Hello and welcome to our interest check for The New Gods! As we've said before, this has a huge inspiration from the new Marvel movie, Eternals, and this roleplay will be a character driven OC-focused continuation of the movie's ending. We will be exploring the different Eternals found in other universes being brought to Earth, and their troubles as they deal with the judgment from the Prime Celestial, Arishem. We will be running this on Discord, so before showing interest and joining, be sure to read our rules below! Here is the link to the server: Click to join!
1.Please be respectful of all other writers and follow RPN rules accordingly. It shouldn't happen regardless, but bigotry has no place here. We are encouraging a diverse cast of characters and writers!
2.Literacy is expected for this roleplay. While inspiration can fluctuate greatly, we're looking for engaging writing, preferably 5+ paragraph replies, and proper grammar.
3.Activity is crucial to keeping a roleplay alive; please be able to post at least once or twice a week once the roleplay has started. Since this will be Discord-focused, we'd love folks who are interested in participating in the server, engaging with us and discussing content!
4.New or old alike, while our characters may be the inspirations for the pantheons of gods in human culture, they most certainly will have flaws. Try to avoid making perfect characters.

THE NEW ETERNALS.
The New Eternals that Makkari and the others have found on their expedition through space will be the main focus of this roleplay. They will come from different planets, have different group dynamics, and have different powers than the original Eternals. We will focus on how these new Eternals react to learning the truth about their origin, and follow their journey as they become the protectors of Earth in the absence of Sersi and the others.
The significant Eternals of Earth: Ajak, Sersi, Ikaris, Gilgamesh, Kingu, Sprite, Phastos, Thena, Makkari, and Druig. Feel free to write any of these characters, but do note that these characters won't be as prominent for most of the beginning of the story, however they will be mentioned often and will be quite influential once they return to Earth.EARTH'S ETERNALS.
THE AVENGERS.
Now lead by Sam Wilson as he has taken up the mantle of Captain America and leader of the Avengers, they will be side characters in our story. You are welcome to apply as any Avenger who is not dead or out of action in the current timeline. They will not be the main focus, but will be used to move the plot along quite often, and are significant as they are Earth's first line of defense.
From Wakandans, aliens, Asgardians, to humans, we welcome any original characters you would like to add to our story. Variants are allowed as well, though we'd appreciate if you talked to us about your ideas first.OTHER OPTIONS
LORE.
The year is 2024, set one year after the events of Avengers: Endgame. As the mantle of Captain America has been taken up by Sam Wilson, the citizens of the United States seem to be sleeping a little easier at night under his protection. The world will never be the same after the Blip, but as time has passed, the Westview Incident with one Wanda Maximoff has not gone unnoticed either. Now, the remaining Avengers are keeping their eyes on the world.
Coming into the light after centuries of keeping their existence a secret, Earth has been introduced to the Eternals, who have successfully stopped the Emergence and kept billions of lives safe for now. A new age of Heroes is beginning to emerge. What the future has in store, nobody truly knows. Makkari, Druig, and Thena have left Earth to find the rest of the Eternals of other worlds with the help of Eros.
Over a month has passed since the Emergence, and Makkari and the others have found their first group of Eternals. In the absence of Sersi and the others, the new group of Eternals have been sent to Earth to protect it, and prepare for the judgement and wrath of Arishem now that they know the truth of their origin.
Our timeline follows the current timeline for MCU's Phase Four:
WandaVision The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Loki Black Widow Shang-Chi Eternals.
After Endgame, the events of WandaVision happened three months after. We are now six months after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and in this canon, Sam Wilson is the new Captain America. It has been two months since the successful stopping of the Emergence, and the Eternals of Earth have found others in their adventure on the Domo into space.
In our current timeline, Tony Stark, Natasha Romanoff, Ajak, and Gilgamesh are all deceased. Ikaris's status is currently unknown. Wanda Maximoff and Sprite are currently out of commission.
TIMELINE.
- IN THE BEGINNING...
Oh how wrong we were to think immortality meant never dying.
In the beginning, in the cosmic creation of universes and galaxies, there were the Eternals.
There was no greater honor than being a soldier for the great Celestials that forged life as we know it, and each Eternal is born into a group of ten and sent to a planet to help protect it from the gruesome chaos creatures known as Deviants. Their protection of their planets, and fulfillment of their mission as soldiers, was held strong and true by unshakable loyalty. There was no birth or upbringing, only divine creation and the knowledge of a mission to be completed. Told that they were from the planet Olympia, many Eternals did not question their purpose.
It wasn't until Earth's protectors learned the truth of their existence. There was no Olympia, there was no true reason to continue protecting Earth from the scarce amount of Deviants left - their purpose was to help the advancement of humans, therefore boosting the population, and allowing the emergence of a new Celestial. In doing so, the planet Earth would be destroyed, and the lives that they knew would be gone and memories wiped to start over new on a different planet.
The truth set them free. Doing the unthinkable, the Eternals defied the great Celestial Arishem's orders and saved the planet by killing the newborn Celestial seed trying to break free from Earth's core. Pulling off such a feat, Arishem has left Earth's fate in a precarious balance. Makkari, Druig, and Thena have left to find the rest of the Eternal's with the help of Eros, while Sersi, Kingu, and Phaestos have been taken by Arishem for judgement.
Now, over a month has passed since the Emergence. Makkari and the others have found their first group of Eternals far, far into the dark depths of space. In the absence of Sersi and the others, the new group of Eternals have been sent to Earth to protect it and plan their next move, and prepare for the judgement and wrath of Arishem now that they know the truth of their origin.
While this is a Marvel roleplay, it will be OC friendly and focused! The plot will mostly focus on the New Eternals from other planets that Makkari and the others have recruited to help fight against Arishem. Canon character applications are still happily accepted, as we do need a few folks to help us get the plot moving, but we're hoping to see a ton of creativity and diversity!
