent in front of him. The only person that ever bested him was a girl named Hadley Slade, the only person that the Sellner house deemed more dangerous than he. When he wasn't in the ring, he was serving as a butler of the house. His half-kitsune beauty gave him the look of a foreigner (blonde hair and blue eyes), so he was popular with the many important guests that would arrive.​

But being bested by Hadley in the ring seemed to actually pique his interest, something that hadn't happened in a long time. They were enslaved in the same place, so he would notice her every time that he saw her. He noticed every attempt to escape, how there seemed to be more and more servants that wanted to do the same because of her. Even with having essentially given up on ever being more than a slave, even Alaric seemed to start wanting to escape as well, all because of this girl and her determination. So he was actually somewhat saddened to hear that she was going to be executed. But, the night before the execution was when the servant riot against the Sellner house finally happened. Alaric, 10 years old at the time, was a bit overwhelmed, as he wasn't exactly a part of planning the riot. However, Hadley had seen Alaric on the sidelines not really sure what was going on, and she gave him a sword stolen from the guards and the armory, telling him to join her and gaining his freedom. Without much more prompting, he joined, helping her storm the manor. Eventually they reached the head of the household, and angry at the Sellner house he fell into his rage state, completely slaughtering the nobles alongside Hadley. Still unable to control himself, he turned on Hadley, knocking her to the ground and pinning her to the ground with his hands holding her wrists. He snarled, blood still dripping off his teeth when to his surprise she complimented his natural abilities and how she was glad he had helped her. Hearing this, Alaric broke down crying as he returned back from his rage state, showing genuine emotion for the first time in years. She asked him to come with her, to wherever their freedom led them and he agreed, never leaving her side since. He became a theif alongside her, and helped her form her pirate crew, vowing to do whatever he could to help the woman who he both had fallen in love with and saved his life. Now he stands as her first mate and her second in command on her ship, ready to help lead the charge toward whatever goal Hadley aims for.​
