Alias: Aether
(Named for his stealth ability, not really because of his surname) Gender: male
Age: 16
Arcana: Page of Swords
Arana Ability:
Eli is able to hide himself with the power of invisibility. Be it in daylight or the middle of the night, as long as he is able to see, he can cause himself to be unable to be seen. In a way this can be considered as an illusion of sorts. However, this is only limited to sight. Making any noise at this point would mean others would be able to see him immediately. He is told that his predecessor for this arcana was able to maintain the invisibility even when he is making noise, but Eli isn't able to do that yet.
Personality:
Eli is known as the person who's rather attentive. There's a pile of dishes by the sink? Someone's left their textbook accidentally in the classroom? Though he has no obligation to help, Eli would go out of his way if he can. Perhaps it's his knowledge that "bad things tend to happen if you are a bad person".
He's known as a polite and reserved boy by adults and teachers. Though, this is more because Eli knows when to speak more respectfully, and knowing when to take a step back and think. He's similar to any teenage boy that likes to have fun, and definitely has a sense of humour like his classmates. In addition he isn't one sick of doing one of his pen-twirling tricks or read to younger children.
Despite this, he's not satisfied, and below the exterior he does feel rather lonely at times. Though he has people to laugh with and banter about school, Eli is rather upset every time he has to leave behind past relationships. While he does try to keep in touch, he finds that people all seem to forget about one another over time, even himself.
Bio:
The caretaker of the orphanage, a lady in her middle years had poked her head into Eli's room that afternoon. He was rather surprised to hear that there was someone interested in adopting him. At this age? When he was 16? Of all other younger children…
He entered into the common room, past a few younger kids who were trying to peer at the person who was sitting at the chair by the table. The man looked rather young for his age, about late twenties, as Eli estimated. He lifted his head when Eli followed the caretaker.
"This is the only chid we have that's around the age you're looking for. "
"Yes. Thank you. I'd like to speak to you for a few minutes, if that’s alright?" He smiled lightly before giving
Eli nodded, "Sure. I'm Eli. Nice to meet you, sir."
"Eli, I see. You can call me Noir." he said as the boy sat across him. Eli didn't want to stare too much, but he couldn't help but feel that even though he had never met Noir before, the man seemed to know his name. "So then Eli, mind telling me about yourself?"
What a vague question. Eli scratched his head a little before answering. He was in his second last year of school, he attended the local school. Wanting to perhaps give a good impression, he mentioned about how he was in the kendo club and had been able to keep up despite how strict the training was. He had also been living here since he was twelve.
"Oh, but you've been an orphan since much earlier, no?"
The way it was worded was rather open that he didn't catch on how he knew. Eli answered," Yeah, since I was five. But I'm used it." Used to it. Doesn't mean he likes it, of course.
"Rather unfortunate, I would say. When your parents had been in the collapsed tower." Eli raised his head suddenly at the accuracy. "And since then this would have been about the third or fourth orphanage that you've been to, since it seems that you have no other relatives. Even though just by talking to you, you don't seem to be the troublesome kind. Why have you been moving between orphanages? Perhaps something troubling in the previous ones?"
Eli shook his head vigorously. His mind was still trying to process how the other had knew about his parents working in the building with construction issues. Was he related to the accused architect designer? "How do you know of that…? About my parents… were you told about that?"
Noir merely nodded, giving the expectant look to continue answering. The boy reluctantly ignored his urge to ask back where did he hear it from. "There wasn't any problems with the old orphanages. They were all rather nice and caring… it's just that they suggested that I try somewhere else, so that…"
"So that there might be someone willing to take you in?" Noir finished the sentence for him. It was probably the case for most kids, that they would want to be find a permanent family. The man's black eyes slid towards the corner of the door for a moment. There was only a few kids peeking, and he leaned forward until he was close enough to Eli to whisper.
A minute or so would have ticked by before suddenly Eli's shoulders tensed. Noir's hand was placed on the shoulder, hidden from the kids' view, as he finished what he had to say. He leaned back to inspect the boy, whose eyes had disbelief and a sliver of fear.
"I only told you briefly about who I am and my "family", since I am interested to adopt you." he said, looking at Eli in the eye."Have a think about it, would you? Just let me know when you've made up your mind, by… let's say the end of the week?" After standing up, he exchanged a few words with the caretaker that had now returned. Eli leaned back on his chair, his mind slightly dizzy from the mind-blowing information.
Tarot? Wanting to adopt him?
Fighting Style:
Eli learned how to handle swords, in particular the tantou. When he was younger, he quite liked magic/circus tricks, especially being able to throw daggers. Due to his friends' influence and for the sake of self-defense, he had trained himself in a kendo club and can handle with the tantou and katana.
Name: Angelo Torban Alias: Gunner Gender: Male Age: 16 Arcana: Eight of Wands Arcana ability: ...
