Event #1: An Introduction to the World

Servo paused for a moment, thinking. He didn't like how she just glossed over where they were going, but the mention of superheroes during world war two caught his attention.
A few moments later it suddenly clicked, as he began to access lists of heroes operating during that time.

"Wait, you're Weaponary! You fought with The Legends during the war!" he said as the trepidation about following her vanished. "Oh, thank god you're one of the good guys." he added as almost an afterthought. If it was possible for a robot to look excited, Servo most certainly did. It showed in his voice, at least.

Weaponary smiled. This kid was a quick thinker. And they were where they needed to be. Right in front of city hall where the statue of Planeterian was.

“Indeed.” She said. “I am Weaponary. And you are going to be the first people since the 1950s to see the base of the Legends.”

She lifted her hand up and placed ot on the planet symbol on Planeterians chest. Am eye scanner emerged from planetarian’s eye. “Weaponary, Chie Sato.” Said a robotic female voice. “How many today?”

“Three.” Weaponary said.

“Only two life forms detected.” The voice said.

“Fine. Two then.” Weaponary said, only a bit annoyed. She turned to the two behind her. “Hold close together you two. Your riding the same tube.” And before they could ask questions they were all sucked down into the tube system and down to the base.

Servo wasn't entirely sure if he'd heard her correctly. They came to a stop in front of the statue of Planetarian, but there was nothing really of interest there. He'd seen the statue hundreds of times before, but as she placed her hand on the symbol he found himself shocked.

The base of The Legends? That was impossible. He had always wondered what it would look like, and now he was going to get the chance to see it. If there was anywhere in the city he'd find the equipment he needed for repairs, this was going to be it. His head tilted slightly when she said they would be riding the same tube, but before he could ask what that even meant the ground opened up underneath him and X-Metal.

He let out a startled yell as they vanished underground, not expecting the sudden ride. Before he knew it, the ride was over, and he was standing deep underground with the other two.

The base of the Legends was pretty impressive. High tech equipment was everywhere. There were catwalks aplenty. Old suits from the war days were on display. They even had a waterfall. What took the cake was the giant supercomputer in the center. X-metal whistled.

“This stuff is way past the 40s technology level.” He said in awe. “And it all looks brand new.”

“Yeah,” Weaponary said. “It is. Because it’s all new. The base has been remodeled. We’re starting the Legends program back up soon and are looking for potential recruits. By the way, the two of you held your own in a fight pretty well today. I might put in a good word with the boss.”

That was heavy. They were looking for potential recruits. For a new legends team. And Weaponary thought they did pretty well. X-metal nearly collapsed. Them he realized that was because he had let go of Servo. Weaponary was quick to catch him.

“Woah there. Let’s get you to the hospital bay.” Weaponary said. She turned to Servo. “And you can check out the lab. Might be able to fix yourself. It’s pretty clearly marked so it Won’t be hard to find.”

Servo most certainly wasn't prepared for what he saw. A huge underground base, filled to the brim with the most advanced technology available. He also noticed some that wasn't available, to the general public anyways. He stared in awe as Weaponary spoke, only snapping out of his daze when she mentioned they were recruiting for a new band of Legends. His eyes turned to her, and widened significantly when she mentioned putting in a good word for the both of them.

He honestly wasn't sure if he'd heard her right. He wasn't a superhero, or even superhero material in his mind, but he could tell that she wasn't joking.
"Wait, seriously?" he asked. He was so shocked by the news that he'd hardly noticed X-Metal nearly collapse, but luckily Weaponary was there to catch him. He felt a pang of guilt for not being there, but it quickly vanished as she mentioned the lab. He simply nodded, and as the two of them left he looked around in awe.

The old suits were what caught his eye first. He stared at them for a few long seconds, unsure if he was dreaming. Could he even still have dreams? He wasn't sure, but this certainly felt like one. He took his time wandering the base until he found the lab. It was filled with all of the latest technology, along with several items he didn't even recognize. If he'd had this kind of setup when he was creating the 01...

