I'm curious though, how would the process of playing go?

Awesome! We'd basically play by following the original plorline of the story whilst we try to strengthen our own bannorns. Whilst dealing with problems from both the blight and the civil war, we would interact by writing letters to one another at first. And each of us could start their own sub plot at any time, which the other character would react differently to based on personality.

(Hmm. None of my pictures worked, is there a limit to the pixel size or file size that can be uploaded?)

Great! I'll give it a go at starting!

Fenros,

I have been informed that you were not at Ostagar when the king, and my father, perished. You and I met on multiple occasions during the king's visits throughout the countryside so I feel safe assuming that you did not exit the field out of cowardice, still some believe that so beware your angry neighbors.

It would also seem that your new territories are not far from my own, only a few days journey. Which leads me to my next proposition.

We must work together, form an alliance. Your lands are young an in this turbulent time those around you will try to conquer your holdings, using the blight and war as a cover for their actions. I fear the same may happen to me, my father and our army was lost at Ostagar and I haven't the men or funds to rebuild to it's full strength. To solidify this alliance, I would offer my sister's hand in marriage to you, Bann Rohyr.

Justice and mercy,

Bann Robert Margrave.

Felros wondered his ornate gardens, deep in thought over the ill times that lay ahead... "My Lord! A raven has arrived, a letter, bearing the mark of Bann Robert Margrave."

Felros looked up, eyebrows wide with a mixture of feeling, "Put it on my study." Hurrying up to his absurdly large bedroom, Fenros plopped himself onto his seat and hastily red the letter.

The new Bann smiled at the contents, rather than threats - which he had received many of - it was a proposition, a favourable one. An alliance would strenghen both houses greatly. Felros new Bann Margrave to be a man of honour, who was also against Loghain's false claims. Yes, this was good...

Robert,

I am most glad to have received this letter, and gladder still at its favourable contents. Unfortunately your words bode true for us all, and I fear the tyrant Loghain will pull us all to ruin, much like the young King Cailan, Maker guide his soul.

However I have reason to believe the neighboring Bann Roland will soon attempt an invasion, though your proposition brings me new hope. Though I have nothing to offer you at this time, I can swear on Andraste's grace that I will assist you in whatever way I possibly can.

I would be most happy to take your sister's hand in marriage, uniting our houses in the eyes of the Maker. Though I will only do so should Elenore wish of it.

Honour to the end,

Bann Felros Rohyr.

Robert spent his time awaiting a response dealing with the major landowners of his bannorn, talking them down and appeasing them with gifts of rights and riches to keep them loyal to his cause. He also hired a group of mercenaries to scour his lands in search of merchants to send to the Northern Bulwark in hopes of igniting trade there.

As he spent his time overlooking reports of the bannorn's treasury his seneschal came to him "My lord, a letter from Bann Fenros Rohyr for you." he was excited, yet dreading the possible responses, he took the letter and read it immediately.

"Fenros,

I am very gladdened by your news of accepting my alliance and my sister's hand in marriage, I would like for her to meet you herself the next time you are able to visit.

Please keep me updated on th situation with Bann Roland, I will do all I can from my end to stop him from such a foolish course of action.

Justice and mercy,

Bann Robert Margrave.

During the days that went by Fenros hadn't had much action to take, he couls spare no more riches for trade, nor more soldiers, for fear of the neighboring Bannorn invading. However, a patrol was said to have stumbled upon a veridium mine when hunting. Veridium would have been a great equipment source, but he lacked the blacksmiths and coin, and he needed coin. Instead, he opted to sell the veridium to smiths for a fair price.

Robert,

Unfortunately, I will not be able to visit for some time, until my borders are sufficiently guarded, and people content, I will make haste to your holdings.

Until then, I wish you the best of luck on your goals. I believe Bann Roland means to attack with the aid of a large band of mercenaries named the Red Falcons. I am desperate, and though are alliance is yet to be solidified, I wish to inform you of a potential course of ation, I believe words will not sway him.

Instead, I plan to pay the mercenaries to turn on their current buyer, and join my own forces instead, but to do this, I would need 2500 sovereigns, my vaults are bare, I have a mere 300, and after I complete the sale of my veridium, I will still only possess a small 1100.

Honour to the end,

Bann Felros Rohyr.

While waiting for a response, Robert has arranged a meeting with the son of Bann Roland in the hopes of these aging the boy's father from his current course of action. He has also set his seneschal, Henry Vollick, to the task of rebuilding his lands' army after the loss at Ostagar.

Felros,

I am deeply saddened to hear of the dire situation. I cannot spare much coin for this endeavour, my seneschal has been training a new army for my land, and I will offer it to assist you in defending your lands from Bann Roland.

Justice and mercy,

Bann Robert Margrave.

