"Growf!"
Plot
Two soldiers crash land on an uncharted, unmapped hostile planet, their starnations bitter enemies. (See descriptions below.) One is a female Kytarri; the other male Promethean. The Kytarri arrives on the scene with a critically damaged starfighter bomber. The Promethean arrives in a varitech Mecha (badly outclassed by the starfighter in mobility, but better armored).
Neither has a working ship. Neither has any way of knowing if distress calls made it out. The planet was located in a very unfriendly sector of space, so it is very possible no help is coming. Their supplies are limited. Rations, medical supplies, etc. And each must assume their enemy also made it to the ground.
NOTE: For the record, the Kytarri ship attacked the Promethean. The Promethean mecha was sporting some sort of stealth technology. (Can anyone say "spy?") But the Kytarri have some very advanced sensors. You had been investigating some anomalous readings. Unsure of his position you 'depth charged' with star torps and got lucky, disrupting his cloak.
Soon it will become obvious that to survive they will have to declare a truce.
The Planet
Planetary Type 9.3: Terran Planet with High Axial Tilt and Orbital Eccentricity. Anyone descended from colonists insane enough to choose to settle on such a planet probably has an ‘unusual’ psychological and cultural profile. The savage Seasonality produces such harsh conditions that to survive one will need to be well trained in desert survival, arctic cold, and related factors. Survival skills will be superbly tuned to dealing with a variety of climatic conditions, withemergency techniques (taking shelter, finding water, reading the violently changing weather, etc.,) honed to a fine edge; Unlike other Inner Ecosphere dwellers, survivors must be as adapted to frigid conditions as he is to heat, and must literally withstand the entire range of survivable
temperature in which his racial type may live without undue hardship.
(*If not so adapted, then special gear will be a must. A vac suit with a rebreather would work.)
Atmosphere: Standard Pressure, but with volcanic contaminants. Dust, toxic fumes, occassional acid rain.
Gravity: 1.05 (slightly high)
Flora and Fauna: Adapted to survive in the harsh conditions of this world. The local denizens will see the humans as protein.
Gear
We should each have a survival kit, sidearm, 30+ man days of food, water storage, etc. Just how good our kits are will probably be determined by social status or personal skills.
RP Background
In the distant future mankind has spread to the stars. In the wake of the Exodus a myriad of factions arose. Wars happened. Technologies rose and fell. Communal societies, empires, anarchies - they rose and fell. Legends were born and died. Whole religions were created and crushed. Earth has long been left behind and is considered by most to be myth.
(Note: In all that time we have never met aliens - unless we wanted to count ourselves.)
It is now the year 8054, not that anyone uses old calendars. But it is perhaps the most compelling evidence that Earth once existed. The Genesis story that now exists is nothing like the original biblical one. Rather it tells of how Man was given the gift of Knowledge and laid waste to his own garden. From there the story diverges depending on beliefs. Some say Gaia cast Man across the stars. Some say that the knowledge of Man grew so godlike that the Elder Gods grew angry and sent their wrath for daring to set foot on the Heavens.
These great cultures - the Prometheans and the Kytarri - have been at war for decades. The Prometheans are clan militaristic opportunists. The Kytarri are a feudal caste society. The closest comparisons would be America/Europe and Japan/China. Or perhaps West and East. But either description is an oversimplification.

The Kytarri culture is similar to the Minbari from the TV show Babylon 5. They have been divided into castes - warrior, religious, worker. They are deeply spiritual, highly ritualistic and disciplined people. They seek conformity and enlightenment above all. Honor is everything and they generally do not lie, except to save another or to help another save face. From birth to adulthood, they are taught to be selfless and learn the importance of service to all aspects of life. Working for generations, they create a legacy for themselves and are ready to sacrifice their lives, their blood, or their honor for others
The Kytarri have never encountered True Prometheans. The war began when Promethean pirates raided almost defenseless Kytarri colonies. True Prometheans would have considered such violence beneath them. But they are far from selfless. Indeed, they are the extreme opposite of selfless. But they make a firm distinction between ambition and greed. A True Promethean wants nothing they haven’t earned.
The majority of the Prometheans appear to be a bit like the Scottish highlander clans. It is hard as hell to get them all to work together at once.
The Kytarri speak a language descended from Japanese, Chinese and influenced by several other asian languages. I would suggest we both be in our physiological early 20’s. The lifespan of many True Prometheans and a small percentage of Kytarri is similar to Vulcans of Star Trek. 28 would be comparable to 18 physiologically. 48 would be about 28. It should be noted that Kytarri medical technology is supposedly superior to Prometheans. For example, they have an auric intensifier that uses a body’s own aura to increase its ability to heal. A smaller version of this is included in a medikit that will help knit bones and such.
