Error message on preview?

I'm trying to create a character thread in an RP I'm in, and because I use lots of tabs and formatting, I want to preview to see what it looks like. Today, when I try to preview, I get the following error message:

<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_11/57a8c0f15e01c_Capture-previewerror.JPG.1f0fa717af7bdc870292e83ee153ce9a.JPG" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="35697" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_11/57a8c0f15e01c_Capture-previewerror.JPG.1f0fa717af7bdc870292e83ee153ce9a.JPG" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

I'm used to seeing this when hovering over my alerts panel (it's usually easier to just View All when I have multiple alerts), but I've never seen this when trying to preview. I've tried waiting a few minutes between preview attempts, but I still see the error message.

FYI, creating a new tab and starting a new thread there (copy/pasting from the other tab) fixes the problem, but I still don't know why it happens in the first place.

You shouldn't even be getting that message for your notifications. Perhaps there is something on your browser that is preventing those functions from working?

They work fine, usually. The numbers are always right, it's just when I hover over it to get the list that occasionally the error pops up. Sometime back it was posited that browsers can load the alerts faster than the server thinks it should (or something along those lines) and that's why I get the message. It made sense at the time. :smiled:

Just out of curiousity, is this the only time the error has occurred for you with a thread, or have there been other experiences with different threads?

This is the only time I can remember seeing it for a thread. I haven't previewed in a while, but it's always worked before.

Since I found a fix, I'm not really worried about it for myself, but I thought the staff should know in case it's a symptom of some underlying problem.

If it does happen again, it could be a similar issue to the one you're having with the notifications. Either situation, you shouldn't be having any issues with those functions. ^^

Is it still happening?

Nope! Neither the problem in the original post nor the error on alert hover have happened since the server transfer. (Although my alert hover is taking rather a long time to load right now - peak usage maybe?)

Ah okay.

Not sure yet about the alert hover.