Personality:
The best way to describe Angelo? A character. He's a misfit teen with a little too much energy and a quick wit to go along with it. When you first meet this boy he comes off as a rather casual individual who would much rather be spending his time inventing that talking to you, that doesn't mean to say he's completely unsociable, oh no, he is more than capable of holding a conversation. Although perfectly able, it does seem like Angelo lacks the knowledge of social rules and constructs that most children are brought up with, this leads to him being a little forwards and what other people may consider rude, he also doesn't see the point in staying around or listening to someone just to be polite.
Despite being a little socially inept, Angelo is perfectly capable of working with a team. He's a little wild and often unpredictable, which makes it hard for other people to work with him, but he's good at taking orders when he really feels like it. Besides, he'd much rather work in a team with people on something than actually have to get to know them, he doesn't really seem the point in creating deep connections, it's a waste of time and a waste of energy for him, which is why he has very few friends; if any at all.
Although it can often seem like Angelo is ignoring someone, he often is not. He's a clever individual who finds creating and experimenting unbelievably interesting. In his free time that's about all he does, invent and create new things. This fascination with creating leads him to sometimes study individuals he is close to a lot, it's not always a conscious thing, but he learns from those around him, incorporating what he believes is useful about them into himself or his style so that he's constantly improving.
Bio:
Born to a former soldier and daughter of a millionaire, Angelo was meant to have quite a fortunate life. His mother and father had known each other since they were teenagers and were both very excited about having a child together and creating a life, they wanted nothing to do with his mother's family and so the two had eloped together so that they could live without judgement and criticism.
Angelo was born in a normal house in a normal town and neither of his parents could have been happier. The first few years of his life went swimmingly, like any other fortunate child, he was brought up in a loving household with loving parents who never seemed to argue. They were the perfect family for awhile, and whilst Angelo was too young to remember most of it, it was easily the happiest time of his parents' lives.
It was when the boy was five that things started to go a little downhill. The family had decided to upgrade that year, with his mother having a well paying job they were able to go a little more expensive, and so they moved into the city just six months after they'd have the idea. It was at the end of that year when his mother was meant to come home from work but never did that everything their family had built crumbled.
At the time Angelo was too young to really understand what had happened, but what he did understand is that his father's attitude to the world started to change from that day.
Every day seemed to become harder for that man after the disappearance of his wife, night after night Angelo would wake up after being put to bed and find that his father still hadn't gone to sleep. He'd tried calling her, but the police had already found her cell laying on the ground outside a pawn shop in town. Grief had overtaken him and whilst he tried his hardest not to show it to his son, it seemed to become too much.
At first it was just sorrow, but sorrow turned into anger, and anger turned into a longing for revenge. The man was desperate to find his wife and just wouldn't give up on her or believe that she was in any way shape or form dead. He kept hope because he wanted to see her again.
During that period of time he became a little short tempered with his son and often ignored him, only doing the bare minimum when looking after the boy so that he could spend the majority of his time connecting the dots on his wife's disappearance.
A year after she had disappeared her body turned up in tarp on the side of a road, Angelo was never told what happened, but he knew there was more to it than his father let on.
As Angelo got older he noticed that is father really didn't like looking or talking to him much, he didn't seem to want to interact with him and he was always 'much too busy' to do anything that most fathers would do with their sons. Even things like cooking seemed to become Angelo's responsibility once he was old enough to understand.
Although he didn't understand what they were being used for originally, he came home from school one day to find a small, metallic acorn shaped device laying on the kitchen table. Of course, as any inquisitive child would, he picked it up and tried to figure out what it was. However, when his father found out about he'd taken it he was yelled at, scolded, and told to go wait in his room until he was told to come out.
The way his father often treated him could be compared to the way a commanding officer might treat their troops, everything was very regimented, he was required to inform of everything he did and everywhere he'd be, and his access to anything outside their home was rather limited. Being a child, this didn't really sit well with Angelo and his curiosity took over. When his father slept or wasn't in he'd go down to the basement of their house and check out what the man was doing. He'd stopped keeping the his endeavours that secret from his child, obviously not too bothered about the boy knowing, or pretty sure that he just didn't understand. But Angelo was much more interested than his father could have realised.
He'd seen plans, bombs, guns, everything his father owned. He'd tried to take things apart and put them back together, of course not the overly dangerous things, just like he'd seen his father doing. But he often got wrapped up in what he was doing, which did lead to him getting caught once or twice.
Luckily, the first time he was just on the staircase, the second time he was locked out of that part of the house all together and told he was too young and stupid to understand how any of that worked.
Honestly, Angelo believed that things would continue on as they were forever, but he was young and he didn't know that people don't get away with illegal things forever. One day when the boy was sitting in his room the police broke into the house, arrested his father, and took him away. They never really told him what was happening, but as he got older he started to put the pieces of everything he'd seen together anyway.
After a court case, his father was put away for several murders, and Angelo was handed off to the nearest orphanage, at the age of ten. Of course, at such an age it's very unlikely that any family will wish to adopt you, especially with Angelo's strange and awkward personality and his morbid fascinations with weapons and explosives. He didn't really care though, nothing anyone did really bothered him much, he had other things to be concerned with.
It seemed he wasn't completely unwanted however, six years later, and he's finally been picked up by people who seem to understand where he's coming from.
