In this roleplay, combat will work as follows:
One player will create a post, detailing their character's actions. The second player will then post a response, and this back-and-forth will continue until one player is unable to avoid the other player's attack, thus suffering a (most likely) incapacitating or fatal blow.
Magic Mechanics:
In this roleplay, magic can pertain to almost anything. It can be used on anything, in almost any form, as a way of manipulating energy. There are two requirements to use magic:
1. A character must get the energy from somewhere. It can be drawn from heat, from pure light, from sound, or even spirit energy; be creative about it! For instance, an evil spirit might just decide “Hey, lemme steal that random NPC’s soul so I can cast a spell.” Please don’t abuse this.
2. Energy takes one post to gather, and a spell may be used in the second post. Of course, depending on the strength of the spell, it may take longer. Particularly powerful spirits may be able to gather energy more quickly, but this will be flexible.
Types of Magic: (Usability indicated by H,S, or H/S)
~ Conjuring (H/S): Conjuring is the manipulation of energy to create (conjure) energy versions of beasts, weapons, or other objects.
~ Capturing (H): Capturing is a form of magic honed by humans to capture spirits into objects. It requires a vessel to capture them, and is typically only learned by veteran spirit hunters.
~Conversion (H/S): Conversion is most often known as elemental magic; users convert energy from sources into another form of energy, or into matter. Users can create or manipulate fire, air, earth, and water.
~ Kinetic (S): Spirits are capable of manipulating pure energy to lash out at their environment, typically using this magic to lacerate or wound opponents or prey.
~ Consumption (S): In order to continue their lives, spirits must hunt for souls. They use this magic to rip the soul from prey (human, animal, or spirit). Note that spirits give the most nourishment, then humans, then animals.
~ Seeking (H/S): Seeking employs delving into the spirit world to perceive the use of magic around the user. Whenever magic is used, bright light burns in the spirit world. Seeking allows users to find where the magic has been used.
