Dark Sadistic Killer
Each and every dragon known to Terrabesis has a purpose, every one defined and shown as plain as day

dragons created Terrabesis, they made the air, the land, the sea, they governed and regulated this with their powers to tame the seas, rule the land and concur the parlis lava flows. It was not long after their creation they sought to share it. From this they gave life to humans. The humans were eternity grateful for the gift of life, as a response to this they sacrificed their best livestock and crops. This was done annually and seasonally. It became known as the solstices and each solstice a different dragon was honored. Though surprised the dragons gratefully accepted their offerings claiming they did not want nor need them. Still though the humans honored them, thanked them and though they had nothing to offer them in return they tried to keep up on the earth and as it changed.

Before long the dragons sought to repair the land as the humans destroyed it. This more often than not caused the humans to be angry. The once strong bond between the humans and the dragons began to sever then. With more humans came more need for repair and soon the dragons even were becoming less capable to control the powers they once had strength over. Storms raged, volcanoes erupted and earthquakes began to happen. The dragons fought with their elements in the struggle to keep the balance. Eventually they gained control but the humans wondered, when this would occur again. Before long they began to think of ways to keep the balance themselves to make it so every harvest was a plentiful one. After that the bond with dragons was severed, for what seemed like good.

Humans began to use the dragons instead of worship them, they enslaved them to bring forth the minerals and control the weather and rage war with themselves. The longer they did this the further humans became from the dragons until they almost stopped bonding with them. This also began to take it's toll on the dragons for they had created these bonds with the humans so that they could be ridden and loved. As the riders died so did the dragons until only few remained and they hid. Hiding was only half the battle though the humans were crafty and tried to hunt them to extinction. The dragons did all that they could to prevent this from happening until they evolved.

Rider Lore;

No one really knows how riders came to be. The way it started and the way it is now seemed like very log time ago.

Riders are born to every dragon that hatches. Every dragon has a rider. Typically. When a rider is born the humans used to know right away. They would relocate closer to one of the nests of dragons and keep relocating until they found the right class the rider belonged to. Now the humans don’t know when a rider is born and it is up to the rider to find their dragon on their own.

Riders often find themselves pretty restless. They spend time moving and often don’t like staying in one place too long unless a dragon nearby is nearby and their dragon is apart of that nest.

Most dragons are also restless and will often try and leave the nest early to find their rider. Dragons must be extra vigilant when this occurs and so it takes two dragons to watch a nest but often that nest will be watched by almost every dragon in that class.

Riders will often get splitting headaches whenever their dragon tries to converse with them or even with other dragons. The headache can occur from any time from birth until the rider seeks and locates its dragon. In rare cases the rider does not receive these headaches.

Riders can be of any age but ice a bond is made with their dragon aging ceases entirely. For the human.

In rare cases the dragon and the rider do not create a bond that is very strong and this can lead to death of both the rider and the dragon. If combat is achievable while bond is still being made and serious wounds are inflicted than both the rider and the dragon can pass away. Rarely the dragon survives and visa versa.

Bonds can be created with any and all classes! Which means as a rider you may pick one class of dragon you wish to be rider of! You must spend lots of time with your dragon in order to make the bond complete. Dragons especially of the earth class will often find the rider and leave the dragon baby near the riders home so they have an earlier onset of the bond. The longer time you spend with your dragon the greater your bond is.

