Questiony thing, are there any regional racial things to be aware of on this island? I'm thinking my elf character would have been spending time away from any sort of cohesive elven community, but also probably not going where they are inviting hatred or some such.

A few of the rougher neighborhoods are terse with elves, but generally, they are looked at as knowledgeable, but keeping to themselves due to the lifespan differences.

Elves can be found in most areas of the island, as the cultures are pretty homogenized on Tarsil.

This is mostly due to the fact that 85% of the population on Tarsil is due to shipwrecks and magical accidents. 5% of the inhabitants are descendants of the founders and those they brought with them, while the other 10% came to the island intentionally.

Those who care about such things trace their family trees and lines to the arrival of said persons onto the island and, even though the races tend to marry amongst themselves, you may find gnomes and elves living in the same block as dwarfs, half-orcs, and even a few pureblood orcs that have 'civilized' themselves. Areas are usually separated by income and lifestyle, not by racial descent, though this occasionally varies.

The less civil groups tend toward secluded areas such as forests, the deep southwestern plains and the lands in and under the mountain ranges, where the kings were content to let them survive if they didn't cause too many issues with the larger cities, but bandit groups and the less law abiding citizens do tend to wander about acting like they own the place and occasionally pull it off.

Given that Quanah could quite easily Combat Train Patamon by taking 10 on Handle Animal, would you allow me to have him do this before the game begins?

Yes.

Your Wisdom modifier is +2, so you may include three tricks for him to know as well. Two for your Wisdom modifier, one from [the Druid Animal Companion setup at a -3 for being a Ranger].

Hmm...

Every game I've ever been in, you get to add your Wisdom modifier to your starting animal's tricks total.

It may be a house rule though.

So many rules... it gets confusing sometimes.

I don't mind either way. The important thing for me is having him start combat trained, the +1 trick helps and the extra +Wismod is just icing on the cake.

I have a question I should have asked long ago. How are we going to determine our HP, do we roll or do you want us to take the max value?

I assumed standard method: max at 1st, rolled thereafter.

EDIT: WIP sections of Quanah are finished.

Trying to decide on a rogue talent.. anyone have a suggestion? Here's my short list: black market connections, snap shot, sniper's eye, or weapon focus

Backstory is starting to come together in my brain. Hopefully will have time to type it out today. :)

Black Market Connections can have potentially nasty repercussions if the DM wants to be evil enough, and would require you to put ranks in Diplomacy (of which you have none at the moment) - it could be quite useful, but I'm not terribly sure its the most useful.

Snap Shot is a one-trick pony. Not worth your time, in my opinion.

Sniper's Eye is pretty useless, comparatively speaking, as Improved Precise Shot, the Shadow Strike talent, and a Seeking weapon all will give you the same benefit.

Weapon Focus (through Weapon Training I assume) isn't half bad, and probably is your best choice of the four.

Yeah.. I've been leaning in that direction.. Helps make up for the wizard BAB somewhat and takes care of a prereq for Arcane Archer if I end up wanting to splash that.

If I were you I wouldn't hesitate then. +1 to hit is nothing to sneeze at when you'll be somewhere between bad and mediocre BAB progression and you plan to do a fair amount of weapon-based attacks. Getting more options for character directions later in the game is just icing on the cake.

From an RP standpoint I agree, but strictly from a player-paranoia standpoint I'd say heeeeeeeeellllll naaaawwwwww.

I'd like to remind there is a lawful good character in the group who might slightly disagree with that sort of crowd.

Yeah, I fixed that. I was originally thinking he'd be Chaotic Neutral, but I think he's probably closer to Good than dead-center on the Good-Evil axis, even if it's only a little bit.

Quanah is now finished and ready for your approal.
