Howdy! I'm jellopy, any pronouns, and I am still hollering out into the void trying to find a Dragon Quest: Adventure of Dai (Dai no Daibouken) RP partner.
Guidelines
21+ partners preferred, 18+ partners required. (I'm old and don't feel comfortable RPing with minors anymore.) Third person only, past or present tense. Please be communicative and flexible about reply times. I try to reply once a week at the minimum, and can sometimes reply multiple times a day, but it really depends on what's going on in my life and if I have the writing juice. If I feel like it'll take longer than a week to get back to you I'll try to let you know. Either RPN PM or Discord is fine, but I won't share Discord contact info in public.
I'm not super picky about word or paragraph counts and have always scoffed at the 'literacy scale'. Dialogue-heavy scenes will naturally have shorter posts than exposition heavy ones. That being said, my posts tend to average between two and six paragraphs depending on what's going on, and I do like a partner who can average at least one to three. If your writing style is one-liner heavy we might not mesh very well.
What am I looking for in an RP?
I'm mostly a canon + canon RPer, but also enjoy canon + OC stories. OC + OC doesn't interest me as I RP primarily to explore my favorite characters within my favorite settings. Doubling is available, and I like storylines with multiple characters involved in at least a minor capacity. Romance is optional. I'd love to flesh out the lore and worldbuilding of the series, potentially adding concepts from other Dragon Quest media. I'm most familiar with I-III, X, and XI but am slowly playing through the rest and can look up details if need be. I also love AUs and crossovers!
Characters + Plots
I'm mostly looking for stuff involving Avan, Popp, Hadlar, and/or Zamza, as those are my favorite characters. There are very few characters I don't like in this series though, so feel free to ask me about your faves too. I don't have any fully fleshed out plots as I'd prefer to craft one with my partner, but here are some snippets of potential ideas.
- An Avan x OC RP where I write the OC for some self indulgent fun. Would double if you want canon x OC in return. Have some ruminations about an isekai angle to this, though it's totally optional.
- A plot expanding on the Romos tournament arc and Zamza's character, likely diverging from canon in order to give his story a different ending.
- If we do romance, I ship Avan with Flora, Hadlar, and Roka. I'm also fond of Hym x Zamza, even though those two characters never meet in canon.
- Prequel/hero era Avan? I can fill you in on lore from the prequel series if needed!
- Post-apocalyptic AU centering around Avan. Could be a Vearn Wins story given his final plan, or the apocalypse could happen some other way. I'd like for this to remain in a DQ setting ultimately, though. Post-apoc fantasy is fun!
- A post-series story of some sort dealing with the direct aftermath of the ending. Would also be fun with some AU flavor sprinkled in.
- It doesn't eat my brain as much as it used to but a crossover with FFXIV could be pretty interesting. I'm mostly up to date on the plot of that game, but haven't done the newest patch yet.
- Vampire Avan?
- Let's brainstorm for more potential ideas!
