Fantasy Dragons Riders of Argan Lore

Blitzer

Elder Member
Argan and Targan collectively known as Argan with the monarchy coming from the Argan branch and the military leadership from the Targan branch. This former empire was driven in a corner of the empire where they managed to successfully defend themselves with their few remaining elite dragons and the power of the bloodmages of the Argan branch and the famed black lightning of the Targan branch. However when the war finally ended, from the remaining dragons and some traded dragons, they built a military unrivaled in the world by the raw power of their superior dragons and mages. Finally with war drawing on, they have started to gather their massive army, intent on regaining their empire once lost.

Argan sits like peninsula in between a massive mountain range in which dwarves live. With the length of about 100 miles long, it is not very large with the country of Ariel guarding the exit of the mountain, and consequently their first target in their plans of world domination. Prepare for war!

Mechanics:

Dragons Lore: Dragons are sentient as long as they are bound to a human and only when bound to a human. When they are bound to a human, their brains are interlaced, sharing whatever they see or think with each other. If this bond is broken, which is hard to do, the dragon will generally go insane unless it was naturally as in the case of the masters death. However this does not apply to humans. Dragons are either elemental or mana based. In the case of elemental dragons, they may have one element (earth, water, air, or fire), or all of them. Some dragons have combinations of power (see elemental section) giving them the special combination of those elements. A mana based dragon however only shares their mana with their master and is unable to cast spells. Dragons come in a few sizes. Dreadnought class are massive dragons bigger than castles capable of massive destruction. Destroyer dragons are the medium size dragons more suited to maneuverable air combat. Minature dragons are only large enough for humans to ride them, often a bit larger than hums. Destroyer dragons have the most variety in dragon type however and are the most common. The size and power of a dragon are determined by the wealth of the respective owners. It is impossible for a normal dragon rider to have powerful dragon. Only high ranking nobles or their sponsored retainers can own powerful dragons especially Dreadnought class.

Argan Lore: With magic being as dangerous a force as dragons, all families with powerful magic in their blood were folded into noble families. The only truly powerful magicians all come from noble families. Also to get a good training in magic, there is the magic academy for those who can afford it and for the extremely wealthy, private tutorship which always breed the best magicians.

Elves are a decently common species in Argan. However pure blooded elves cannot use magic, but they are resistant to magic and are twice as strong and fast as humans. Dwarves are non-existent out of their mountains with their constant fight against the orcs. The Church of Argan has a powerful presence in Argan with their own military using their highly secretive magic. To attempt to leave the church with knowledge of the Holy magic means death. A king once attempted to steal the secret, and the church subsequently executed him and installed his son as king.

The other special classes of magic remain in Argan and Targan. Only the Argan have blood magic, and only they may protect the king and country having their own internal spy system. The Targan have the black magic. Specific magic types may be passed down through family lines.

Currently Taraven Argan is king of the country, recently installed as king. General Soran Targan, head of the Targan family is general of the military. At current power the army stands at a hundred thousand men and 50 thousand dragons. Guns have recently made their way onto the battlefield, and the army is mostly equipped with guns of the early type.