He decided it was probably best that he didn't touch anything he wasn't already familiar with, and began working on reattaching his arm.

Meanwhile...

The Grey was less than content. Ronin had been beaten and now there were three of them. And one of them was Weaponary.

“Grr... When I get my hands on him...” The Grey growled, dropping his usual cocky demeanor. He was not happy. Not happy at all. He needed to go.

“Pack everything up!” He shouted to his hired muscle. “We’re moving to a more secure location! A couple of you stay behind to tell Ronin about it! As worthless as he is he’s still better than you lot!”

“Sir, your benafactor is on the phone.” The woman he’d hired to act as a “secretary” to him (the more accurate term was hired muscle who also handled calls) said.

The Grey took the phone from her. He held it up to his ear.

“Hey! Bossman!” He sais, his usual demeanor coming back. No reason to sound angry in front of the guy giving him stuff. “Yes, I’ll keep my end of the deal. Yes I understand that. No I don’t think you smuggled that stuff out of London for nothing. Speaking of, we’re moving to a mew location tonight. No! No! We’re fine! Everythings fine! The heroes don’t suspect a thing! Okay, bye.”

The Grey was worried. He really needed to pull this off or everything would be gone.

Ronin, in a word, was furious. He knew that Sandra wasn't going to be happy about his failure, even when he explained that the boy wasn't alone. When he failed, that meant another surgery to try and 'fix' the failure, and when Sandra was angry, that meant no anesthetic.

He made his way back to the docks, ignoring the searing pain and the warning messages popping up in his HUD, but by the time he got there the Grey and his lackeys were gone. There was one left that told him where they had gone, and as thanks Ronin drew his sword and cut the man apart. It only helped his mood slightly, and he quickly turned to go join the others.
---

Servo was astounded at how quickly the repairs were going. It was amazing what you could accomplish with state of the art equipment. It was a little disconcerting, having to reattach your own arm, but he quickly got over it and realized that this probably wasn't going to be the last time it would happen.
What he did notice was strange was the fact that the metal where the limb was severed was melted slightly. The attacker's sword was an odd, glowing purple, leaving Servo to assume that it couldn't be tech from this world.

The sword hadn't been attached to any sort of power source, and he couldn't think of anything small enough to heat a blade to that temperature and still be attached to the weapon. It made him more curious, if anything, though he knew he never wanted to run into that guy again.

Scott looked over to Centurion City as he was flying toward it admiring the buildings and bright lights, tucking his hands into his pockets. By the time he has made his journey here, he already had his own costume, which looked like a bad Halloween cosplay, but he didn't seem to care.

"'This is a super as it gets', they say." He spoke to himself as he flew, electricty trailing behind him before fading into the air. Once he was close enough to the buildings, he stopped, levitating as he got a closer look at them. "Hm."

EDU emergency underground base #25, Location Unknown...

The Grey looked up from his tablet where he was ordering shipments of weapons out to buyers when he heard footsteps. Those footsteps apparently belonged to Ronin.

“Ronin!” He said, his voice equal parts tense and his usual upbeat demeanor. He got up from his chair, a cane in his hand, a blaster at his side. “How wondeful to see you again!” He reached the bottom of the steps leading up to the chair. He drew his blaster, aimed, and fired, at the same time slamming his cane on the floor and creating a forcefield around himself.

