Fantasy Everything Is Not As It Seems...

"Thats why you guys need each other. " he said looking sternly at her "You don't realize it now, but the only way you guys will get through this and this will work out for everyone, is for you five to work together and rely on each other. I don't know all the answers and I don't know who does, but turning against each other, even if one of you makes a really big mistake" he paused to show her that he was talking about Oliver "is not going to solve anything."

"Well tell the bastard that!" Lake snapped and jumped up from the table. "He was the one that almost killed Cole, not me!" She kicked the table that she had been sitting on backwards, not even caring when it tipped before she turned back to Tobias. "You say you don't know who knows, but then you also don't know who you work for! You could even be one of the bad guys, trying to keep us "hidden" from the good guys! How do I know that you aren't the villain?! You almost fried Oliver on the first day and I don't see you showing any emotions when it comes to Cole! One of your "heroes" is basically lying on his deathbed!"

He snorted in contempt. "Oh please" he said very casually "He'll be out of that coma in a week tops. You guys obviously don't understand how advanced you are. That voltage that would kill any normal human will put one of you in a coma for a week max. You don't need to worry. And as for Oliver, it was the best way to reveal his powers. We are the good guys, whether you believe it or not."

"Fine, you win." Lake snarled. "Happy now?" She asked. "You're price; a junky that is about to bust in every scull that passes her way. Why don't you know anything?! It's like you're just some substitute teacher that doesn't know squad about anyone or anything, just the reason why he's there!" Lake stomped out of the room, but said one more thing before slamming the door shut. "We aren't a team, we will never be a team! You know why? Because I am fucking quitting this bullshit! No proper answers, no hero." With that she slammed the door shut and stomped towards her room to go pack her stuff.

Tobias sighed and clicked a small button on his watch. "Alpha team 3" he said into it "Be on standby for containment of Agent 719 for the next few days, we may need it. " A slight crackle was heard, followed by a "Roger that Head Eagle."

Sapphira walked out of Lake's room after the two had gone. She leaned against the doorpost, looking at Oliver. "What the hell have we gotten ourselves into?"

Lake stormed through her door and grabbed the nearest duffle bag. She just emptied her closet and stuffed all her clothes in it. Dropping the bag, she walked to her desk to write a note for Cole incase he woke up when she was gone.

I was about to answer Sapphira when Lake burst into her room and started packing a bag. "Where the hell do you think you're going?" I asked loudly walking to her door frame.

"Away." Lake said and handed Sapphira the note she wrote for Cole. "I'm quitting." She was more exhausted then anything else. "I know what you're gonna say, okay? So save it. I can't do this. The took me away from my not so real parent, took my drugs and then they expect me to this thing without knowing how, or what, or why." She counted on her fingers. "Not even Tobias knows the answers, he doesn't even know who he works for! You can't just put a junky, princess, pikachu, Ms. Psychic and Mr. Comatose in something like this without answers. You might not know this, but my skin is burning, my head feels like it's going to burst in two and my hands are itching for drugs." Lake stuffed her hands in her pocket and took a deep breath. "I'm gonna go look for my real parents, maybe they'll take me back, but I'm not staying here anymore."

"So you blame me for everything you never got to say or do with Cole" I said frustrated "And your solution is to leave him with a note? I may have done something that put him in a coma, but if you're just gone when he wakes up, you'll be doing a lot more then that. You'll destroy him."

"I don't blame you for that!" Lake hissed snappingly. "I blame you for fucking putting him there! What else am I supposed to do?! Do you know when he's going to wake up? Do you know how he's going to get out of his coma? He could have brain damage and maybe not even remember anything! Look." She took a quick calming breath. "Cole and I are not a thing, okay? He'll get over me, everybody does. Once you guys save the world I would be like an annoying memory still snapping at you in the back of your mind. I want to know what's going on, don't you?" She looked Oliver straight in the eye, she knew that she didn't have any anger left, this was out of desperation. She needed to make the puzzle pieces fit.

