Well, I mean. Do you like groups or 1x1s? What genres do you like? What fandoms do you like, if any? What pairings do you like? Do you have any plots you want to do? How much do you write per post, what age range are you comfortable writing with? Things like that are good in an interest check.

groups usually (1v1s usually end up spicy)
fantasy, romance, horror, etc etc
too many to count
elaborate
i have a few in mind
i don't make very long replies, because i feel it's unnecessary and, tbf, tedious
15-21 preferably

So what you need to do to start a group is come up with a pitch for a specific idea you want to write.

You can get some inspiration by checking out existing group interest checks —

They will give you an idea of the information you need to have to get people excited about your group.

God, I forgor about this thread ;-;

So, group RPs.
I myself am quite inexperienced, but I still have some tips that could prove useful.
  • Do character sheets. Seriously, there was one guy in an RP of mine whose character could “fire a trillion lasers”. And the villains of his were somehow even more powerful, but that’s another story. Character sheets will allow you to control who gets in and who doesn’t, and prevent underpowered/overpowered characters.
    • Remember to set rules for what is and what is not allowed in a character, to save you the trouble of correcting every single faulty sheet. And make sure to really think about these rules beforehand.
  • Try to clarify what the RP’s tone is meant to be. And do this a lot. One time, in another RP of mine, someone burned a whole forest in what was meant to be a lighthearted RP. Of course, truth be told, hearing the screams of all living beings (not of joy as they visit your amusement park) is exquisite, but still.
  • Do your research. If your RP is based on history (heck, with any kind of RP, really), you should do research about the setting. You don’t want to have gunpowder in an RP about the Mayas.
    • Or alternatively, save yourself the trouble by creating a world of your own, or doing a big timeskip to the future.
      • Or both.
  • Pull all-nighters on worldbuilding. Especially on building the lore for that random salesman across the street.
    • This is a joke. But hey, lore is fun.
  • Read books / watch movies and TV shows of the same genres. To get a feel of what you want to achieve, and take inspiration.
    • Of course, though, don’t plagiarize, or I steal your Twinkies.
  • Big bleeding eyeballs. Big bleeding eyeballs.
    • I’m so funny and witty, I think I should marry myself.
      • Just kidding. I hate myself.
  • Store lore (if there’s any) somewhere. Sure, the human brain can store more information than any computer, but take this with a grain of salt. Sure, there’s the people who recite God-knows-how-many digits of pi, but still. Speaking of pie, I really like apple pie, what’s your favorite kind of pie? But hey, just because I like apple pie doesn’t mean I like apples. Eating them directly is so annoying; the juice spills all over you. Same with oranges. This is why avocados are better. Oh, but I hated avocados when I was little; I once ate one that happened to be spoiled, and after tasting it, came to the assumption that all avocados were bad. But hey, I was, what, five? Wait, what were we talking about?
    • Oh, I remember now. Pies. Wait, still not right…
  • Remember that there are people behind the screen.
    • Your characters can be as rude as they like, but thread with caution about them being discriminatory, especially if it’s about something like body weight, sexual orientation, or ethnicity. Even though their views (hopefully) don’t match yours, they might trigger some people. Remind players about this.
    • Themes of gore, sexual assault, etc., very strong. Treat them as serious, and follow the same advice as above.
    • You should place content warnings and age ratings if strong themes are necessary for the story to develop.
Uh, yeah.

A Tip~

Look at what type of roleplays are most popular for the week. Peeps often change what they want daily, so see which fashion taste is in right now. Similarly like a post above, do indeed get inspo from other rp's but refrain from copying anybody storyline.
