Drake Mikilian x Borealice

Drake Makilian

Dragon of anything really.
The empire was named Idra. Humans and dragons working as one. Conquering whole planets and solar systems with there vastly superior technology. The one key thing that no one else had was their medallions. These allowed them to breath in the depths of space, kept them warm or cool enough, and amplified their bodies to be the best they could. They were masterpieces created by one mind, the now emperor of Idra. These medallions controlled the people, kept them on a leash. If anyone disobeyed they would be killed by shutting off the medallions, or putting toxicities in their blood. He ruled with an iron fist.

However, there were two people, a dragon and a human, who would not stand for this, their families fled the empire of Idra, and were hunted. The children were not killed however and were imbued with these medallions as citizens themselves, but they know what became of their parents. These two all their lives have figured out the weaknesses of these medallions, and now, try to put the tyranny to an end.

Though bringing prosper and joy to the empire, the emperor, whom no one knows is a tyrant, killing those who are innocent to make others obey. He wipes out entire sentient species just to grab a planet for his race. No one likes this, but the medallions in their chest keep them in check. But soon, very soon, this will all change.

Gemma Gacrux sat at the rusted metal picnic table and picked at her box of food. The on planet raised chicken wasn't the best she'd had, but with her salary it was the best she could do. Strong arms flexed as she lifted and dropped the bits of meat and a sigh escaped her lips. Yet another day, yet another rude client. Why did she work for rich snobs again? Ah right, they were rich and had more interesting pets. Although if she had to treat another hurt avian because of some spoiled brats temper she was going to start throwing knives around.

This planet was a bit rougher than others she'd lived on before, but the population was better to hide in. It certainly wasn't her home system, but as it was unlikely she'd ever go there agin it would have to do.

Having had enough of greasy food she closed up the box and left it on the table. Someone who really needed it would pick it up if she left it. Adjusting her dark blue high collar shirt and brown pants she checked her bag and headed off into the throng of people in the market place. She kept her head down and did her best to blend in with the crowd, though she was the only obviously Alpha Coronae citizen around. Checking her medallion she saw she still had a good hour before her next appointment and so aimlessly wandered in the crowd to kill time.

Oscaval was in the slums. strolling down through the streets patrolled by old-tech rusty robots, no longer used because of how vastly overpowered the optimized body can be, but they were used here because frankly the people didn't care too much about these men woman and children. While he was strolling the street, hungry, he saw a box laying out on the table. He hadn't eaten for weeks since the shelter he had been in had shut down due to the caretaker being killed. He deserved it no doubt, but it left hundreds stranded, and they still were even more so now.

But life went on, and at least today he had a meal. Small, but a meal. Just as he finished a robot approached.

"Stealing is strictly... ZZT! Forbidden. Arrest with force." He ducked out of a way of a beam and just as some guards walked by tore the thing apart.

"You there! Property of the city is not to be vandalized! Come with us or face the consequences!"

"But-"

"Come with us." He was cuffed and thrown into the back of a hover-car and transported to the nearest place of law.

Gemma hadn't gotten far in the crowd when she saw her box of food get picked up. She smiled sadly to herself, the kid looked like he needed it. She was about to turn away when one of those damn annoying bots went up to the kid to bust him for stealing. She rolled her eyes, if it had been a guard they would have realized that food was left. She sighed, ready to go over and claim the kid.

But it seemed this bot was malfunctioning worse than usual as it actually shot at the kid! People yelled and scrambled away from the rouge robot and generally got in her way. "Move!" she shouted as she pushed people out of her way but by the time she got through it was too late and some, no doubt bored, guards nabbed the kid.

Feeling her temper rise she marked the station they were taking him to and hailed a temporary transport car with direction to take her to the station. Checking her medallion she sighed, now she was going to be late.

They arrived scant minutes after the guards and she angrily pushed open the front door, "Hey!" she shouted, lime green eyes flashing, "Hold on a second!"

"What is it you want girl?" They replied, "This man was seen destroying property of the city and he must be detained." The medallion had be set to detainment, an upward position aimed at the chest.

"But I didn't do anything but defend myself!?" Shouted Oscaval. He had had enough of this and he was about ready to do something about it, but then causing a scene would result in his death so he decided against it. Or, he could use a trick he had learned...

Girl? Gemma felt a tick start up in her eye at the term and drew herself up to her full height. She looked the kid over again, seeing rebellious glint in his eye. Much like she was won't to do with her more dangerous charges she scowled at him in the eye to challenge him and snapped her fingers before pointing down at the floor in a clear back down command. She didn't want him making things worse when she could still talk him out of this mess.

"He's right you know, the robot was clearly malfunctioning. I saw it myself." Her eyes glanced behind the guards and a smirk lifted her lips. "Well good afternoon Capitan Orion. What a surprise to see you here. I was just on my way over to your home to see to your panther. Has his ear been getting better?" Her tone was at once pleasant and subservient. The much higher ranked guard smiled at her, the man looking imposing with his trimmed beard and rank stripes.

"A good afternoon to you as well Ms. Gacrux. Sirius is doing much better now thanks to your skill." His warm greeting held a lot of respect for this young woman he was clearly acquainted with. He looked over the confrontational group with a raised brow. "I hope my recruits haven't been bothering you miss?"

"Not at all , sir. I was just explaining to them how a malfunctioning robot attacked this poor young man after I left him a bit of food. The robot misinterpreted him to be a thief."

