The Quiet Enigma
The hands of a nearby clock show the time to be a quarter till midnight. The cold air is lit up with lights that cover the walls and nearby corners. White. Blue. Red. Green. Repeat. The time is the Christmas holiday. The year is 2014.
The streets are empty, with the exception of the occasional small creature scurrying across the ground, searching for leftovers. The streets lay dormant, the lights in houses turned off. The street seem quiet. Almost too quiet. Suddenly, a screeching noise fills the quiet streets.
A blue, dusty, old London police box sits in the corner of a lightly colored alleyway. The box hidden behind dumpsters filled with brown boxes and plastic. This strange addition to the alleyway that is out of its time. The door of the police box is slowly opened from the inside by a slender hand. Fingers grasping the edge of the door as a blur of red hair follows. The red hair falls to the side to expose the face of a young woman looking around. Her gray eyes glance from side to side. A furrowed brow signalizes confusion on the woman's face.
"Where are you hiding, little monster?"
The soft voice of the woman echoed lightly in the enclosed walls of the alleyway.
A sudden crashing sound fills the holiday air. The woman's eyes dart to the opening in the alleyway. Her feet rush her out to the street before she could blink. As she reached the street, she came across the source of the crash. A blue flashing light came from small crater located across the street in a nearby park.
"Aha! There you are!"
