[Dracoheim: Tears of Hinnom] [Dracoheim: Tears of Hinnom] The Drums of War

Ker'ion

Primordial of Abstract Logic
As Madame Eon, Parker, Freya, and Serjas near the battlefield, there appear to be hundreds of zombies, being controlled by three hooded wraiths. The looks of hatred on their faces seem to be focused not just generally on the group of heroes gathered on the hilltop, but on a three-headed beast that stands ready in their mist.

As you look at the heroes, there seems to be a ward around the edges of the hill to repel the undead, though a golden aura has augmented it's power and the undead are being destroyed as they march on it, though not all are falling to dust, showing that the aura is growing weaker.

Lisandra and Shyto notice from their hilltop perch that the wraiths seem to have focused their anger on the chimera, which Shyto knows to be Cale'Navar. The compatriots that surround you are Leader Portwright, Galesh, Ed, the bardic drummer, a human cleric, two rangers with bows ready (one seems to be heavily magical), and a trio of identical women (one dressed as a sorcerer, one as a rogue, and one as a druid). Tzal seems to be missing from the group.

Lisandra does check over her shoulder and surveys the surrounding battlefield.

[dice]2220[/dice]

Once she has done that, she begins to prepare her next spells, pulling components from her pouch and flipping through her spell book.

[/QUOTE]All of the other players need to reroll initiative (and those new to this battlefield need to chose their placement on the field).
The hilltop is to the southwest, the zombie horde is moving east to west, and the wraiths (which you cannot get behind without a
DC: 35 Stealth check) are at the far east end of the field. Unless specifically chosen, you are coming in from the northwest, the direction of Vinhold.

Parker instinctively crouches for cover scanning the field, especially the wraiths and the beast.

Parker may have a limited ability to close on the enemy position with Vanish, but it would leave her pretty screwed when it wore off, would probs be good for one sneak attack though.

1st action will be to cast mage armor on herself.

Shyto takes the stock of the field as the situation changes. He remembers his training from his father as he prepares for the new assault.

[dice]2230[/dice]

Madame Eon draws her wand and follows the rest of the party into righteous battle

[dice]2232[/dice]

"Hoooooolllllllyyyyyyyyy cr....."

That was a lot of undead. She had expected a few skirmishes, not face a complete army. Oh well, time to get to work.

Freya armed herself and got ready for the uphill battle awaiting.

[dice]2238[/dice]

Serjas was pretty much out of his depth here, normally he'd just shape shift into one of the enemy and pretend to be one of them until he got what he wanted or got away.

His bow already knocked he drew an arrow back and readied himself.

[dice]2291[/dice]

At the call of one of the wraiths, the zombies continue their march forward, pounding at the magical barrier protecting the hilltop, oblivious to the onlookers, while one of the wraiths readies a bow and the other grasps a strange claw-like contraption.

[dice]2317[/dice]

[dice]2318[/dice]

[dice]2319[/dice]The zombies, being controlled by Krisin, go on a 15, as they have no Initiative modifier.

This puts the Initiative order as

Krisin, Gilded Tears (22)

Freya (19)

Lisandra (16)

Zombies (15)

Parker (7)

Shyto (6)

Fashin, the Hunter (botch)

Taladria of the Gosamer Gears (botch)

Madame Eon: rerolling next round

Serjas: rerolling next round

Krisin glows with a putrid green energy, spinning through the crowd with an almost unearthly grace as he chants rhythmically.

As he lays a hand on one of the zombies,
an arc of lightning the same shade of green bursts forth from it's chest, hitting two other zombies and all three begin glowing with a faint, pulsing, putrid green light.

The situation was pretty ugly as far as Freya could tell. These zombies were obviously under control from those three wraiths which meant those were her priority targets. Of course, getting to them, what with the army or undead, was quite another matter. All she knew was that they weren't going to do it with just them four.

"We need to regroup with the army. Stay near me."

She remained by Madam Eon and escorted her to wards the besieged army.

It doesn't take Lisandra long to assess the situation and her resources. Opting to be conservative with her abilities, she steps behind anyone in armor, so as to not be in the path of the melee fighters. Selecting her components carefully, she ignores the two bottles of Drow Sleeping Poison in her pouch, as they are utterly useless against zombies. Similarly, she simply lets her hand crossbow hang, unloaded, at her hip as it's pathetic range and damage would be less than useless. Taking her position in the middle of the group she simply waits as the horde crashes against the barrier. She is content to save her power till she can strike a critical target rather than waste them on the minions.

Unless spoken to, she is calmly silent.

Moaning impassively, the zombies lurch in a vague semblance of an attacking army, being repelled by the ward, about one in six falling after touching the ward, staying gratefully dead ( ).

