Event #1: An Introduction to the World

Jacob heard a commotion and looked out his window. What he saw shocked him. Some maniac with a sword had seemingly killed four students. And he looked kind of familiar. Jacob shrugged. Maybe he had been on the news. He seemed like a supervillain so that made sense. Jacob couldn't worry about that now, though. The guy was hurting innocents and he couldn't allow that. Running downstairs, Jacob sneaked out a back door and suited up. This was proceeded by him jumping onto the roof of the school. He walked up to the edge of the building and shouted down at the sword guy.

"Hey! Stop right there!"

Meanwhile...

The grey was watching what was going on through a drone he had sent after Ronin. A hero had just appared and that meant he had been nerby. He was probably the one who had disabled the tracker. Meanwhile the thugs handed funybone his weapons and bid him farewell.

Ronin

The signal from the X-Metal suit only got stronger, confirming Ronin's theory. The test subject was here at the University. When X-Metal appeared on the roof, Ronin was already staring at the spot where he emerged, a stony look on his face.
"Relinquish the suit, thief." he called up to him, drawing his blade again. It pulsed with a purple light, waves of heat coming from the blade. "Or I start killing them." He took a step towards a nearby student that was screaming in pain, gripping his arm where Ronin had cut him. The tip of the blade came within an inch of the student's face, Ronin's eye locked on the test subject standing on the roof.

"Or come down here and try to stop me, so I can take the suit back by force."

Thief? Why was the strange sword man calling X-metal a thief. And how did he know about the suit. Was he there when the suit had been tested on him? X-metal didn't remember that.

"Lok man, I don't k ow who you are or what you want." X-metal said, almost tauntingly. He fired off a couple of laser blasts at the man. "But theres no way I'm coming down there. You'd rip me to shreds. Instead I'll stay up here where it's safe." X-metal fired off two more shots to be sure.

Ronin

Did he really not remember? Or was he just playing dumb? Either way, Ronin wasn't in the mood to play games. He was stuck babysitting a pair of idiots because he let the test subject escape, and now he finally had the chance to redeem himself. He easily sidestepped the first two blasts, his blade a purple blur as he deflected the next two shots without so much as taking his eye off his target. "A prudent strategy, if a flawed one." he said, not seeming bothered by the fact that he'd just been shot at.

He reached up and lifted his eye patch for a moment, the twitching cybernetic eye locked on X-Metal as he analyzed the suit. After a few moments he lowered the patch and crouched, before suddenly launching himself forward. He moved with blistering speed at the wall, then switched directions and began running straight up it, his eye locked on his target. He cleared the distance between them in seconds, and was soon within striking range.

BOOOOOOOOOM

The blade connected with the armor and X-metal was sent flying backwards straight through a wall and into a classroom. The strike had left X-metal relatively unnafected. The armor, not so much. The eyepiece was giving off red alerts. And there was a giant hole in X-metal's chest. Nevertheless, X-metal stood up, dazed but nit defeated.

"Th-That's how you want to play it huh?" He said, his voice hoarse.

He took off. Running straight towards the man X-metal cocked back his fist. If he was going down he was going down fighting. And if this guy wanted the suit, the least X-metal could do was make sure it was broken beyond use.

Ronin

As his target flew backwards, Ronin quickly sheathed his blade. He was to return the suit as undamaged as possible, and considering that his first strike hit with little difficulty he could only assume that the thief was inexperienced in close combat. His stance changed, his hands coming up as X-Metal rushed at him. His stance shifted slightly as he sidestepped the punch, answering the attack with one of his own, aimed at X-Metal's torso. The suit was already weakened there, and if he could damage the suit's processors he could effectively shut it down.

Servo
After the bank robbery, Servo had managed to find a quiet place near the university to tinker with the gun he'd taken. He had found the tracking device and got rid of it, already feeling paranoid enough. He had just managed to integrate the weapon's internals into his forearm when the sounds of a battle nearby caught his attention, though he couldn't see what was going on from the alleyway he'd hidden himself in. He wanted to step in and help, but the fear of revealing himself to the public nearly crippled him.
Deciding to get to the rooftops to get a better look, he quickly clambered up a nearby wall. On the rooftop across the street he could see X-Metal fighting with... someone he didn't recognize.

"Auugh!" X-metal shouted in pain as he was knocked down. Things didn't seem to be going well for him. At all. He was on the ground now, making him an easy target. There wasn't much you could do when you were lying prone. Except one thing. X-metal's legs swung around, aiming to sweep Sword Guy off his feet.

Ronin

Ronin stood tall over the thief, his hand reaching for the hilt of his sword. The fight was much easier than he'd anticipated, and for the briefest of moments he let his guard slip. That was just enough time for the kick to connect with his legs, knocking his feet out from under him. His hand hit the ground first, fingers latching into the roof as the rest of his body twisted unnaturally until his other hand joined the first. His knees bent backward, and once he had settled he was on all fours, his eye locked on X-Metal. "You managed to catch me off-guard. I'm impressed." he leered, grinning. He stood to his full height once again, but before he could focus on killing his opponent a sudden blast from across the street caught him in the arm. It launched him to the side, and he slid to a stop several feet away.

