Well either the block misses, touches, Nate dodges, or someone blocks it. I'm not sure how likely it is to just miss ? Also, what would be everyone's standard for casting ? someone would probably not be able to run around while incanting lol but is it a thing to "resume" an incant ?

normally no. you have to start over. But maybe you can cast it faster this time?

I'll have to think this over. Either it disrupts the spell for good or Nate manages to throw the spell as it is in his panic, for a weaker effect obviously.

Actually, it depends on the system. The ones I'm familiar with make you roll a concentration save if you take damage, but you can still move around. I say if you want him to be able to finish the spell (and no one else blocks the rock for you) just have him jump aside, struggle but succeed on concentration with a 'that was close' moment.

Another badass option for successful spellcasting is to power-rush-finish the spell (maybe it takes more mana for him to speed it up?) and take the rock to the chest. I'm sure someone with magic will keep you alive

Yes! Only since this isn't a cartoon: mage shuts up, dives to the side as he narrowly misses the rock and eats dirt. "motherf**" then resumes casting his spell.
