Aarix
Very well.
[edit: 21/08/2024 -- Hey, I'm back! I've updated this post with more specific info on what I'm about and what I like, in the hopes of finding roleplayers who are into the same kinda roleplays I am. I have a few random ideas kicking around to start us off, but they're less important than the stuff I'm going on about here, so... If you make it through this post, let's chat!]
Hi! I'm Aarix.
About Me:
Here is some media I like, to give you a feel for the kinds of things I'm into. Chances are, if you like this stuff, you'll like my writing. I'm not looking for fandom RPs, though! (Unless...?)
As you can see, I need humour to live, and I need characters who feel human in the best and worst ways. I'm not saying we have to RP a comedy festival, but you do need to be able to have a chuckle with me OOC at least. I take my characters seriously IC, but OOC I need to be able to have a laugh about them to break the tension at least occasionally. I need to be able to poke fun at their moments of hypocrisy, and I need you to enjoy doing the same.
The other thing I need is a give-and-take collaboration with little points of interest and worldbuilding. In my ideal RP, we are both each other's game masters to a casual extent, and we put effort into keeping the roleplay itself fresh and unpredictable (perhaps even going so far as to use the occasional dice roll--this isn't a requirement, but it is something I like to). If I put interesting things in a scene, I will get sad if they're constantly ignored. Likewise I will get bored if the only thing you give me to interact with is your one character and nothing else ever. I need to collaborate with you in weaving a sense of place, and life to that place. In a short term roleplay, this means a sense of excitement and implied depth to the world. In a long-term rp, this will result in continual interest, and increasingly deep worldbuilding by dribs and drabs. It's really important to me that we both have a sense of both curiosity and play, and a greater emphasis on improvisation and character than on anything else. I love to be able to "yes, and" our way through things together and have a great time while doing so.

About You:
Hi! I'm Aarix.
About Me:
- Late 20s
- GMT +2:00 (for the moment.)
- Can post at least once most days
- No triggers/squicks. Will respect yours.
- Normally roleplays my cherished OCs who I've had for years and years, but can write new ones too.
- Enjoys crafting surprises and being surprised too.
- Doesn't do fancy coding or care about faceclaims
- Can RP here or on discord. Likes to chat OOC.
- Ghost/ditch friendly. I know how it is.

- Disco Elysium (pre jamais vu, before the vultures got their hands on it), but not if you're the kind of person who couldn't bring themself to play meanie routes, ships anything in it unironically, or simps for Kim. If you're that kind of person, I am smiling wanly at you and opening the door to let you leave my RP seeking thread. I use DE as an example because the humour, grit, atmosphere, and humanity levels are what I aspire towards. DE is literallllly the game I would have made if I had skills and motivation and writing buddies with whom I shared a decade-long tabletop campaign and was from an ex-soviet european country.
- The Mighty Boosh. Peak surreal comedy bar none. Actually, peak comedy in general.
- Xavier Renegade Angel: the K2 of surreal comedy. janky irreverence, no-holds-barred satire, and blistering wordplay. If you think this show is gr9 we have something in common. If the visuals put you off... that's fair. I wouldn't be writing anything like this, it's just a test of taste (or, more accurately, lack thereof)
- Peep Show: apex cringe comedy. I am partial to a good nip of cringe comedy from time to time. My characters are often intended to induce such cringe, so it's vital that you (1) are aware of this, and (2) enjoy it.
- Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Some good wholesome cheese, with an exciting world, lovable characters and fantastic arcs for so many of them. A very palletable ratio of optimism to doom. If I could be part of a RP which was like this series from start to finish then I would die happy. The only major bad thing about this series is Worf. And Rick Berman, but that goes without saying.

- Open to the idea of doing a short term "test rp" to start
- Enjoys writing more than one character in a longer term rp
- Enjoys concocting IC surprises, keeping IC secrets until the perfect moment, etc...
- Not after romance and only romance. (I like romance! But only if our OCs get there naturally. The reason I didn't tag this thread as "romance" is because guaranteed romance is a guaranteed snooze)

- Ditch friendly. You know how it is.... but I won't ghost you unless I die for real.