"L-Leave him alone!" Servo yelled from across the street, the barrel of the energy weapon glowing. He took a running leap and landed on the University's rooftop, but before he could get another shot off, Ronin had recovered. There was a purple flash as Servo raised his arm to fire, and the next moment his arm was sliced clean off at the elbow. Though he didn't feel any pain, Servo let out a scream of surprise and stumbled backwards, just narrowly avoiding another swing that would have sliced him in half.
"Stay out of this." Ronin growled, his arm sparking and smoking where the shot had hit.

While Servo's effort seemed valiant, it hadn't seemed to do much. Luxkily, it hadn't needed to do much. It was distracting enough for X-metal to pull a come back. X-metal got shakily to his feet, steadied himself, and fired three shots directly at ronin's back.

Ronin & Servo

Though Servo took a few steps backward, he stood his ground and stared down the sword-wielding madman. "I won't." he said, a surprising amount of bravery in his voice. Ronin's eye narrowed slightly, but as he moved to cut down the robot he heard three shots get fired. Two hit their target, colliding with his back, but the third he managed to sidestep and deflect. The last shot was deflected directly into Servo, connecting with his chest and sending the robot tumbling to the ground. He turned to face X-Metal, his sword raised.

"Not only are you a thief, but you are completely without honor." he growled. "Not that it matters. Both you and the suit are expendable." he said, and in a blur of motion he lowered the tip of the blade, thrusting it at X-Metal's chest.

BackSet BackSet

"AUUUUUGGG!!!" X-metal cried out in pain. Except it wasn't pain. It was more lf X-metal crying out and expecting pain. But none came. he opened his eyes. Standing above him was a woman in camo blocking his attacker's strike.

"It is you who are without honor!" Weaponary said, pushing Sword Dude back. "To attack a child in such a way!"

Ronin

Ronin was caught off guard by the white-haired woman, and slid to a stop several feet away after he was shoved back. His grip shifted on his sword, moving from an offensive to a defensive stance. "That 'child' has stolen a very valuable piece of experimental equipment." he growled. "I am under direct orders to retrieve that suit at any cost, and you will not stand in my way." He ignored the flashing warnings in his HUD, and the sparking from his arm. His systems were registering severe damage already, and he could tell by the stance the woman had that she would present a greater problem than the test subject and the robot did.

Regardless, he stood his ground. "Step aside and let me do my job." he warned her. "This is the last warning I will give you."

BackSet BackSet

Weaponary assumed a defensive stance, waiting for her enemy to make the first move.

"I assume those children down there are thieves too." Weaponary said. It was quite obvious they were not. "I warn you, I will not stand down. I've faced much worse opponents than you. And my honor is unbreakable."

Ronin

Ronin's lips pulled into the smallest of smirks at her words. "Acceptable casualties, that did their job of drawing him out perfectly." he replied. His stance shifted slightly, his eye locked on her. "If you will not stand down, then you will die. If that's what you choose-" he paused, reaching up to pull his eye patch off, revealing the twitching cybernetic implant. "Then so be it."

His eye began to overload him with information, but before he could get overwhelmed he suddenly shot forward at her, his blade moving in a blur. He launched into a flurry of attacks, moving at an inhuman speed.

Inhuman speed meet inhuman reflexes. Weaponary had had over 100 years to perfect her fighting style. She blocked every slash he threw at her, every stab. Sowrd fighting was her forte and her bones hadn't started deteriorating yet. Behind her, X-metal, still injured, laughed weakly at Ronin.

"I don't know what would be sadder." X-metal said weakly. "You not recognizing her or you tecognizing her and still deciding to attack one of America's greatest heroes."

Ronin

Ronin's eye registered every movement, but as each strike landed he found it was blocked or deflected. His blade left glowing blurs as his attacks picked up speed, pushing faster to try and find an opening. With each blocked strike he felt his temper rising, frustration bubbling in his veins. X-Metal's words only pushed his irritation further. He didn't know who she was, but he knew there was no way that anyone on this planet could be a better swordsman than him.

Amidst the flurry of strikes, his damaged arm suddenly sparked again, causing a hitch in his momentum. The arm locked up for a split second, forcing him to leave an opening.

There. One split second. Weaponary was a master swordswoman and recognized the opening immediately. She took the oppurtunity and slashed her sword in a disarming motion, aiming at the attackers sword.

Ronin

The damage caused to his body had left an opening he hadn't intended. Weaponary's sword caught his by the guard, ripping the weapon free from his grasp and sending it flying over the edge of the building. He took a step back, cursing under his breath as the cybernetic eye began processing information at a faster rate. He as at a disadvantage without his weapon, and the smart thing to do would be to retreat, but he took up an unarmed stance, his eyes locked on Weaponary.

