El is still discovering what it means to feel things deeply—friendship, love, and the gray area in between. Having grown up in isolation, she’s struggling to understand her emotions, especially when it comes to Max. El knows she feels different around Max than she does with Mike. She’s jealous when Max talks to other people, thrilled when Max smiles at her, and confused by the warmth she feels when they’re close.
Max, meanwhile, has her own struggles. She likes Lucas, but something about her time with El feels different—more real. She’s scared to confront her feelings, afraid it will hurt El or destroy their connection. On top of this, Mike and Lucas sense the shift in their dynamic, creating tension in the group.
As the supernatural danger grows, so does the emotional tension between El and Max. Can they face their feelings before everything else falls apart?
This somewhere before or after their shopping spree at the mall, maybe during and after most likely.
During the mall attack with Billy and the Mind Flayer, El could get super protective over Max during this even though as you know El has an injured leg
Or this can be during s4 except el never left Hawkins where which El gets super protective during Max’s visions and when Max rose into the air the first time when Nancy and Robin were trying to find a way to prevent it.
