To those who know him well Sasha's defining personality trait is anger. Around the paddock he's notorious for the occasional explosion. Despite that, he's a mostly likeable guy who gets along well with his team and loves his dog. You can be pretty sure you'll get into a bar fight at least once if you hang out with him long enough, but he's also the type to invite himself over if he hears you need help moving furniture. He might disappear before you can thank him though.

He's also a show-off, and loves playing to a crowd before and after a race. The press has built him up as something of a playboy as he's often seen out with an entourage of women. He's just friends with a lot of lesbians though.

Second oldest of four, Sasha was born into a racing family. His father and grandfather both competed in Formula One, first based out of France (the Romanovs fled the Soviet Union in the fifties), then later out of Moscow. Sasha's Russo-Finnish mother, Maikku Zaitseva, was a competitor in her own right, though in WRC rather than of formula cars. (Sasha's father Pavel eventually left Formula One to join her in WRC.) Though never pressured into getting into racing, it was hard for Sasha and his two brothers and baby sister not to get the bug, and they were all competing in karting before they were ten. They grew up traveling across Europe from track to rally course to track, and Sasha remembers hotels and garages more than the house in Moscow when he thinks of his childhood.

Initially Sasha was more interested in following his mother into rally (winters learning how to do donuts on frozen lakes probably had a lot to do with it). However, his older brother Feliks was killed in an accident during a rally competition when Sasha was fifteen and Feliks twenty. Sasha took it badly and became increasingly volatile, and started getting into fights. That year his grandfather, now working as a team principal for Renault, having long retired as a driver, took Sasha with him for the season. The speed, skill, and prestige of Formula One started to seem more appealing now that he was older, and his grandfather was more than happy to focus his anger and attention on reaching F1.

By seventeen, Sasha had joined the F2 series with Russian Time. By nineteen, he had gone from the one to watch to the one to beat in the F2 series, and signed onto the Red Bull Junior Team. At twenty-two, he moved up to Formula One with Red Bull's main team.

He's been nipping at the King's heels ever since.

When not touring during the season Sasha mostly divides his time between his own home near Milton Keyes and his parents' home in Moscow. With his volatile, unapologetic personality and penchant for showboating, Sasha's a divisive figure among fans. Even those who don't care for him agree he's never boring however. He's as aggressive on the track as he is off, and known for tight, technically precise driving, favoring tracks with lots of cornering to straight shots, a hold-over from his rally days. He's also known for doing very well on wet tracks. His hobbies include MMA, hockey, gardening, and reading weird Russian speculative fiction.

Neither of his younger siblings are looking to follow him into racing. Misha is a senior at university and lives at home in Moscow with their parents, though he has plans to move out and in with his girlfriend after they both graduate and he's started his career in journalism. With Misha moving into adulthood on a comfortable, domestic track, Sasha has to recently begun having to field questions on when he's going to Find a Nice Girl and Settle Down from both extended family as well as their parents, and frankly he'd rather do a press conference about his anger issues. He's still trying to figure out exactly when his lack of interest in romance went from a positive thing to a negative one. He and Misha get on well, but are not particularly close.

Lilya, the baby of the family, is only thirteen, and Sasha spoils her rotten. With a thirteen year age gap between them he's nearly a third parent as much as a big brother when home, a responsibility he takes very seriously. For her part, Lilya enjoys his company, as well as all the perks associated with having a famous brother easily susceptible to being bullied into doing what she wants.

In his childhood Sasha was very close to both his older brother and his mother. After Feliks' death he and his mother drifted apart, largely due to Sasha's own bad decisions and later self-isolation when out of the country with his grandfather. He's grown enough to regret ruining the relationship, but unsure how to salvage it.

Sasha is very active on social media. His Twitter is partially tidy official statements, and partially shit posts, both in Russian and English. He's often criticized for retweeting smaller accounts that attempt to dig at him and dogpiling them with his much larger base. He's also been known to retweet the videos of his driver cam footage set to Russian hard house that float around, to everyone's delight and terror.

His Instagram is mostly pictures of his dog, a Karelo-Finnish Laika named Jellybean, with a few videos of track things thrown in when he remembers it's technically a professional account. Anyone who has spent time on the sillier sides of F1 internet fandom has seen at least one photoset of Sasha carrying his 35 pound dog around one handed, often with a cigarette in his mouth.