"If you think disarming me is going to change anything, you are horribly mistaken." he said sharply. His normally calm demeanor had shifted, his fingers twitching with anticipation of the next attack. His fist suddenly closed as small hatches opened on his forearm, launching a salvo of micro-rockets at his adversary.

Weaponary reestablished a combat stance. “I would expect nothing less.” She said and did her best to dodge the missles. She managed to overshoot one and ran straight into the path of another, just managing to avoid it doing serious damage but instead it clipped her.

She let put a little yelp before landing on her feet.

“Impressive.” She said. “But you still will not win.”

She took out her gun and fired off three shots.

Ronin held his stance as she got clipped by the rocket, cursing under his breath. The blast, though small, should have done more damage than it had, and his predictionary software was blaring retreat orders at him. He was far too damaged to continue fighting, she would have to be someone to face down when he was back at full again.

He swatted away the bullets like they were mosquitoes, staring her down for a moment. He could continue fighting, but the chance of him losing a limb was high. With a curse he dropped out of his stance and walked over to his eye patch, picking it up. "I'll be keeping an eye on you." he said, looking straight at X-metal. "The next time I come for you, there won't be anyone to stop me from taking that suit back."

His hand reached to his belt, and he suddenly flung a small device towards the group. It exploded in a flash of blinding light, and in the instant it went off he was gone. His sword had left a small crater in the concrete below, but that was the only sign of the blade being there.

---
A few moments after the attacker's disappearance, Servo moved over towards the other two. He kept some distance from the woman, and if his robotic face was capable of showing emotion it would be obvious that he was apprehensive of her.
"Uh... Okay first, that guy's kind of a dick. Are you two all right?" he asked, reaching down to pick up his severed arm. It would be a pain to reattach, but the cut was clean enough that a few hours welding and rerouting wires and he'd be fine.

X-metal rubbed the damaged parts of his armor. He was feeling a lot of pain. At least one rib was broken. This was the first time he’d been in a superhero fight this bad.

“Sucky.” He said, wincing at the pain of turning around. “But my armor took most of the damage.” He then turned, wincing again, to Weaponary. “Thanks for the help.” He said.

“You are welcome.” Weaponary said, serious. “But it would appear the two of you need immediate medical attention and repairs. Come with me.”

She leaped off the rooftop amd X-metal made to follow, and fell down. “Um, a little help here.” He called. Damn that hurt.

Servo paused for a moment. He really didn't want to follow this woman, but at the same time he knew it would be a pain to source the equipment needed to fix himself up. He finally decided to follow, dropping off the roof next to where X-metal had fallen.

Without thinking twice he reached down and helped him up, keeping a hold on him so he could walk. "Here, lean on me. You're lucky she showed up, you know." he said, following the strange woman. "Who was that guy, anyways? He was calling you a thief?"

X-metal leaned on Servo, thankful for the help. He didn’t mind answering some questions. And that was a good one. Who was that guy? Jacob had a hypothesis.

“Well, I didn’t exactly get my suit through legitamate means.” He said, grunting. “I kind of stole it. But I didn’t mean to. I didn’t even know I would end up with the suit. Just one day I was knocked out and woke up in a lab woth a suit on. Next thing I knew I was running. It was like an animal. Running on instinct. Using what I had when I was cornered.” X-metal was suprised how fast the analogy came to him. Though, he supposed it made sense. Thank you high school psycology class. “I ran, beat up people, and blasted a hole through the window. That guy must work for the people I stole it from.”

It wasn’t a bad hypothesis. On closer inspection, that guy’s cybernetics and armor looked like a early prototype for supersoilderw, remanisamt of the X-metal suit. Only Sandra hadn’t had the X-metal files yet. And she didn’t have the files anymore either. Just another thing Jacob had destroyed on his rampage.

Servo was careful not to jostle him too badly, he could tell he was injured. He kept up an even pace, following Weaponary wherever she was going to lead the pair. As X-Metal explained where he got the suit, his irises widened in surprise.
"If that's the case, I'm glad you stole it. No telling what people like that would do with such advanced tech."

The thought actually scared him. The guy that attacked them was mostly cybernetic, a basic scan told him that much.
"That guy's well on his way to being like me. I only picked up about 40% biological matter when I scanned him. The rest is just metal. Didn't seem to slow her down at all, though." he said, looking over at the woman leading them. He knew he'd seen her somewhere before, but he couldn't quite place it. Then again, with everything that had happened to him recently, he'd pushed all unnecessary thoughts from his mind.

After a moment he spoke up again. "So, uh... Where are you taking us? You never mentioned that."

Weaponary chuckled. It seemed that people’s history knowledge wasn’t as up to date as it could be. She had only one simple reply to this. “How much do you know about superheroes amd world war two?”
