Endgame is set on the planet Alaxi, which is similar to Earth in that it is inhabited only by humans and animals. It's a large planet, with 211 countries in total, and the majority of these countries are well developed, home to cutting-edge technology. With an estimated population of 40 billion, Alaxi is constantly expanding. There are seven countries that are considered the major power capitals of the world:
Teema - Capital City: Lestain. A mostly metropolitan country filled with sprawling cities and bustling towns. Arguably the world's capital. Home to many of the top universities and companies in the world. South of Yalasantia. The city itself, Lestain, is a sprawling metropolis that towers high into the clouds. It has three main sectors in a ring-like structure. The business sector, located in the very centre of the city, is home to towering skyscrapers that belong to the biggest companies in the world. The residential sector, the largest of the three, takes up about 60% of the city, and houses about 100 million in towering high-rises and maze-like suburbs. It goes around the outside of the city in a huge ring. The third and final sector is known as the bridge sector as it comes between the other two, and it is mostly filled with shopping centres, schools, universities, research institutions, gyms and the like. The rest of Teema is populated with smaller towns that are connected by a network of trains and rivers, although the land towards the north close to the border is much less densely populated and consists mostly of forests.
Sata - Capital City: Jakaba. A diverse country with a large desert to the North and a lot of small, self-contained towns. The desert contains a number of old, unexplored tombs and strange ritual grounds from some ancient people before the age of technology. Many of these are supposedly cursed, and many people have gained powers as a result of these places, including Statue, the current leader of Endgame. Sata is a fascinating place for scholars to study and adventurers to explore, and it prides itself on its rich history and multiculturalism.
New Marland - Capital City: Queen's Bay. An island nation filled with tropical jungles and beaches. Rumored to have a secret army with bases hidden through the jungles. A popular holiday destination, New Marland is soaked in sun. Along the eastern and northern shorelines are many privately owned villas and luxury hotels, while the southwest is much more appealing to the less wealthy folk who come to escape for a couple of weeks. Most of the southern shoreline is covered in jungle that stretches across much of the country, and a lot of the jungle is fenced off, off-limits to the general public. It has led to a lot of speculation as to what could be inside, but the general consensus is that the scale and power of the New Marland Militia is far greater than it appears.
Yalasantia - Capital City: Brin. A cold country with snowy woodlands. Home to the largest city in the world, Brin, a sprawling city with twelve districts, each with their own separate ruling council. Also home to the Endgame headquarters buried deep within the Undyne Forest. North of Teema. Brin is a divided city, with such a large number of districts that they could not realistically be uniform. Four of them stand out as being notable. There's the poorest district, Carrucan, where people live in run-down complexes and the police seem to ignore the growing death rate among the working class. There's Jania, which, while also a poor district, stands out because of the increasingly violent gang wars taking place between The Praxis and The Tralls and the high numbers of policemen who've died as a result. It's a dangerous place, and the population continues to shrink as people desperately scramble to escape the violence. Another notable district is Undyne, at the edge of which rests the dense Undyne Forest. Undyne is a cultural capital, populated by world-famous museums, galleries, restaurants and concert halls. Despite this, it's population is a diverse mix of all classes, and it's one of the most unified districts in the city. The fourth district that stands out is Mall, a place renowned for its isolated, gated communities that govern themselves and the council of Mall have little need to intervene.
Praxis - Capital City: Liberalia. The resource center of the world. Responsible for the production of much of the world's food and materials. Holds a workforce of at least five hundred million. Most of the workforce are treated extremely positively and work under brilliant conditions, but there are rumours about certain parts of the country that provide less...satisfactory conditions for its people.
Caniron - Capital City: Balan. A country divided by wealth on the brink of a civil war. Ruled by the largest military force in the world. There are many major cities here that are essentially just slums and favelas, within which revolution brews. The Capital, Balan, houses the richest of the rich, as well as the majority of the Caniron Military. Caniron is essentially run by a dictator: Portia Estan, a cold and calculated military woman who rules with an iron fist. People talk of those who are stolen away in the night and sent to prison camps for daring to challenge the government.
Mildania - Capital City: Edmonton. An island nation isolated from the rest of the world. Nobody can enter and nobody can leave. The rest of the world isn't sure what they are hiding, but they know that Mildania has a wealth of resources and a powerful army at their disposal.
Endgame begins in Lestain, where our characters have been assembled into a small division of Endgame known as Taskforce Ruby. They've been summoned by Statue, Endgame's leader, to investigate the disappearance of The Blue Ivy Cafe, a small building in the bridge sector that has disappeared entirely, leaving only a hole in the ground. Even stranger, nobody seems to have witnessed the disappearance despite the constant business of the street. It's been cordoned off, and as Endgame arrive, they can't shake the feeling that something is very wrong.
In the business sector lies the Teema government headquarters, known as Ramia Crux. Daily protests have filled the streets surrounding it because, after a brief announcement urging the people to remain calm, the government's leaders have shut themselves away inside and have done little to act on the crisis. Some even call for the removal of the President, Jalonda Mukaba. Two weeks have passed since the disappearance, and with little being done by the official forces, Statue has decided to form Taskforce Ruby and lead an investigation.