While dozens of the
zombies continue to be repelled by the ward versus undead, most of the zombies seem to be turning toward the wraiths and moving away.

The
enhanced zombies begin their march toward the ward, shambling toward different sides of the ward, their 'war cry' of "MURRRRRRRAAAAAGGGGGHHHH!!!!" resounding across the battlefield as they move toward the hilltop.

For reference, there are approximately 300 zombies, plus or minus a dozen or so.

Parker followed the paladin. Her words had snapped her back to the tactical realities of the situation. She takes a moment to cast a measure of protection on herself before moving on.

Casting Mage Armor on herself, should be good for 4 hours

Shyto takes a quick look at the situation. Remembering back to his years of training under the Vanaran Warrior Monks who trained him.... Shyto remembers a saying that his Masters used to say. "It is better to make the enemy do the work, while you strike with ease, focus, and precision." Shyto to Jingo in ape "I know you are weak my friend. I want you find shelter in the trees. Raise alarm if danger comes at my back."

Shyto then using his last 1st level spell recites the words his other Master taught him. Feeling the ground surge with energy from him the plants began to grow. 50ft in front of Shyto, and in a 40ft radius centered in front of Shytos position the land becomes entangled. (DC 15 reflex)

Shyto then places his staff in the ground in front of him and readies his sling to slowed opponents before him.

A haunting melody floats across the battlefield, building to a vicious crescendo as a sparkling blaze flares from one of the wraiths' outstretched hand, flying at the group and exploding where the cleric is standing while the other fires a lightning arrow at the cleric (AC: 19).

[dice]2460[/dice]

[dice]2461[/dice]

[dice]2462[/dice]

[dice]2463[/dice]As both spells slam into the human cleric, he falters, but doesn't fall, looking dazed from the bright flash of fire that left his hair singed and smoking, a shocked look on his face. (The cleric has 20 HP left out of 35).

Madame Eon closely observes the battlefield and follows Freya into the fray. As she extends her wand she begins chanting in an unknown tongue and extends her will across the tapestry of creation summoning an Elemental of Positive Energy into being by her side "Go forth and destroy the undead" She commands before it moves off.

Casting Summon Monster II to summon a small elemental of positive energy

Serjas takes aim at the nearest Wraith as he tries to move 30 feet closer to one and looses an arrow at it. (if any one is attacking a wraith already that's the one Im aiming at.)

[dice]2632[/dice]

[dice]2633[/dice]

50% miss chance, as your bow is not magical and you're firing at an incorporeal creature.

[dice]2637[/dice]

The Wraith nearest to the glowing zombies shrieks as the arrow impales him, turning his fury towards Belial and charging at him, a ghastly blade dripping with baleful energy in one hand and a dagger in the other.

Krisin, Gilded Tears: AC 18, HP -10

Freya didn't stop marching all the way to the besieged army. Not even the large group of them standing n between. As the she was near to them, Freya muttered a prayer as she held her symbol in hand.

"The darkness encroaches on this land and its inhabitant. Oh,Drakael, please shine your light on this land and purge the darkness that resides around us."

All of a sudden, a powerful light shined off the symbol, searing all those undead near her.

ooc: channeling positive energy.

Assessing her resources, available spells, and options, Lisandra quickly concludes her best option is to save her more powerful abilities for the real threats, the wraiths. She lets her spell book drop to her hip where it hangs from it's leather tie to her corset's belts. She then closes her eyes, reaches deep within herself, and draws upon the innate magic of her bloodlines. After a few subtle gestures, and a quietly uttered chant, Lisandra feels slightly empowered. She then takes her hand crossbow off the other side of her belts and loads a bolt into the mechanism.

Lisandra casts Divine Favor from her spell-like abilities list upon herself.

As the zombies begin moving toward the groups, they claw and bounce off of the ward, falling to the ground, about 2/3 of those reaching the barrier getting back up after hitting the circle.

Drawing on the wisdom of his Masters Shyto knows that slowing down an enemy's flow is crucial. That was accomplished with the entangling plants. Next it's best to strike using the advantage one has. Using the surrounding shields effect Shtyo loads a sling stone and will launch it at the nearest zombie. Hoping to fell a few before the melee begins. Shtyo hurls the smooth stone through the air towards his intended prey.

edit- Shyto feels his energy surge within him as he twirls his stone. He takes careful aim remembering the training and youthful days hunting small prey. Shyto draws from all the fear around him, and redirects it into his stone, to lose his fears for his home into stopping this threat.

(If crit hits work on the zombie then damage still needs to be 2x)

Parker saw Serjas's arrow strike the nearest wraith. Plan regroup may be harder now.. But if they could bring this necromancer down maybe it would make up for it.

From nearby cover she fired a follow up shot at the wraith and moved with the other archer.
