Well, good day to you, total and complete strangers. Welcome to my thread. As you can imagine this is themed around one and one fandom only, Mass Effect Dragon Age.I've unfortunately gotten lost AO3, and that has spurred a need like no other for a RP set in this universe. Please note, this will be entirely filled with OCs, alternate timelines, and possibly some content that isn't as romanticized as you think. Please read through all of this before hitting me up. Now onto the show~​

  WHAT THIS RP IS ABOUT

  • ♛ So, just a forewarning, a lot of the fics on AO3 I've been reading are about what comes after the hero saves the day. Yes, it's been very angsty and very sad, but I assure you I'm capable of light-heartedness. I've written up three character sheets, brief ones, for the three heroes of the different games. The idea is that these settings happen after the main campaign, and the DLC, and deal with the years of the aftermath that the games have glossed over--or will gloss over in case of the Inquisition. So, if you have not played one of the games or gotten through the DLC, you probably should avoid reading about that character.
    
    So, wow, that makes it sound like everything in this RP is about me. No, not necessarily. The idea is that in this lull of the afterwards, someone needs their help for something important, big, or as world-shaking as the previous events. That someone will be you. This story will be about your character. What you want out of the story can be as grandiose or as small as you want it to be. It's your story. Your character, for some reason or another, seeks my character for their help and finds what happens after someone's story ends. It's supposed to be character growth for the both of us.
    
    Just a note, the characters will share similarities because I do have this type in my mind that I want to play, but I didn't want to limit the story (i.e. you love DA2 over DAO or Inquisition, or you've never played the earlier games). So, I'll probably stick to only doing one, or two if the story is different enough, of these.
  
  YE OLDE BASICS

  • ♛ +18 please. Sorry, I'm older than that, and it'll be awkward. If you respond to this, I'm assuming you are, and I will drop like you like a hot potato if I find out.
  • ♛ Post once a week, at least. A few times is optimal.
  • ♛ I'm ditch friendly, but don't string me out with one post a month.
  • ♛ I would put the level of this RP at [ADVANCED], but that being said I prefer quality over quantity. Some scenes will require less writing, and some scenes will require more. Like a good RP buddy of mine used to say: "treat posting like a skirt, long enough to cover all the vital parts, but short enough to keep it enticing."
  • ♛ I only do [MxM] or [MxF] with me playing the male role. This is mostly due to the fact, I have OCs made, and I want to play them. That being said, we could definitely double, [OCxOC], but I want to start out with this character.
  • ♛ I would prefer a lot of OOC planning. I've laid some basic groundwork, but most of it is to bolster my character with some story options (which are entirely optional) for the RP. So, we'll need to build your character up as well. Because this is a joint effort. I don't run the show. I don't like "whatever you want to do" responses, or responses that give me ultimatums. Let's work on this together. I assure you, I'm fairly lenient with things.
  • ♛ Romance is fine. I actually enjoy it in my RPs. I understand wanting to keep things platonic, though. I leave it up to your discretion.
  • ♛ Finally, I'll RP in RPN, PMs, GoogleDocs, and Discord. I prefer Discord, because I can access that anywhere, but I understand if you don't have it/like it. The only thing I won't do is emails. I have a tendency to forget them.
  
  THINGS I ENJOY

  • ♛ To be entirely honest, if it is not on my below list of things I do not tolerate in RPs, I'll consider it. This does not mean I'll say yes. I just find that what I enjoy is wide and varied, and it's easier to form mutual interests off of discussing it with my partner.
  • ♛ The thing I truly love, though, are imperfect characters. I have a lot of RP experience under my belt. I've grown tired of characters who are perfect inside and out. So, as you'll notice, my character will have obvious flaws in both departments. I enjoy characters that are unattractive by RP standards. And I'm not saying people who embody these traits are unattractive, but you have to have seen the types of characters that always end up in roleplays. I'm guilty of it myself. So, I want to play a character who would look and act the way that their life has given them to be. They'll let their experiences mold them, and their lifestyle show on them. I encourage you to do the same, but you don't have to. Just know, I will not change my characters. Sorry. Not sorry.