"Uh, we... We just didn't see the thing attack him was all." Oscaval did all he could not to laugh at the recruits. Though why was this girl helping him? He never received help, from anyone. This time was suppose to be his death.

"Thank you miss. Thank you so much..." He trailed off into thought. Again, why was this girl helping him? Why him? This dragon probably deserved to die but yet he was being saved?

After they got out of the jail or whatever it was he just had to ask, "Why did you do this for me?"

Satisfied that they weren't going to be a problem any longer she nodded to her client and said her farewells. "I'll look over the cut again sir to make sure it's healing properly." He nodded his thanks and then turned to his recruits with a scowl.

Gemma walked out of the place next to him and blinked when he spoke to her. With a sigh she ran her fingers through short white locks and softly replied, "I did leave that food out for anyone who needed it. It didn't seem right to me to let you get into trouble when I could help. Besides, I loath government guards. However," she stopped and turned to him with a scowl, "Now I'm late for a date with a pissed off panther. And you," she poked him in the forehead with a finger, "are going to come help me keep him under control! Consider it payment for getting you out of trouble."

"Me?" Well, he wasn't going to turn her down after what she did for him, "Okay. I guess." He said with a shrug.

As they walked towards wherever they were going, he decided he wasn't going to say anything shyly. He just stood beside her, offering a ride in case she wanted it. Obviously no harm intended. Oscaval enjoyed this girl's company however and finally came up with the courage to ask her name.

"What's your name? I don't mean to pry but if I'm gonna' be helping you I might as well know it. I'm Oscaval, at your service." He wasn't sure why he added the, 'at your service,' part, but, he was sure that he needed to stay out of trouble, and this girl was the one that did save him, so he guessed it made sense.

She smiled brightly up at him, glad he got up the courage to speak to her. She planned on keeping him around and out of trouble, at least for a little while. "Well it's good to meet you Oscaval! I'm Gemma Gacrux. Veterinarian, and exotic animal trainer." As they left the poorer section of town towards some large imposing mansions she put a hand on his shoulder to pat it, "Are you new to this planet?"

"No, actually." He paused, "I've been here... A lot." He didn't like his history too much, as he wasn't fond of the abuse.

When they got into the rich district his jaw immediately dropped, he had never seen such a place, 'nor was he liked here. He'd never been here to this place ever. This was new, and it scared him. He started backing up a little hesitantly, "I-I don't think I'm welcome here." He didn't make a rush oddly enough, "But, I guess I've got nothing to lose."

She glanced at him but didn't pry. The people down in the slums didn't tend to have very happy stories. She should know after all. Lightly she replied, "Huh, yeah I've only been here a few months. I travel a lot."

Gemma paused when he did but kept a reassuring hand on him. "Don't worry, you're here with me. Most of the people are my clients. If you stick around me they won't say anything." She smiled with a lot of teeth, "Besides I know all about their little illegal pets, so they wouldn't dare anyways." She chuckled and tugged him a long towards a white stone building. "Here we are, the good Captains home. It's around back." It took a few minutes to circle the house but once they were around you could see what looked like an entire zoo with large habitats and buildings. A few random humans could be seen tending to the animals.

"It's this one," she lead the way to a dark building where angry yowls could be heard. "Just move slowly, and don't stare him in the eyes and you'll be fine."

He looked with gaping eyes, "Should I even go in with you? I mean, I'm not even a trained professional like you, I'm not meant for this." He tried to sound as calm as possible, though he was a dragon, a panther was... Was... He didn't know but he didn't like it.

But alas his curiosity got the better of him, "Fine I'll go in." After a bit of arguing he succumbed.

What was in there though, what would it look like?

"Good lad! You don't need skill, just guts and good reflexes." Gemma exclaimed as she held the door open for him to get through. The building was dimly lit with e few sparse windows and all around were piles of pillows, and rubber balls. Gemma walked confidently into the middle of the room and glanced around slowly. "Orion? Here kitty kitty kitty…" Unknown to her a black shadow moved on the beam above her and the panther, which was a little bigger than she was, crouched with tail twitching, ready to pounce.

"Look out!" Oscaval blocked the pounce of the panther, and being a dragon, scared the thing off into a run, if it wasn't too badly hurt not to run. He was bleeding however, because the claws penetrated his scales only slightly, and he was bit in the neck where she normally would of. He collapsed, blood trickling from his neck.

"I'm fine." He said after getting use to the pain.

Gemma had whirled around when she heard him shout and scowled at the fleeing panther before walking over to Oscaval with a sigh, "No you're not, let me look at it kid." She leaned up on her tip toes to see the bite and scratches and then turned to rummage in her bag for some clean bandages and tape. "Hold still, this'll sting," she commanded before pouring disinfectant on the wounds. "Stupid animal, you'd think by now he'd recognize me at least…" She shot the cat another scowl with teeth where it was curled up in the corner and the animal ducked it's head. He knew he was in trouble. She got on with bandaging Oscaval up and attached the clean bandages with some tape to hold it in place, "How's that feel?"

"Thank you, it feels fine." Was all he could say, still in a bit of shock at what he did. It could have killed him, for certain her though. Then he felt proud for saving this girl's life, well, not in a proud in your face way, but a self-fulfillment way, "So what are we gonna do with the cat?" He was curious now, putting the whole thing behind him.