Sasha also has a Youtube account dedicated as an on-season track vlog, as well as to his off-season adventures in modifying his 2019 Civic Type-R FK8 and his 2005 Subaru WRX STI. Every update on either car generally results in most of his followers who know things about cars being enraged. It's not that he's doing anything wrong to them--he's just turning it into obnoxious, slightly tacky boyracers. Other vehicles that he owns that occasionally feature include his 2021 Aston Martin Valkyrie, 2020 Cadillac CT5-V, 1988 Lada Niva, and a 2018 Triumph Street Triple.

Most recently Sasha has gotten onto Twitch. While the main draw is obviously watching him play racing games he does play a lot of other things, most notably the Witcher 3 entirely in Russian in the most meandering fashion, every GTA game ever made, and endless spontaneous reruns of Journey, generally at ungodly hours of the night.

Once a respected Formula One driver in his own right, Pavel has mentored Sasha since his teen years. He has retired both as a driver and as a team principal and instead now functions as Sasha's manager. Disappointed with Sasha's father's short and unimpressive Formula One career before he joined his wife as her co-driver in the WRC, he has high hopes for his grandson's career--and higher standards. Though they love each other deeply the relationship has begun coming under strain as Pavel has begun pushing Sasha for more from his career.

One of Sasha's oldest friends, Vika and Sasha met karting at nine years old. When he began to self-destruct following Feliks' death she refused to let him ruin their friendship, and maintained steady contact during his first tour of the F1 season despite his best efforts. After quite a bit of apologies she joined him shortly after he made the move from Russian Time to the Red Bull Junior Team as his performance coach. Part physical trainer, part confidant, and still best friends, they travel almost everywhere together during the season. Despite persistent rumors, they are not nor have ever been romantically involved, and frankly they both find the idea a little gross. Vika lives in the UK as well with her girlfriend, and is currently the only person Sasha has told about his asexuality.

Felix is a shortie. He stands at 5'5 or 166cm. He doesn't particularly like his short height because he would often be considered younger than he was and even teased because of it. His height did give him an advantage in racing though. Once he reached puberty, he knew he wanted to stay in shape in order to compete. Some people considered this unhealthy for a teen boy to be going to the gym multiple times a week but he just saw it as a necessary part of reaching his dream. He is a healthy weight at 127lbs or 58kgs. Felix likes fashion and being stylish. His hair was originally black but he has dyed it multiple different colors over the years. His eyes are dark brown and he has double eyelids. He has a a lot of distinct features. For instance his jawline is very sharp and his nose is prominent. He dislikes his ears as they're kinda crooked. He takes care of his eyebrows, hair and skincare as wearing hats and helmets all the time don't do the best for your looks. He does have a bit of vanity but he just cares about how he looks and that isn't much of a sin. Felix was born to a German-Chinese father who happened to be a regular office worker and a Macanese-Cantonese mother who happened to be a former Olympic Swimmer and Coach. He was born in Munich but spent lots of his early childhood in Shanghai and Hong Kong with extended family. His first memories of motorsport were watching the Formula Three Macau Grand Prix from his old home in China and wondering if he could one day drive around the streets of his mother's birthplace. At the age of 7 they ended up moving back to Germany to a small town outside of Munich for his mother's work. Growing up in a small town with a karting track led Felix to eventually convince his father to let him try racing for his birthday. His obsession with racing grew even more after stepping into a kart. He had a natural talent and somehow knew how to hit the apexes correctly when no one taught him. He was a great learner. They didn't have a big income to invest into a racing career however. His parents would have preferred him to become a swimmer like his mother not a racer especially considering how dangerous motorsports is.