  • ♛ According to RPN's rules, the following is not allowed in any explicit sense, but I also don't like it as a) a character wishing/wanting for it or b) implications that has happened/or will happen in graphic detail denoting that the character enjoys it: Rape, Physical and Emotional Abuse, Use of Bodily Fluids, Slavery, Incest, Infliction of Pain, Bestiality, or Age Play. Also, if you have a trigger, please let me know. I have a lot of crass jokes, and I don't want to accidentally say something that would cause you feel unsafe.
  • ♛ General things that wouldn't work in this RP: Furries, Mpreg, Realistic Pictures (cosplay is a road we can visit when we get there), Animu, Canon Characters (with the exception of them existing in the background), FxF (apologies, I'm extremely rusty with this and so it would be sad and unfulfilling for you), and Murderhobos.
  • ♛ But most of all... NO MARY SUES OR GARY STUS.

  I would like to tell you that heroes go on in greatness. I would like to tell you that they do not pause, that they do not slow, and they do not lose their valor, power, and comrades. I would like to tell you that. But time doesn't know exactly how to handle heroes. They peak and then they wane into obscurity. As long as they do not rear their head again in betrayal, anger or darkness, we remember the last great thing they do--we remember what they looked like in their youth and their victory. What we do not remember is what happens afterward. How the cost of a decision, that seemed so important at the time, settles on them. How they sink into the folds of a history book, only to be spoken of story or song.​
  
  
  
  ♛ THE WARDEN

  Ansem Cousland, Teryn Cousland, and Warden Commander over the Vigil's keep. A man well known for ending the Fifth Blight and the Darkspawn scourage that came after it. He placed Alistair and Anora on the throne of Ferelden, sealed a dark deal with the with Morrigan, let Bhelen rule the Orzammar, brought peace to the elves and werewolves, and kept Arl Eamon alive. His name will not be forgotten anytime soon, but maybe time has forgotten exactly where he is. Vigil's Keep they'd say, and they'd be correct. But no longer the pinnacle of success, but no more another monument and military outpost. No longer do his friends of old take quarter with him. Many have moved on, and a few have passed. He's alone, much like a guardian statue overlooking the entrance to a tomb. Ever vigilant but ever tied to the earth underneath it.
  
  ♛ THE CHAMPION

  Roald Hawk, the Champion of Kirkwall, and its brief Viscount. He defeated the Arishok and drove the qunari from Kirkwall, and he saved the same city from a devastating war between the mages and the Templars. Unfortunately, in the doing so he aided the mage terrorist Anders in blowing up the Chantry. While Hawke may have saved Kirkwall, his actions led to the fire of war spreading across the Free Marches. He tried to do right by the city by attempting to take up leadership where it had fallen through. Unfortunately, the opinion was so decided against him, he left for the countryside of the Free Marches and hasn't been seen since. There are rumors, but they're quite costly.
  
  ♛ THE INQUISITOR - PLOT TAKEN

  Omun Lavellan, rumored Herald of Andraste, Dalish ex-Inquisitor, Sealer of the Breach, and Defeater of Corephyeus. An ex-Dalish spy, and Hunter, sent by his Keeper to look over Mage and Templar gathering, and unfortunate bearer of the mark. He managed to bring peace to the raging lands, recruit numerous allies and factions, align the Orelsian government to the Inquisition's bidding, save the Grey Wardens, and refute a goddess's blessing. Yet, for all that he was stripped of his position and his left arm. He was just a Dalish elf, after all, and the faces of the Inquisition had to be ones that the people felt no alieness too. His clan destroyed in the events leading to this moment, Omun had nowhere to call home. He is said to currently dwell somewhere in Orlais, working as a broker of secrets.

  Here is where the characters are, and a brief blurb about whatever you wish to bring into the story. My characters' stories happen after the Inquisition, meaning some characters have aged, while others are younger (I tried to represent that in my portraits.) They'll exist in their own timeline separate from one another. Different variations of one of these characters dying and disappearing may happen in other storylines than their own. The current year is 9:45, 15 years after the Fifth Blight started.

  BASIC APPEARANCE: Ansem wears his typical Grey Warden armor, older but kept in good shape with polish and stitching. His brown hair is lightning around the temples and into his well-trimmed beard. While he seems a bit young for that, one might assume it is the life he's lived or the fact that he's a warden. As the years pass his pale blue eyes only get paler, and he's found himself quite challenged in darker places. Yet, most of the time he just tends to records and words. Occasionally, he'll attend a Joining, but he's not head out onto the battlefield in a long time--and it shows. He's of average height, with broad shoulders, thick biceps, strong chest, but he has a bit of a softness in his middle from sitting all day. Still, he's kept his sword and shield skills honed, even if he isn't out there tearing through droves and droves of darkspawn.

