Victoria kneeled down in the empty room, her head bowed and her palms together as she muttered prayers under her breath in a quick and hushed voice. Her hair fell over her face as she prayed, the candle in front of her dim and casting shadows in every corner, the only decoration in the room being the crucifix on the wall. Something catches her attention, a scratching sound, and she looks up at the crucifix, her skin sheet white. She wasn't quite sure what the scratching sound was, perhaps it was inside her head, scratching the doors of the cage. The candle in front of her blows out suddenly, leaving Victoria in darkness, and hurriedly she stands, retreating from the room and trying not to trip over her floor length dress.

Lukas stalked around the city for a few hours before coming upon an old friend. She was human, and he hadn't seen her in ages. He bid her welcome and the went for a drink together. Her name was Anna, and she was one of the few humans that would let Lukas feed from her freely, as long as she wasn't in danger of dying from his feeding. They talked and ate and drank together as the sun fully set and when they were done, Anna led Lukas to a secluded place and he began feeding from her.

Victoria rushes down the stairs, desperate to be out of the house even though the thing haunting her was inside her and would be with her wherever she went. She grabs a long black coat and buttons it up, her hair tightly pinned on top of her head, and leaves the house. Stepping out onto the winter street and feeling the snowflakes land on her. Taking a deep breath, and being glad to be out of the house, Victoria begins to walk, the sound of snow crunching underneath her feet. She wasn't sure exactly where she was walking, but she let her feet guide her, without purpose.
