Do edited-in mentions work?

If you edit a post and add mentions, will they work?

They will create the link, but will not send the player an alert.

For example, I'm about to tag you in an edit to this post, and it won't send you an alert.

Yup. The only notification I got was you replying because I watched this thread. No alerts.