Dragon Classes:

Knobles: Knobles are high and mighty, they control the air and atmosphere and even have been known to move the stars. They are usually purple, dark silver, and black. More often then not they are the largest and the most fluffy. They have been known to have several pairs of wings than just one, they also have been known to have more tails than one. They are the most nimble and flexible taking on the most snake-like features. These dragons are the most honorable and noble of the classes. They protect and harbor the safety of their riders before their own. They spit lighting.
Alkani: Metaloids, they are usually comprised of whatever metal they are born as, everything from their skin to their bones and what they spit. These dragons are typically the most distrusting of all the dragon classes. These dragons are typically the most in mass, though most do not have wings they CAN and some are known not to have tails but not because they were not born with them but because after they loose them they seldom grow back. Once a bond is created with these dragons it is VERY hard to break it. They spit gases and or their metal.
Helgolands: Fire and lava, these dragons are the most spiteful and hot headed of the classes. They get angry but are the most trusting. they love humans and pursue them closely these dragons are the second easiest to make bonds with. These dragons spit lava and fire and are typically the prettiest and most fur-less. They fear nothing and will lay down their lives for a human. They are colored with reds yellows and oranges with sometimes black.
Naturals: These dragons are the smallest, kindest and loving of all the classes. They are the most protective of the classes and will often kill and eat a human if their rider is threatened. They are coloured with soft browns and greens. These ones have an equal chance to have all the traits aforementioned. They spit acid typically.
Liquidus: Water types, these are the easiest to make bonds with. They are often the ones with the most fins and some if not most are considerably blind above water but not below. They are extremely good swimmers. They are the only species of dragon known to survive the death of their rider by making bonds with other riders. They are coloured blue and white and silver. Boiling hot or frozen water is what they spit.

Naturals
The Earthen dragons often referred to as Naturals are among the smallest of the dragon species roughly the size of larger feline species ( Jaguars, Tigers, Lions etc.) often being mistaken as small wyverns as evolution has taken their wings from their backs that were once meant for flying in the sky and webbed them between their arms only allowing them to glide long distances at great speeds.

This evolutionary trait has given them the advantage of living within the dense forests climbing amongst trees and nesting against and within the craggy mountainsides.

Their shimmering scales that were once present replaced with a duller tone of browns, greys, tans and greens for camouflage besides the males which may be adorned with bright colorful feathers or scales for courtship purposes.

These beasts are naturally protective of others occasionally adopting a pack like mentality regardless of species especially other dragons and their riders fighting fang and claw before letting their comrades fall before they do.

However as agile as they are they could not manage to run from the oppression of the human race. Now they are used as beasts of war and for various purposes as mounts to traverse dangerous terrain and even have begun being used as couriers delivering packages and letters to the far reaches of the continent.

Naturals sport a few weapons that the species has developed over time.

Their strong claws are extremely arced for gripping and tearing like a hawks talons.

They also utilise the acidic glands in their throats to send forth twin jets of acid spray at blinding speeds which can melt even metal if potent enough.

Their drawbacks being that they can not necessarily fly any longer having grown accustomed to climbing and weaving through the thick foliage and vegetation of the grand forests that they reside in.

They are also as mentioned above are the smallest of all the dragon species and if locked within one on one combat and caught by their enemy often stand no chance.
Relying on Agility, and trusting their packs or riders are the way these great beasts survive during this great time of turmoil.

Knobles

Worshiped upon the fall solstice. These creatures are very large in comparison to their brethren. They are light and extremely airy in look and feel. Most use the wind to glide through the air but may support up to four sets of wings for easy flying and gliding. They have the power to harness the weather and manipulate it how they choose. They are usually very dark in colour and shiny with scales that mimic a rainbow. It is believed once a rainbow is spotted that these dragons were basing in the sunlight.

Humans hunted them to bear extinction for their diamond scales which was used for a verity of things. They harnessed some for the energy they emitted from their mouths in the form of lighting. Sadly the shear size of these dragons made most of them who were captured to pass away from malnutrition.

These dragons breed only once every century. They find a mate and mate with them for life. Though some can mate more often they never pick another mate after theirs dies. They live for thousands of years and as they age they become more knowledgeable. They enjoy reading and are very strong with dialect of different human languages as well as dragon languages. They are seen as teachers and the longest living dragons.

