Ever since I first got into Exalted back in the earliest portion of First Edition I have termed the Exalted Essences that make the Exalted Exalted as Shards. I have noticed that a lot of people do the same, which causes me to wonder. I was wondering where whether this is an official concept or if it was made by fans. And if it was the second does anybody know when and who started it.

The core rulebook uses the word shard to describe it.

I'm pretty sure the first canon usage was the description of Lytek in the sidereal book. But yeah, also the main book now.

That was what I thought, but I was never sure. Do you either of you know where the word can be found in the Core book?


The question came up because one of the people on the official forums was yelling like a child against all those that used the word 'shard.'