“You bastard!” His voice was raised and he was now shouting, clear anger in his voice. “You complete and utter ****ing idiot of a bastard!” He shot at the idiot again. You let them get away and now they’re probably on to us! We only have a matter of time until we have some of earth’s strongest heroes on our doorstep! That was ****ing Weaponary! One of the original ****ing heroes! How do you know you don’t have a tracking device on you! You’re lucky our bug scanner didn't catch anything because otherwise the entire firepower of this base would be aimed at you!” While he was angry it was very clear that he knew that Ronin was powerful and beyond his capability to take out without a forcefield and a **** ton of weaponry. “And if they had bugged you? What then! What’s your defence! Is it “I’m to smart for that”!? Because that’s a ****ing lie! You’re not smart! You don’t even think! You only take orders! We both know that you would strike me dead if you didn’t have orders from the woman in the high tower!” He shot Ronin again. “You are consistantly, unquestionably loyal to a woman who treats you about as well as a confederate treats a slave! A woman who’s even more evil than me! You are an utter bastard! You are the worst person imaginable! Simply put You! are! A! FAILURE!” He shot him one time for each of those last four words. Finally, The Grey calmed down. “Now, because I’m better than that monster you work for, I will not punish you. Instead, I will give you the task of going out and recovering every single lost piece of alien tech we’ve lost in the countless battles between our idiot customers and super heroes.” and with that, the Grey sauntered back up the steps or his seat and sat down.

Scott flew around the city's buildings and landmarks after overlooking the city for a couple of moments. He traveled through the tourist district of Centurion City, looking at all the people down below. Some looked up to the unfamiliar cloud of electricity trailing behind him, while others looked amazed. He flew past the EDU Corporation building, inspecting it as he went by, before finally settling down in front of the city's main city hall, and the giant statue that stood before it. He tucked his hands into his jean pockets, somewhat amazed by the the statue itself.

"Super. Where're the heroes though...." He asked himself, his voice barely muffled by the grey & blue half-mask he wore. Scott looked on either side of him, but all he saw were cars and the public.

Now that everyone was patched up, it was time to go. Weaponery activated the reverse tubes, a much nicer ride since they were just elevators. Up, up, and up and out in front of the Planetarian statue where someone was standing. Whoops. Well, there goes secrecy.

Scott had his back turned to the statue, as was just about ready to leave until he heard several footsteps right behind him. He mistook it for some pedestrians walking by, however, walking away from the statue.

X-metal looked at the strangely dressed stranger. He looked like he was wearing a bad halloween costume. Clearly he was a hero cause it sure as hell wasn't halloween and comic con was next month.

"Hey you!" X-metal called. "You a superhero?"

Scott stopped in his tracks, looking over his shoulder to the person that asked him the question. He thought about how he should respond, before speaking out to him.

"Depends on who you ask."

Ronin paused as the Grey took a step towards him, though he wasn't expecting to be suddenly fired on like he was. The first shot connected, knocking him back a short distance, and in a flash his sword was drawn as he deflected the additional shots as the Grey unleashed his frustrations on him. It wasn't the fact that the man was shooting at him that angered him, it was the words he spoke with each pull of the trigger that did.

Ronin's eye never left him, even as he sat down and gave him a task as if his outburst hadn't ever happened. Ronin's blade did not return to its sheath, his grip on it tightening.
"You may fire at me all you wish, but I will not tolerate you speaking ill of the Mistress." he said flatly, reaching up to pull the patch over his cybernetic off. He let it flutter to the floor, leveling his blade at the seated man.
"You have spoken words of sedition. It is clear to me that you will eventually become a threat to our cause." he said, taking a few steps towards him.

"The penalty of which is death." At that he suddenly lunged at the man, his blade pulled back as he prepared to slice him clean in half. He moved at a blistering pace, yet he knew he was too far away for the attack to be an instantaneous one.

The Grey only had time to think Oh Shit before Ronin was in front of him, his sword connecting with the force feild.

"Force Feild integrity at 50% and dropping." a robotic voice told him.

"10%"

The Grey was starting to have reservations. He should have listened to what his mother had said. "Become a lawyer, honey. You're perfect for the job." In hindsight, he realized that was an insult. Nevertheless, he had tried but dropped out of law school.

"9%"

"7%"

"5%"

"2%"

"1%"

The force feild broke. The force of which threw Ronin back far enough to buy the Grey a few seconds. He couldn't run. He had nowhere to go. So he resorted to firing randomly and fastly, most of his shots missing and the few that did hit did nothing.

Well I'm asking you." X-metal said to the strange costumed man. "Are you a superhero?"