A drawback of this class is that they must have or be around colder temperatures where the air is thinner they must eat a lot and they only breed once every century unless mated for life. They have hollow bones and can fly great distances along the wind. They have a high chaotic energy that can be felt even if not firing their lightning. Some of these dragons can also emitt a concussive Sound to disable ebonies and or kill them.

They can not withstand long periods of time in the heat though if directly hit with flame or lava they are particularly immune. They often love rain and swimming. Water dragons are their best friend and is the only class they can mate with outside their own.

They are extremely loyal to their riders once a bond is made. Humans often have a tendency to die faster than with other species after the dragon bond is severed. Since their evolution they have been able to jump higher run farther distances and are more cuddly. They love to play and romp with other dragons. They have a strong will to lead and take stance not to harm humans wherever possible.

They are the only class to not have any real nesting ground but rather picks a place safe within water territory or earth territory to nest. Most of these dragons are very friendly and curious and have the most cat-like features.

Helgolands
Fire...bringer of life and destruction. Burning hot, given to the most passionate of emotions; anger, lust, hate. This describes the fire and lava dragons, or as they are known, Helgolands. Larger than most dragons, they still possess their wings which enable them to fly, often being the size of five-to-seven-story buildings though their young are often the size of a lump of coal upon first hatching, reaching their full height upon maturity, twenty years after the onset of their lifespan, with the eldest of the dragons reaching seven stories, the average Helgoland being five stories tall. Light enough to fly through the air, they are the second largest dragons known though heavier in weight than the Knobles. Despite not being as light, they are still strong and able to carry quite a bit of weight and passengers, should anyone dare to ride these anger-fueled beasts through the skies.

Helgolands were not always full of anger and a desire to burn all they touch, this developed over years of mistreatment and abuse. Within the far past of their ancestors, back when they still resembled what man thinks of as dragons, Helgoland were worshiped and treated like Gods. Man revered and feared them, seeking out their wisdom and council, temples were even devoted to them throughout the land, particularly temples within hot regions of the world and on the summer solstice, man and dragon came together as one being. In the distant past, the Helgoland taught man the ability of fire and helped shape them into the creatures they became today. But that all changed almost centuries ago with the rise of Merdeim Pada who led a group of humans to enslave the dragons and fully conquer the world.

Often the prettiest and the least furless, the Helgoland still retain some of their dragonish features such as scales and their wings, sharp claws and teeth. They come in different colors yet are often in shades of reds, yellows and oranges though some come in black. Some fire and lava dragons end up coming in shades of mutiant green, blue or purple; these dragons tend to have the hottest fire burning within their bodies and comes out white which is the hottest fire there is. Fire dragons and lava dragons, the separate species of Helgoland, have a couple of physical differences to tell them apart, yet both breathe fire with lava Helgoland breathing lava and fire. Fire dragons typically have fins from the top of their skulls down to their tails while lava dragons are born with molten lava tails which harden to black scales as they grow older. Some fire dragons will have a tuft of fur at the end of their tails though occasionally a Helgoland has an undying flame on their tail. It is said that if a Helgoland’s core body temperature is lowered to subzero temperatures and goes out, the Helgoland will die. Because of this and their internal fire sacs which allow them to breathe fire and/or lava, they do fare well in cold places or water.

Fire dragons typically have fins along their backs between white spikes, extending from their skulls to their tails with tufts of fur on the end or fire. Their bodies are furless and often decorated in red, oranges or yellows/golds with smoldering orange, copper or yellow eyes with reptilian slits. The Helgolands’ horns curve backward and are typically gray or black, somewhat rigid and circular in appearance but very strong. Their eggs are either red, orange or gold with black veins running throughout the eggs. Baby Helgoland have no horns, these grow throughout their life and reach their full extent by maturity though females’ horns are half the size males. Male fire dragons have a large frill around their necks which can be extended to make themselves look bigger, it is thought that they use this for courtship displays. Their wings are typically darker shades of red with pale yellow or gold undersides.