During the idle days, Felros began to appease the people of his bannorn by spending some of his money toimprove living condition. Upon receiving the response however, he spent more on the people, and any remainder went towards troop training. Effectively draining all sovereigns he possessed.

Robert,

I have canceled my plan, in favour of brute force. Though I hope you understand, even by combining our armies, Bann Roland may still invade, if he decides to do so, we will both lose our military might, making us easy targets for the other Bann's... I fear I am at an impass, as I know not of what to do.

Honour to the end,

Bann Felros Rohyr.

Robert assisted in making trade agreements during the waiting days. He even made an agreement with a guild of merchants to build a new dock in Northern Bulwark, or Bulwark as it was known to the people, to gain more trading space.

Fenros,

I fear that as well, and I know of no easy way to proceed. All I can think of is to contact the outlaw Warden who we've all heard so much about.

I have been told that he recently left Orzammar on his way to the circle of Magi, and I have instructed a few of my best men to track him down and tell him of our situation and to plead for his assistance.

We can only pray to the Maker that he can offer us support.

Justice and mercy,

Bann Robert Margrave.

(I was thinking we could use the player character as a sort of deus ex machina for this situation, give us some help, boost our prestige.)

(Also, let's do this. Every time something happens to change the state of our holdings, we give an updated account of our scales? Like I did before the letter.)

Fenros adapted to the situation at hand, instead of plotting with coin, he attempted to ally with the neutral Bann Emett's lands, further hoping to deter an invasion attempt from Bann Roland.

Robert,

Your plan is a risky one, yet a risk that must be take, I fully support your endeavor. Though I must question how a small band of outlaws - warden or no - can help us in the face of an army.

As we are out of options, I can understand your action. But I sincerely hope you know what you're doing. Inviting the wardens could bring more problems than the solutions, we already have enough enemies.

Honor to the end,

Bann Felros Rohyr.

After a few days, I receive word that the Warden has heard of our plight, and comes to Bulwark to meet me. I hastily prepare my Capitol for visitors, spending 200 of my remaining sovereigns to clean the streets and arm the guard and put tapestries and banners up, leaving me with a mere 50 sovereigns left.

Fenros,

I have received news that the Warden intends to meet me in Bulwark, by the time this letter reaches you I'm sure she will already be here. I've taken the liberty of speaking for both the North Hills and Highpoint during our discussion.

The point of her visit will be any possible way to assist Highpoint, anything else would be secondary.

Justice and mercy,

Bann Robert Margrave

Relations with Bann Emett are in fact increased somewhat, though the man doesn't offer much assistance for fear of his own lands. He does offer to accept a trade route with Highpoint, increasing wealth, and a slight amount of recourses. Increasing the treasury from a poor 0 to a still bare 200.

Robert,

I pray to the Maker tha this plan works to expecations, I fear if it does not, we will be in a deeper position of peril. Loghain's allies will not look upon this lightly, this may make us a target.

Watch yourself for the next few days, I would not hold it past Loghain to try to have you and the Warden's assassinated. Two loose ends tied for him. Don't allow it.

Honor to the end,

Bann Felros Rohyr.

Before Bann Fenros' letter arrives, the Wardens arrive at Highpoint. Their entrance is paraded by a planned procession through the streets to small keep where Bann Robert resides. He comes out to greet them happily and they seem to enjoy the festivities. They are led to the great hall where the best foods of the kitchens are laid out and the fires burn hot as to keep the stone hall warm all through the day and night.

Robert explains his plight to the Warden in command, Elissa. Telling her that he and his fellow Bann Fenros are both new and weakened by the defeat at Ostagar and Loghain's retreat and that the neighboring lords prey upon us, circling our lands like wolves to their kill. He pleads to her to offer any assistance she can, and informs her that full support of both the Bann's resources and armies are at her disposal should she help us. She agrees and strikes out to the lands of Bann Roland to see what can be done.

Robert receives Fenros' letter not two hours after she left, and immediately writes back.

Fenros,

I feel optimistic for this. I spoke to the Warden, and she seemed to sympathize with our plight, her own family, the Couslands, having suffered a similar fate to what we have suffered must have weighed heavily on her decision.

I promised her the full support of the both of us, monetarily, militarily, and politically. I do hope I was not overstepping my bound in doing so.

She heads for the lands of the Bann Roland as I write this, she must reach there soon, I recommended she stop in Highpoint to meet you and discuss the situation with you first.

Let us pray she can save us, for if your young house falls, mine will surely fall with it.

Justice and mercy,

Bann Robert Margrave.

(Now you decide what she does, does she stop in Highpoint? Does she travel on to Bann Roland immediately? Does she not help us at all and instead have massive orgies at her party camp? All up to, my friend.)

