They met by chance, each trying to do a job and yet... Things went really well. Well... Not the mission. That was a disaster. Their target had gotten away, her dress was certainly ruined, but at least there was a mutual interest in each other. Phone numbers (at least to a couple of burner phones) were exchanged with plans to meet up again sometime. It would be good cover to have a date or two. Being too reclusive would only make one more suspicious. It was too bad they had to make up an entire double life rather than just being honest with each other.
Things were going alright with balancing their jobs and seeing each other. Sure, sometimes one would make up an excuse as to why they were late and mildly disheveled because of a mission, but they were truly beginning to build a bond. At work things were a bit harder. It was becoming increasingly often that as one would move in for the kill someone would be right there, either getting in the way or thwarting their plan. Usually they could salvage the mission, cursing that other agent in the process, not realizing the other agent was the same person they have a date with next Friday! It was interesting to hear one vent to the other about this person getting in their way without giving too many details when they'd have nights together.
Mission after mission the same things seemed to keep happening. One ready to poison a target's drink the other diverts the target's attention to something else entirely. One makes it to the CEO's office only to see the other already climbing out the window with the documents they were there to steal. One starts a fire, the other puts it out. Round and round they go until finally a new mission is received, to kill that meddling agent. It seemed impossible with how little information about this agent was given. YC was ready to finish this whole debacle, to get rid of this person and finally have things quiet down. Still, tracking them had been next to impossible until there was finally a slip up at the docks.
Her cover was blown and a shootout had begun. Well, this just got easier. Maybe he could just let them deal with it, after all she'd already taken a bullet to the shoulder before trying to extract herself. She'd managed to shake them off her trail as she turned down an alley, trying to get to a safehouse, the blood loss making it increasingly difficult to think until finally she collapsed, unable to continue. At first it seemed simple. All he had to do was walk up and one bullet to the head would end all of this, but as he prepared to do exactly that something caught his attention. A familiar necklace catching the dim light, it looked so much like the one he'd given MC... It couldn't be could it? They couldn't truly be enemies right? Could he really kill her? How much did he actually know about her? How much of their dates had been lies? If he saved her now what next?
The general idea I'm looking for is two spies, rival or not, start falling for each other while struggling to balance their real lives and keeping their cover trying to date each other. Eventually it all comes to a head, the two battling it out and cover is blown. How can they trust each other after hiding such a big secret? If they are actually enemies does one convert to the other's side? Do they begin to work together? All fun things to consider.