For about a year he kept karting as his weekend hobby, improving and talking with the track owners to learn more about racing, preaching how he wanted to be the best Chinese driver ever. Eventually these track owners, former racers and kart builders convinced his family to push him into the competitive scene. They all helped by building up a small fund for him but his father had to do most of the work. He worked really really hard and got multiple jobs to make sure he could make his son's dreams come true. If he had this talent his mother would hate to see his chance at success ripped away from him like how swimming could have been taken from her. He didn't become a competitive racer until he was 9 years old. During his first Karting competition he placed second on the grid behind a very experienced kid who had lots of financial backing from his family. In his first race they battled all the way until the end of the race when he pushed his kart to the limit and snuck passed him to take the victory. That was the start of a long and difficult career in Europe and Asia due to many financial setbacks and difficulty finding seats. He eventually worked his way up through the ranks, achieving three Karting titles and the Asian F4 title until he reached Formula 3. This was his dream, the Formula Three Macau Grand Prix. He'd been hoping for this race since the moment he first saw it. He was not near the front of the grid but due to a few retiring cars and a two car crash. He found himself up in P5. He worked his way up the field to eventually overtake the Brazilian in P2 and the Russian driver out front in P1. The checkered flag would come a few laps later and he would find himself the winner of the Macau Grand Prix, a dream since he was young and the youngest winner of all time. He completed Formula 3 in 2nd Place and won his second season in Formula 2 due to a very reliable car with good straight line speed as well as persistence and talent.

As for his personal life during this time, he grew up in Germany for most of his childhood and speaks Mandarin Chinese, German and English. Felix was also given open access to the internet. This meant that he didn't have the typical conservative upbringing his cousins and relatives had in China. He reads and is knowledgeable about many global issues like racism, colonialism, homophobia, the privileges of rich people and more. Need less to say, his bisexuality wasn't a big deal to him but for his own safety as a Chinese-Macao citizen and driver, he stayed closeted. However he preaches his support for the LGBT community and tries to donate to causes he believes in but with his tight budget as it is, it makes it hard to do so. Still, he'll continue to preach his support for specific charities and worldwide issues. He also spends time learning guitar which has made many fellow drivers and staff wonder where the kid finds the time to do such a thing. After his Formula Two Championship win, he signed a year plus possible extension deal with Renault in Formula One and he hopes to continue to adapt, improve and get use to the machinery as he never thought he'd get to this point. He hopes to do well as a rookie and hopes he can keep it up to make sure he has a place in F1 next year or he could be out of a seat for a long time. He doesn't want all his hard work to lead to nothing.

Ross can be seen as a laid back fella, with a constant need for food and sleep. He is admittedly very lazy, yet his behaviour may change rapidly depending on the situation. Ross is an only child of a mixed couple and they were well off, his childhood is quite ordinary and in time he finds interest in this particular field. He became a big fan of the sport and would always dream of winning the 1st place in a race, this leads to him moving in with his uncle from Canada who happens to be a close friend of an f1 driver known as "Ben Bouchard". He is taken under their wing and proceeded to use all of his efforts into becoming the best of the best, which he clearly was too eager to achieve. He became easily distracted which caused an accident that left his mentor in coma, this is the time he started to eat and sleep constantly. The crash alone was caused by a faulty engine, which the retired f1 driver didn't blame on him. It was purely an accident waiting to happen, He was just at the wrong place at the wrong time though the young man's mind had snapped regardless.

Ever since then, Ross has ended up in 4th place which was thanks to his hard work. But that is the spot that he always get, it's very likely that it was intentional. This indeed confuses his manager, but the man himself is completely unbothered by it. He was no longer eager to be the best, lacking any real drive in moving forward. Seemingly stuck in one place, frozen in time. Simply getting by each day with the least amount of effort or even concern for the race, uninterested in the sport he was always been a big fan of.

Present

Not much has changed from before, other than the fact he has made quite a name for himself with people calling him "The 4th Place Hogger" due to him always ending up in the 4th place of every races he participated in. This got the media's attention with how consistent his results are, especially when he shows no concern over the big competition going around him. There were indeed praises and admiration thrown at him but the amount of nasty rumours and critics for his poor attitude is also as equal if not, more. This did draw more attention to him and not the good kind, nevertheless it was the least of his worries and he went on the same way with little change towards his everyday life. With Ben by his side, taking care of him since day one and even more so now with the upcoming races right on their doorstep.

A retired F1 driver and Ross's manager, He had taught the young man all the things that he knew. Helping Ross in achieving his dreams, though their history together run way deeper. leaving some strain in their relationship due to an accident that left him in coma, but he continues to look out for him and took care of the Ross like his own family.

Ross's Uncle, He is the one who took Ross to train under Ben Bouchard to help realise tis dream. He is mostly busy with work so he rarely speak with the young man, though he is indeed the only family in Canada and would be there to provide food and shelter at the very least whenever is needed.
