DUNGEON DELVER
Secrets of Caedia
A Voice in the Dark
"My Chosen... Ye who have answered my Call...
Descend. Descend to Me..."
Descend. Descend to Me..."
- 「 SCENE 」CLOSTERA city by the sea.
Sprawling and populous, Closter grew from humble beginnings into the glittering gem of the southern coast of Enigma that it is today.
It is a city unlike any other...
For beneath its surface, lurks Caedia, and the seething darkness it contains...
CAEDIABeneath Closter lies Caedia.
An ancient pit, sealed by powerful magics. It is said to contain the greatest of calamities...
Though, through a litany of spells and mechanisms, no creature of darkness whoso dwelleth below may menace the waking surface world.
Through Caedia passes scores of Dungeon Delvers. Monster hunters, cartographers, pilgrims. All manner of adventure seekers descend into those murky, mysterious depths, in search of gold, glory, and God.
DUNGEON DELVERSIt starts with a Calling. Yours? Your mother’s? Father’s? Great-great-great grand uncle’s? It all begins the same. From wherever you have come, from lands untold, you heard it. Whistling in the wind. You heard it spoken in the softest of whispers. The beckoning of another fate. It was yours alone to choose.
You—or those who came before you-–accepted. Awoke on a beach. The memory of your old life quickly fades, swept out to sea by soft, lapping waves. Who are you, now? Different, but the same. Utterly at peace with the path now set out before you. This edict, the sweetest song:
Enter Caedia. Descend to me. - 「 SETUP 」Delving DeeperDungeon Delver: Secrets of Caedia is a mission-based, sandbox-style roleplay. Players will create a Delver - a citizen of Closter and an individual who, for one reason or another, chooses to brave the weird and wild underworld of Caedia. Any adventurer worth their weight in monster hide knows it’s dangerous to go alone. That lesson was well taken by the premier Delvers of Closter, who have, for generations, banded together under one banner or the other, as professional Delving Guilds of various skill and renown.
Guilds, and Delving in general, forms the backbone of Closter’s economy. From furs, to food, to lumber and ore, to precious gems and dyes… Raw materials exist in abundance within the myriad worlds that exist beneath the surface, within Caedia… If one knows where to find them… Or possesses the wherewithal to claim them.
Beyond commerce, there are other reasons that one might choose to risk their lives in that place. Legends and myth speak of an entity, evil and primordial, that lurks in the lowest depths of Caedia. The Demon King. From whom all children of darkness issue.
Who founded Closter, and for what purpose? Legends say that Closter was built some ten thousand years ago. Before there was Closter, there was Caedia. No record exists of its creation, outside the myths and legends of the Faithful. Founded by The Aesyr, the first Dungeon Delver—and purported ancient ancestor to those of royal lineage who rule Closter to this day—who slew the monstrous guardian of Level One of Caedia.
GM NoteThis is a very abbreviated overview of the world of Dungeon Delver. I have a packed itinerary of items to address. They include some odds and ends of character creation, including playable races, classes, backstories, and character sheet templates.
If it helps, this setting was inspired by the likes of Dungeon Meshi, Critical Role, Baldur's Gate 3, Elden Ring, Dragon's Dogma, Lord of the Rings... Basically, this is me trying my hand at Fantasy. Hope it goes well!
For now, interested parties should express their interest (and ask their questions) below. I am searching for a group of individuals who are interested in co-creating this world with me and their fellow players.
Once players have expressed interest, I will share a CS thread which will make more clear the kind of information that I am looking for, and should help clarify any outstanding questions around character or setting.
Thanks in advance for your interest.