I hesitated. She was right, I really did want answers, but leaving wasn't the answers. "Don't leave" I implored to her "Stay and we can help each other find answers. Just leaving is not going to help anything."

"But staying here won't give us answers either." Lake argued, though didn't get angry. "I want to go back to the facility, see if there are any clues there, just a name of our real parents can help. Maybe they know things. Maybe we didn't look enough around the facility, we could have missed something… I know sure as hell that we won't find anything here. Tobias only knows what we already know. We can't just sit here and do nothing! We can't pretend to be students because we're not. We're a target if we stay here, and not only we get hurt, but others too."

"But-" I began but paused. She was right, there was no ways we could get answers at the school. We had to go out and find them in the world. "Ok, how about this" I proposed "Stay for two weeks tops, give Cole a chance to wake up and Tobias a chance to trust us enough that he stops keeping surveillance on us, and after two weeks we can all go find some answers. Together. "

Sapphira nodded. "I like that idea," she added softly. "Look, I want answers as much as any of you. I don't like being kept in the dark either. But going off by yourself won't do you any good. Besides, don't you think Cole wants answers, too?"

Lake sighed and looked at her feet, taking of her cap to run a hand through her hair. "Yeah, I guess." She mumbled. "But I wouldn't stay here longer than a week. I mean, we had only been at the facility for how long? Those bastards are good and I don't know what they hit me with, but I know that it almost killer me if it hadn't been for that weird injection. They could find us within days, hours maybe if they want to." She said. "I don't trust this place. I don't trust Tobias. I don't trust the kids we played soccer with. I don't trust you." Lake said pointing her finger at Oliver. "You put Cole into a coma, accident or not, he's still in a hospital bed thanks to you." She lowered her hand and also took a look at Sapphira, snatching back the note before ripping it to pieces. "I'll stay for a week. In that week you also have to prove to me that I can trust you." Lake turned her head towards Oliver again. "You gave me another chance so I will give you another as well, the last one, deal?"

Sapphira took heart in the fact that Lake hadn't specifically said that Sapphira wasn't trusted. She wasn't sure Lake trusted her, but at least Lake hadn't made a point to say so. Sapphira wasn't sure that she trusted Lake, either. Either way, she spoke up, "A week sounds find. We'll see where things go from there."

Lake took another deep breath and exhaled in annoyance. "Now I have to go unpack again." She mumbled and clicked her tongue. "Come on, Saph, you can help me out." Lake grabbed the said girl by the back of her shirt and wanted to slam the door shut, only to be reminded that there wasn't one. "You need to get that fixed." She pointed at Oliver before dragging Sapphira into her room. "Come on, help me unpack so we can go find another guitar."

I had followed Lake silently and listened to the conversation. I decided to stay quiet, hoping it was for the best. Once Lake went into her dorm with Sapphira, I leaned against the wall, putting my head in my hands, trying not to cry.

I nodded and walked down the corridor, untill I saw Aurora leaning against the wall, looking like she was about to start crying. "Hey" I said walking over and putting my hands on her shoulders "What's wrong"

"I can't do this. I'm tired of it I need answers now," I said softly with an obvious shaky voice. I didn't want to cry but it was becoming evident I had no choice. I looked down and started sobbing.

I wrapped my arms around her carefully and pulled her into a tight hug. "We're all going to find them together" I said softly into her ear "you just gotta hold out until then, okay? I'll be here with you every step of the way."

I tried to calm down, but to no avail. I sighed softly and wiped my eyes as I laid my head on his shoulder. I wrapped my arms tightly around him in a hug, not wanting to let go at the moment. "I can try," she said softly with her voice barely a whisper.

I smiled and eventually pulled back smiling at her. "Come on, I need to go get Lake a new door" I said laughing a little "because I'm apparently her slave till she forgives me"