  BASIC APPEARANCE: Roald Hawke is probably the most changed to his historical counterpart. In some far off place, in some small village, he lives there tending to the sick, even though he makes a fuss about doing it, during the day, and then drinking himself into blackness at night. He doesn't really take to wearing mage robes, quite content on a basic tunic, pants, and boots. He's long since retired his massive staff. He keeps his black hair trimmed short, and for someone that has given up, he keeps his beard quite neat. The red markings on his brow still pop against his pale gray eyes. His nose looks recently broken, but his lips are still handsomely quirked into a shit-eating grin. Unfortunately, he's gone to seed, looking more like a well-fed knight than the illustrious Hawke of old. Still, he can hold his own in a fight, especially if magic is involved.

  BASIC APPEARANCE: Omun is mildly shorter than most elven males, sporting dark brown hair cut short and pale hazel eyes. His Vallaslin grows weaker by the years, it was something he once wore proudly, but now he hides with fancy hats. His left arm is missing and he straps it against his form. As a longbow expert, he now uses a crossbow and works his body to handle it. As such, he's probably one of the stoutest elves one might ever see. Still, that hasn't hampered his ability to slip in and out of places unseen, and in more recent years he's created a "base" of sorts in which he purchases and sells secrets--mostly the latter. As such he's leaned away from traditional Dalish garb into more striking outfits.

  • ♛ I didn't want to create an entirely new tab, because I want this to be brief:
  • ♛ I truly don't have a preference as to what you play gender, race, age, class, etc. I'm actually more interested to see what people come up with than I am to play my character. I mean, I'm excited to play them, but alongside your character.
  • ♛ The only thing I ask is that they be above 18 and aren't canon. THAT BEING SAID, about the latter thing, if you want your character to have taken the place of a canon character within the game, we can make that work. Honestly, it just matters how and at what level they resemble said character. But I've seen that work quite well in RPs before. I've also seen it backfire as people make clones.
  • ♛ As much as your character's personal storyline that leads to the inciting incident of picking my character up, you can have a vague idea about it or no idea. We can work on it together. I assure you that I'm not making you handle the entire plot. As I said previously, this is about what happens after the rise of heroes, and it's about your character rising as a hero themselves. I hope that sounds as awesome to someone as it does to me.

Possible Plot Ideas

I realized, awfully belatedly, that maybe I should throw some ideas out here as I seem to be relying on you to form a character from a spark in your mind. To be honest, I know some people have pre-created DA characters they like using in various RPs *stares at own Hawke*, but I figured I'd throw some inciting incidents out that could be useful for forming a character idea. By all means, you do not have to use these, they're just possibilities. Also, these are open for all characters, not just one. Feel free to oddly mix and match if you will. I'll add and remove as time goes on.

• ♛ Hello Darkspawn My Old Friend: Entire villages are vanishing in the middle of the night. They're small, but surrounding villages and commonfolk swear that they saw people there just yesterday. There are hints that darkspawn are the culprits, but it seems odd given that some of the villages have no connection to dwarven tunnels. If it is darkspawn, where are they coming from, and what are they doing? If it's not, well that might be more frightening.
• ♛ Assassin, Assassin, Blood Mage: Something strange is going on in the Orlesian courts. People are disappearing, only to reappear a little off-kilter. Orders are being sent out that have no source. Party-goers are forgetting entire nights. And more urgently, an important Ferelden diplomat has been killed at a very prestigious noble's house. They're pleading innocent, but the Fereldens are calling for a swift death. Even if foul play is suspected, something far more sinister is at play.
• ♛Why'd it Have to be Dragons: Unsurprisingly, a dragon is terrorizing a town, surprisingly it has demands. An elf by the name of Whisper accompanies the dragon and states that if his demands aren't met then his beloved friend and fire-breathing monster will lay waste to the town. No one has really ever heard of dragon tamers, and honestly Whisper's demands have been odd and out of place. It's believed that this a little more than a scam. Something sinister is at play here, and may not only be taking advantage of various towns but of Whisper as well.
