Please do not post in this thread. Thank you!
Rule #1 - No God-Modding.
Pretty self explanatory, and I know most of you know what this means. However, here are my four primary concerns regarding God-Modding in an RP of this nature:
- If I, as the GM, write in one of my posts that someone's character is damaged by an ambush NPC attack, and that player tries to write that they saw it coming and avoided it despite that I already damaged them... That's God-Modding.
- If someone damages their own character in a post, and another player decides to "undo" the damage by having their character step in to save them and writes that the other player didn't take damage (even if it looks like a noble effort)... That's God-Modding.
- Constantly avoiding incoming attacks to escape unharmed, or even relatively unharmed, against an enemy that is either in the "equal" range or "superior" range is God-Modding.
- If anyone decides at any point to execute a transformation to another level of Super Saiyan without first having received my permission, that's God-Modding.
Rule #2 - Character Control
If I, as the GM, create an NPC and use it in a post, you may not take control of that NPC character underhand circumstances nor for any reason unless I give you permission to do so.
The same is true in reverse. However in most cases even I as the GM, if you create an NPC, will not take control of that NPC at any time nor for any reason without your permission.
* However, as the GM, I reserve the right to interact directly with any and all player characters however I wish so long as I believe it suits the story.
Rule #3 - No Deus Ex Machina's.
What is a Deus Ex Machina? Most of us know the answer to that question. It's bit like God-Modding. Basically you find some kind of mythical, magical, or otherwise impossible circumstance to prevent the absolute worst from occurring. Let me give you a few examples:
The Matrix - Trinity kisses neo because she fell in love with him and believes he is The One. The kiss awakens Neo even after he is dead. Result - Deus Ex Machina.
Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Arc - One of my favorite movies growing up, but the end scene where the Nazi's are all killed by the Arc and Indy and his girl are saved just by closing their eyes equals one thing = Deus Ex Machina.
Superman II - Back in the good old days with Christopher Reeves (may he RIP), Superman in this movie gives up his power via the "irreversible effects" of Red Kryptonian light to live as an earthling until Zod and crew arrive. He then returns to his crystal cave and finds the glowing green crystal used to reverse the effect of the irreversible effect of Red Kryptonian light. Not only that, but he somehow gained the ability to remove memories with a kiss... Yeah, big Deus Ex Machina.
So there will be no Deus Ex Machina's in this RP to win the day. We'll have to do it the old fashioned way!
Rule #3 - Respect your fellow role-players.
This one is self explanatory, but I demand of everyone who joins this RP that you respect your fellow role-players and treat them the way you wish to be treated. If you find that you don't like something that somebody did, don't take it out on them, send me a message addressing your concerns and complaints and I will deal with them. As the GM and the person who created and runs the RP, that's what I'm here for.
Rule #4 - When it comes to who beats the major enemies we'll face in the RP, we will hold a discussion about it in the OOC.
All major enemies such as Inecros will be too powerful for any one Saiyan to beat by themselves unless they are using or discovering a new SS level with which to surpass their power enough to defeat them.
For example Era will be the one to defeat Inecros, and the rest of the cast is going to be reduced to watching and hoping that Era can pull it off because of how high her power and Inecros' will be compared to their own. It just won't be feasible for them to participate once that battle begins.
When it comes to future major enemies, we will discuss and vote on who among the cast should be able to land the killing blow. In the discussion, practicality takes precedence and the one chosen should be whomever you believe is the obvious choice based on a few factors:
1) Whether or not they even can land the finishing blow
2) Whether or not they deserve the finishing blow because of any history or personal vendetta
3) Whether or not they have a more compelling reason to land the finishing blow
Notice that "they haven't killed a major enemy yet" is NOT part of this equation. I don't care who has or hasn't killed a major enemy yet, nor do I care if anyone's feelings get hurt because they still haven't had their chance yet. The finishing blow against a major enemy should always go to the one with the greatest reasons for doing so, and none of those reasons should be OOC personal ones. IC personal ones are fine. But OOC personal reasons (such as if they're your character) I could care less about.
Our OOC feelings play no role in this decision.
Rule #5 - Be vocal.
If you think that something within the RP such as a mechanic or something like that needs to change, then tell me. Just because I made the RP doesn't mean it's perfect and shouldn't be fixed or adjusted from time to time. So I encourage all of you to be vocal about your thoughts on the RP and about how you believe we can make it better.
Also, if you want to collaborate with someone else and put your characters together for something, be it combat or conversation, please let the other players and me as the GM know about it. If you just assume to write for their characters, that is called Power Playing and that is a no-no. So be vocal about such things. Collaboration is a beautiful and wonderful thing, but it needs to be communicated.
Also as the GM I need to know of your progress if you're working on a collaboration. Collaboration takes time due to real life happenings keeping you away, so if you are collaborating with someone and don't keep me informed of your progress so I know when to expect a post, I will presume that you're okay with me continuing to move the RP forward.
Rule #6 - Super Saiyan transformations!
For the purpose of the story, Era will be the one to discover the first Super Saiyan transformation.
After Era has discovered the first Super Saiyan transformation, and as we get closer to subsequent transformations, all other first time acquisition of subsequent transformations will be decided by joint decision in the OOC.
It's a vote, and you can only vote for one character and it cannot be your own.
If your character is never chosen to discover a level of Super Saiyan before anyone else because of chance, then that’s just how it goes and I will accept no complaints about this. It’s all fair and by a vote, so if you are upset with the results, you’ll have to keep it to yourself.
Thank you!