Nothing of note happens for a while, leaving Fenros stuck in anticipation and worry. When he receives the letter, he is surprised at its contents. And triples the guard for the Wardens arrival. When she does finally arrive, as was expected, the situation is discussed. Felros supports the promise Robert made. The Warden, however, is not what the rumours make her to be, she is still but a young girl and evidently inquires as to what she can do.

Felros, recommends she assassinate the leader of the Red Falcons, though hesitant at first, when Felros - exaggeratively - explains the crimes of the mercenary group, she seems more eager, and departs the next day, with a hefty bag of 30 sovereigns as a thank you from the new Bann.

Robert,

I am content with the outcome thus far, the Warden is supporting our cause, and could be a powerful ally in the future, I hope for the best of this ploy. She aims to assassinate the mercenary leader, so Bann Roland will lack the military might to besiege us.

Should she fail, however, our fates will certainly be sealed.

Honor to the end,

Bann Felros Rohyr.

The anticipation is killing Robert, he can hardly bear it. So he tells the Seneschal to keep him busy at all times. He is throw into random meetings with peasants and merchants and soldiers with no preparation. Nothing comes of it save for some better conversational skills for Robert. When he finally receives the letter from his friend Fenros he leaves his conversation with a dockworker and heads to his study, at a near sprint, to read it's contents.

After he replies to the letter a strange thing happens. Bann Roland's son arrive in Bulwark for the meeting planned weeks ago, Robert takes this an opportunity and prepares the great hall with all the grandeur which was there at the Warden's arrival, except this time he brings his guards in to line the walls. He makes small talk with the heir to Appland and even discusses possible trade routes in the futures of the Bannorn's. But he does not forget the reason why he asked the boy there. He pleads with him to talk his father out of his current course of war with the house of Rohyr. Yet the boy refuses to budge and supports his father fully, much to Robert's disappointment. As the boy leaves he mentions how he would love to establish trade routes with the North Hills, "if they are still here."

Although he could not sway Bann Roland's son, he was still gladdened by the outcome. At this pace, it would seem that the alliance between houses Margrave and Rohyr was still seeking peace through diplomatic means while the assassination was being carried out, and therefore could not have ordered it. At least, that's what he hoped.

Fenros,

I am glad to hear that she met you well and that she still supports our cause. I agree, she is yet to be molded into the hero of legend that Wardens are meant to be, but she has still done much. She brought a petty and warring Orzammar to peace and chose their new king. For her actions the Dwarves promised her an army unrivaled, that must count for something.

I hope she is able and up to the task to which you sent her to do. I will prepare my forces for defense. Should she fail, I would hope you evacuate your people to my lands and we can hold them off, together. Less territory, more soldiers. At least until we could give you your holdings back. But I prefer not to think of these things.

Justice and mercy,

Bann Robert Margrave.

Felros spent the time honing his own martial skills in combat, often training when under stress. All important business was left to the Seneschal, much to the mans dismay. Eventually, news begins spreading that the Red Falcons mysteriously abandoned Bann Roldan's forces, needless to say Felros slept well that night.

Now realizing that his holdings were safe for the time being, Felros uses his army to eliminate the bandits within his lands. Whilst also using them to escort local merchants safely around his land. His garrison is abruptly emptied but wealth and happiness increase somewhat.

Robert,

The plan was a success, and has been better than we hoped, Bann Roldan's troop morale and land happiness have taken a deadly hit, and the Red Falcons have deserted his army. It is most likely he has wasted considerable wealth amassing an invasion force, one he cannot use thank the Maker.

I thank you greatly for your assistance in this endeavor, and I am delighted to announce of my preparations to travel to Bulwark within the week. I hope to meet you - and your sister - in the flesh soon enough.

Honor to the end,

Bann Felros Rohyr.

(Oh my god, your name is Felros not Fenros. xD MAH BAD!)

The seneschal brings news to Robert that Bann Roland's support has left him, he was so happy he hugged the seneschal. He quickly released the hug and they never spoke of it again.

With this knowledge in mind he dropped most of the defensive forces, leaving them at normal rates. Moving them instead to defend the roads for trade and, also, to prepare a force for combat.

Robert laid out the streets for Felros as he did for the warden, with tapestries from the houses and and shining soldiers on the streets.

Name: Canaan

Nationality: Possibly Anderfels

Age: Mid Twenties?

Occupation: Drifter

Canaan can be considered little more than an enigma to everyone who has met him. His age, where he comes from, even whether Canaan is his real name are all unknown and he usually less than willing to give answers. He appears as a tall middle aged man with Black Hair, sickly pale skin, blood shot eyes with darkened lips and circles under his eyes, but do not let his looks deceive you, his skill with a sword is unquestionable and he has two which he wields without fear.