X-metal was going with yes. If he was a supervillain he would have killed them by now.

Scott never looked back, facing forward again with a simple reply.

"You could say that. You'll find out. Eventually."

And before the person talking to him could sputter another word, Scott was engulfed by a bright light of blue electricity, then gone, as the light faded away, leaving no trace behind.

The breaking of the force field caused Ronin to slide backwards, but the moment he regained grip he launched himself to the side. He avoided most of the errant blasts, deflected a few, and ignored the ones that connected. He was bound by honor to his Mistress, and there was nobody that would sway him.

He launched himself towards his target, deflecting a few last errant blasts before running the man straight through the chest. With a low growl he ripped the blade out and stepped back, slicing him from shoulder to hip before finishing his assault. As the Grey crumpled to the ground he turned, pointing the blade at the nearest henchman.
"I am now in control of this operation. Anyone who opposes me is more than welcome to step forward." he growled, the blood on the blade boiling and hissing. After a moment, nobody stepped forward, and he flicked the blood from his blade before sheathing it.

"Good. You, gather a team and collect every stolen piece of tech you can find. And you-" he pointed at another henchman that paled when he was called out.
"-Get this pile of trash out of here. Dump him in the sewer or something, I don't care." he said, making his way to the Grey's previous seat. He picked up the tablet, pulling a thin wire from his arm before plugging it into the device. He had a lot to report to Sandra...

EDU Corp Building,
Sandra Allan's Office

Sandra Allan sat in her office enjoying a movie, comedies were her favorite, when she got a call. She put it up on the screen, pausing her movie. The face of Ronin appeared on the screen. He looked as if he just killed someone.

"This had better be good!" She snapped. "You interrupted my movie!"

Ronin hadn't bothered to grab his eye patch, or even to clean the blood from his face. Neither fact detracted from the fact that there was a look of determination on his face, one that Sandra would know well.
"The Grey was a liability. He openly attacked me and spoke seditiously of you, so I was forced to take action. I have taken over his operation, unless you find someone more suitable for the job, Mistress." he said. Though the fact that she had snapped at him shook him to the core, he didn't show a sign of it on his face.

Sandra adopted a look of thoughtfulness. This was certainly an interesting development. Now that that fool "The Grey" was out of the way they could start directly traffiking the weapons.

She chuckled. "You have done well Ronin. Any word on the X-metal suit?" Sandra said the suits name with distaste. One, it was stolen from her and was the most powerful tech she'd ever layed her hands on and two, the name was si ply dreadful. She'd have to change it once it was back in her possesion.

Ronin paused, his elation at Sandra's praise vanishing the moment she mentioned the X-Metal suit.
"Yes. I confronted the thief earlier this evening, but was unable to recover the suit. Weaponary appeared and stopped me, and after sustaining heavy damage I was forced to retreat. Once I have completed my repairs, I will make another attempt." he explained, knowing she wasn't going to be happy about that news.

Several emotions flashed across Sandra's face. Contentness, anger, interest, anger, and finally just plain miffed. Sandra was angry about the suit but it was lessened by the fact that a member of the Legends had shown up. Apparently, they weren't all dead.

"Very well." Sandra said finally. "Your punishment will not be as bad as it would normally be due to these recent interesting events and the acquirement of a new source of revenue for the more... shady aspects of the company." Sandra paused. She really shouldn't have Ronin be running the smuggling operation. He had more important things to do. Finally she spoke again. "I will be sending a high ranking ataff member down to oversee the smuggling operation so as to free you up for more important things. Goodbye." Sandra closed the call and went back to her movie. She was very happy.

As Ronin waited for her response, fear slid through his body like a snake. He was expecting her to be furious with him, to bring him in immediately to pay for his mistake. Instead she surprised him, informing him that his punishment would not be severe. He nodded as she finished speaking, and as the communication cut off he let out a long sigh and sat back in his stolen throne.

After a moment he turned his focus to his repairs, knowing that he would need to get those done and out of the way first.
