Exalted 2.5 First Age Characters

How many times have you been playing an Exalted character and looked longingly at Essence ratings of 5+? Wondering just how cool you could be if you had Attribute and Ability ratings of 6 before you add in any Charms? Well, here is your chance.

This game is a melding of Dreams of the First Age and the Second Age of Exalted. Characters are Exalts from the First Age that have been approached by a elder Sidereal, warning them of the calamity that is to come. For the next several years, you have then secretly hidden away a cache of weapons and equipment with the intent to go into stasis for a few hundred years, then emerge to a broken First Age and rebuild it. The problem is, you have slept for a little bit longer than you had planned. After 1500 years, Creation has crumbled farther than you had ever planned. Can you find it within yourself to be able to reclaim what was once yours?

Game Crunch

Everyone will be Established Exalts from DotFA, as either a Solar or Lunar.

The Established Solar begins with 9/7/6 Attributes, 45 dots of Abilities after Training Abilities, 20 dots of

Backgrounds, 35 Charms, five dots of Virtues, Essence of 4 and 35 bonus points.

The Established Lunar begins with 11/9/8 Attributes plus two dots to spend in Caste or Favored Attributes, 38 dots of Abilities after Training Abilities, 15 dots of Backgrounds, 30 Charms and/or shapeshifting Knacks, five dots of Virtues, Essence of 4 and 35 bonus points.

I am looking for some new players that I haven't gamed with before. Get some fresh blood, if you will. I'll accept 4-5 players and no more. I will require a fairly regular posting schedule, and if something comes up that you'll be offline for more than a few days, I would like to get some warning so I don't wonder where you have vanished off to.

Backgrounds are going to be tricky. You can only get points in stuff that will have survived the 1500 year downtime of your suspended animation, so no Backing, Contacts, or other items like that. I have already cut the number of background points down to represent that, but I will still nix anything that I feel won't work for the game.

Absolutely no Flaws. You are First Age Exalts of Essence 5-6! What Flaws would you have? Merits will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

Who will take up the call for glory?

I know I'm not exactly new blood, but if you'll have me, I'll join (no hard feelings if you disallow me, though! (^.^))

I can take you in. I've not had you in this game before. Start cooking up a character idea; I have a feeling that spots will fill quickly.

I actually was in this game the last time it came up, I played a Zenith who was all about self-perfection. This time I think I might play a Twilight Sorcerer and go for a support angle for my character.

Are you planning on updating this for 3E when it comes out? I get the feeling that it'll only be a month or two until then.

I'm planning on having you guys romping around my favorite city; Rathess. I think you were in the setting up North, weren't you?

And I have no idea at this time if I'll update this to 3e at all. It may take a while for enough books to come out if I get a mixed bag of Exalt types to get all the splatbooks in.

EDIT: I will say this for the spellcasters; My house rule is, if you get the Charm for Sorcery/Necromancy, you get a free spell of that Circle with it. It makes sense for me to say that, how do you have the knowledge to cast a spell, but with no bullets in your gun?

Admittedly already in one of yours but also interested.
Just so long as you can keep up with the posting schedule, I don't mind having you in.

So noted, I shall endeavor to do. I've honestly never gotten a taste of this level of Exatled.

No, we were in Rathess as well, one of our first major accomplishments was redeeming Filial Wisdom and getting his god arrested by heaven.

Would you be willing to negotiate a lower mote cost for Sorcery spells? Something like (spell cost/10)+10? Some of those spells get stupid expensive for their effective result.

I've played a E6 Lunar once, and it was awesome having that level of power. I have run this game before (as mentioned by JayTee), but I'm changing the setting to be starting out in Rathess instead of the far frozen North.

My advice to all is this: Spend your BP to raise your Essence up to at least 6. If not, you are somewhat missing the point of this game. It will not be all fighting and combat, but there will be some battles. This is primarily a nation builder, to see what kind of world you can forge in the Second Age.

@JayTee, I may have to bump you from this, since you have already seen the perils I plan on pulling on the group. It wouldn't be fair to everyone else.

If I may, dealing with Filial Wisdom is sort of expected if you plan on making your base in Rathess, so I don't really have that much foreknowledge compared to anyone else with decent awareness of Exalted's world.

No hard feelings if you decide to drop me, though ( :) )

Hmmm. Good point. Tell you what; I'll let you stay on. I like the way you game.

I am tempted to do a Lunar admittedly simply because their powers are fascinating. Outside of that I was eyeing a Dawn or Eclipse of some sort.

Aw, shucks, thanks!
(what are your thoughts on my sorcery house rule, btw?)
At this point, I will say 'no' to that, because you guys are going to be pretty powerful as it is. I don't want to go and try to tweak all the spells.

Lunars are my favorite class of Exalted, but I'll play any but an Infernal. They make my head hurt.

Cool deal. I still have a few spots to fill for those that are interested.

Do you have a copy of Dreams of the First Age? There are a lot of Charms/Knacks in there that you will want to look at, along with the 2.5 errata.

Very tempting to be able to be a Lunar able to go all Kaiju on enemy forces with Emperor Ox Expansion.

Oh god, I found the Swarm Knacks. I can take those, right? I'm finding a desire to make a Lunar whose a living natural disaster when he has to be.

Those are kinda oogie, but there is no reason you shouldn't be allowed to have them.

I know I technically don't qualify as someone you've never ran with before but, I'd still be interested in giving it a go. Assuming you'd have me along.