Lava dragons often live in subterranean areas where they can bask close to the core of the earth, their eyes adapting to low level lighting of the earth’s interior. Both lava and fire dragons generate heat as well, but lava dragons generate more heat due to having larger fire sacs in their bellies where their fire and/or lava is stored. The species tends to live in hot areas such as deserts or near or within volcanoes or underground. Clutches of eggs are often laid in winter and hatch within summer, a typical clutch is typically 3-6 eggs and they resemble stones that are hollow.

Lava dragons are always black with black horns and always smoldering orange eyes like embers with no pupils. They have red veins throughout their bodies which are extremely hot. They have black claws like their fire brethren though lava dragons are black and red with orange undersides. Their wings are black with red undersides, both fire and lava Helgoland have bat-membrane like wings. their bodies are extremely hot and generate heat. Lava dragons though are born all black and quite small, tiny in comparison to how they get when they're older...the only physical difference in a lava dragon hatchling and a fire dragon hatchling is for the lava dragons, the end of their tail is molten orange which hardens to black as they get older.

Many Helgoland suffer scars and other forms of abuse from their treatment at the hands of humans. Once kind and loving towards humans, they willingly allowed man to enslave them. It was only, as the years passed, that they began to develop an undying hatred towards man and lost trust in them. Originally enslaved to help light fires, the smaller dragons were often taken away from their parents and used to heat homes though upon reaching adolescence they were either put to work making weapons, as guards or, for the fiercer of the dragons, thrown in the ring to fight each other. Helgoland typically are used to guard vaults, houses, temples and important people.

Eggs now are typically hatched in the ring. These newborn dragons are watched closely for signs of dominance and strength…those that are the most assertive at dominance are trained from a young age to fight while the rest go to the homes of man. A dragon that has been chosen to fight is typically kept away from its parents and raised in terrible conditions, so that by the time they are ready for the ring, they are fierce creatures. Those that don’t shape up are typically thrown into the ring to be used as bait for more dominant dragons along with the Alkani dragons to be used as practice and get the dragons used to killing and bloodshed. It is for these reasons that a Helgoland typically doesn’t develop a bond with their clutch, knowing they will face them in bloodshed.

A thing to note about Helgoland is that the lava species are typically bulkier than any other dragon, outside of the Knobles whom are heavier. This makes them rather slow in the air and unable to turn as quickly but they can swim through lava like a Liquidis through water. Fire Helgoland are somewhat smaller though still bulky; however, they have more agility due to their slightly smaller size. The scales of Helgoland are quite strong and durable as well as being impervious to fire, because of this, humans will skin them and use their hides to make armor, often mixing it with the scales of Alkani to create impressive armor that can stop almost any weapon.

A female Helgoland can often lay four to six clutches of eggs at a time. Helgoland do not mate with any one partner, rather they practice polygyny to increase the chances of survival. When born, young dragons are fully capable of eating meat and walking, the typically begin fighting as soon as they get out of the egg and exerting dominance. Not all eggs in a clutch are fertile and baby Hegoland will often end up eating their deceased brethren. Pregnant Helgoland typically stop eating for two weeks before it is due to lay their eggs. Male Helogland are typically highly possessive of their mates, often keeping a group of four to eight females in a group and fiercely guarding it with their lives.

Their strength and bulk make them excellent fighters. They are used to throwing their weight around though if they do, on the rare chance, bond with a human they can be quite loyal. Helgoland are fiercely protective of their riders and their mates, often getting into death matches with others of their own kind and other dragon species. They are outmatched only by the Knoble dragons due to size and weight difference, their mass and muscle making them not as graceful in the air. Their size also makes it difficult to get through forested landscapes, thus they prefer open areas with mountains which they can perch upon and hunt from. Helgoland, vicious as they are, hold long memories and thus never forget any wrong towards them or their riders. If their rider is killed, the dragon will raze the earth to the ground and seek out vengeance, however they have the ability to bond with other riders though most often do not and die soon after.
