Drakon Island is the source of all the world’s magic. It is protected by the dragons and their riders. Each dragon has a magical ability (illusion magic, fire magic, water magic, plant magic, etc.) but they only discovered their magic when they are fully bonded to a human and when that human dies they lose their magic. Riders are recruited to the island to join Draco Academy when they are eleven years old and graduate when they are eighteen years of age. They are each matched to a dragon and when they have bonded, the riders gain a patch of scales on their cheeks in the same color as their dragon’s scale. They have regular classes but also classes in riding, combat, and magic.
Five years ago, an evil mage named Lamia tried to drain the island of its magic. A dragon rider named Mateo and your character, his dragon, battled Lamia and won but at the cost of Mateo’s life and your character’s magic.
Five years later, Mateo’s daughter, Louise or Lou is invited to join the academy. The island is a secret to the modern world and her family had been told that he died in a plane crash. She is shocked when she discovered that her father had been a dragon rider and is even more shocked when the island matches her with her father’s dragon.
Lou and your dragon character must learn to work together and bond, especially when signs of Lamia returning began to pop up and he wants revenge.
