Eclipse/Moonshadow and Mirror Charms

BLACKJACK!
Since he spends a lot of time in Creation, Moonshadow Abyssal Bob decides he wants to learn Seven Shadow Evasion instead of the abyssal mirror to avoid the wp cost due to the spectral keyword.

1. Would Bob be able to buy the Shadow Over Water/Seven Shadow Evasion upgrade (Glories Unconquered Sun pg. 23) if he has a solar version of one charm and the abyssal version of the other?

2.

a) If Bob, having SSE, decides to learn Refinement of Flowing Shadows (Latest errata pg. 74), would he have to pay a total of 4 extra motes (because he is activating the solar upgrade of a solar version of the charm), or just the normal +2 motes for activating SSE?

b) Could Bob instead decide to learn the abyssal version of RoFS and use it in conjunction with SSE? Would he have to pay the wp cost in that case (even though the spectral keyword is not explicitly associated with RoFS's mirror)?

3) If he knows RoFS, as well as the upgrade from Glories for its two prerequiste charms, could he effectively choose between any of the 3 charms in response to each individual attack in a series, without a combo?

Thanks!

The Mirror keyword is just there to show a likeliness between Solar and Abyssal charms, and to save word space. There is no mechanical effect between them.

So you can't use one charm as prerequest for a mirror, and if you have both the Solar and Abyssal version of a charm you can use whichever you find best in a given situation.

Actually, Mirror Charms do count for prerequisites.

Hmm, ok, my bad, forget everything I just said - with the exception thatif you have both charms you can still use the one you want in a given situation.

1. You can only expand Solar Charms with Solar upgrades, and likewise, Abyssal Charms with Abyssal upgrades

2a. Upgrades ADD effects to a SINGLE Charm. You are not activating two Charms in one turn. You are just activating one, and therefore, only paying for one.

2b. Like I said before, you can only upgrade Solar Charms with Solar upgrades.

3) No, a different Charm is a different Charm, despite similarities. You can, however, use a Charm with its upgrade and a Charm without its upgrade in the same turn, because that's the same Charm

The upgrades they are talking about allow the charms in question to be counted as the same charm for the purpose of activation on the same action (and they are all reflexive).

As for the mirrors, the upgrades are written so as to upgrade a specific charm, as named in the upgrade charm description. Mirrors only count as prerequisites for their counterparts, not as the other charm. There is a charm (with a Mirror) that allows Mirror charms to be activated interchangeably if the Exalt has one or the other of the charm's versions. I was just looking for it to give a page number, but can't find it right now, I'm sure it's out there though.
