The Purple Soul
You pull open the drawer.
A stack of various newspapers lay inside.
You sit down at your desk, and look through them.
You swear there were more...
Where could they have gone?

Fire Burns Down Las Vegas HotelTwo nights ago, on August 17th, 1989, a shocking discovery was made from locals and survivors of the incident. A fire had broken out at one of the most popular attractions in Las Vegas, the Vegas Illusion, an esteemed hotel unlike many of its kind. The fire had, reported the local fire department, been started by someone knocking over some kind of large candle during the event taking place at the time. Said event was in that of an illusionist magic show, hosted by the attraction and hotels main star, Mephisto the Magnificent. The flames licked the theater and stage the most, sadly not allowing for the master illusionist (and a few unlucky guests) to make it out as well. Though the authorities are still searching for their bodies, many are already presuming them dead.
Some of the survivors of the fire, guests who were able to escape the flames, gave varying stories upon what happened leading up to the blaze. Many said that it was a completely normal act, but some suspected that something was amiss, as Mephisto himself was acting odd. "His illusions were of a grandiose proportion," said one Moe Shtipe. "They were even more extravagant that that of his previous acts, as if this was some kind of finale". This story has been debated upon itself, but many others have confirmed that the acts performed before the disaster were indeed that of a 'farewell' event.

Refugee Monument Made on Island75 years after the tragic bombing of De Pausa Isle, people all around who have been affected still, come to the new memorial for the islanders on their last day. A beautiful arrangement of candles has been set up, with any pictures available as well, on the outer island to De Pausa itself, which is still undergoing legal work to open freely to visitors. A handful of the mourners on this occasion talked to us, expressing their regrets, and most importantly their concerns that they may never be able to see the place where their loved ones were last seen. There are many empty graves that were filled after the event, and still controversy surrounds the strange happening on that day back then.
For any readers who are unaware, on August 17th, 1944, the small community on De Pausa Isle was unaware of their future demise. The reason being? A celebration for anyone capable of attending for the 30th Year Anniversary of the Seven Sisters Sanatorium. The institution was one of the esteemed of its time, have no scandals on record, and always having good results with almost all of its patients. Any visitors always gave it kudos, saying the faculty was actually caring, and they didn't just want the money to lock your loved one in a room for days on end. The celebration the day of the incident was for the Sanatoriums opening, having climbed up the nations rankings since it first opened. Photos taken after the bombing revealed that most of the celebration had been outside, since it had been a very sunny day. However, the event was cut short when the bombs were dropped, surprisingly doing less damage to the village itself, as well as the island as a whole. However, most of the impact when to the topmost of the island: the Sanatorium and its patio. Many still wonder how so much of its survived such a beating, but nonetheless, its was severely damaged, including being cut off from the rest of the community, as the middle of the island (already being unstable) had broken off into the ocean.
Today, we ask that you join the mourners in their sorrow over the ones lost to the destruction and hatred that killed such innocence on that day.

Missing Reports Begin to Pile; Police Baffled by Various Cases Recently, the media and police force in the small town of Ravenswood, Indiana, has been all but. However, this isn't your average small town crime or gang of punks messing about. Something much bigger has begun, as people have begun to disappear in copious amounts over the past few days. The sleepy town of Ravenswood was only known for one thing: It's large collection of artifacts and memorabilia of to the renowned poet and novelist, Edgar Allen Poe. However, this was before this August, when a family called in to claim that their daughter, Cassandra, a sophomore at Edgar Allen High, had gone missing. The family had just gotten back from seeing a movie at the local theatre, and became very frightened when they found their home deserted. The police first thought this was a break-in, but there were no signs of forced entry, and the doors and windows had not been unlocked since Cassandra was left alone.
We were able to get a few statements about Cassandra's case with the investigation team who worked on it. Deputy Viola, the second-in-command of the Ravenswood Police Agency, had this to say. "We investigated the scene of the crime, sure that the girl had either snuck out, or someone had been in the house with her. But even after combing the home top to bottom, we found nothing. No signs of a struggle, no influence other than a blanket and a book that Cassandra must have been reading before her disappearance. And that was before the others started disappearing as well." A few day after the girls case began, a boy and his father were said to have been missing from a family gathering that night. The search had the same results, though the fathers watch was identified on the floor of a local grocer. Then, two days later, another missing. Then another. People in this small town are going left and right, as if the universe itself is pulling back the abyss.
Currently, there are still no leads to the whereabouts of this case. Luckily, Edgar Allen Highs school term will be beginning again shortly, helping adults keep an eye on any targeted children.
