Fantasy Divinity Unbound Humanoid Races (WIP)

ChoShadow

That One Fear In My Enemy's Eyes
The Humanoid Races

The humanoids were created by the Father and Mother of All not long after the Creation of Earth was completed.

The humanoids are all different from one another. They prefer to live in different biomes, have varying cultures and languages, and they all have different views on what their purpose in life is.

In no particular order, these are the humanoid races, as well as details about them which are important to know for this RP:

* Humans

Humans are the single most populated race on the planet, occupying almost every landmass and having created the most numerous myriad of cultures, religions, and societies known to all humanoids. However, it is this diversity and widely ranging myriad of lifestyles and opinions which makes the humans so volatile as a species, and thus they have been the instigator in more wars throughout the Earth’s history than any other race.

Despite this, the humans have almost as many talents and trades as they do cultures and cities around the world. They have traders, ranchers, farmers, scientists, mages, scholars, warriors, thieves, rogues, wanderers and vagabonds, teachers, martial artists, archers, sportsmen, leaders, politicians, etc, etc.

When it comes to magic, humans are slow learners. Their bodies were designed by the Father and Mother of All to naturally repel mana, so learning to overcome that design and become a mage is incredibly difficult and takes many, many years. It can be done, but it’s easily the single hardest life choice any human will ever make with respect to their future.

It takes a human being an average of up to ten years to learn to overcome their body’s natural repelling of mana. Take note please of the phrase “overcome their body’s natural repelling of mana.” This means that this is only the beginning. They are overcoming their body’s repelling of mana, not learning to guide it through their bodies yet. That come next.

Another five to seven years later, they will have learned how to guide mana through their bodies. To learn how to harness mana and begin using it for magical purposes takes another five to eight years minimum. And finally the practice of utilizing that magical power for feats of magic takes the rest of their natural lives.

So if you’ve been keeping track, that’s a minimum average of approximately 20 years just to learn how to utilize the power of magic, and that’s not counting how long it takes them to develop that magical power and use it for any kind of significant purpose such as offensive or defensive spells and incantations. In order to become seasoned mages of any level of renown or worth takes decades of practice and application. By the time a human mage has truly come into their own and is considered “powerful,” they’re already in their 50’s which is only around 10-15 years away from the end of their life span.

Indeed the most powerful human mags are often in their twilight years.

* Elves

Elves are the second most populated race, consisting of three basic categories: High Elves, Dark Elves, and (normal) Elves.

The High Elves, while the single most magically gifted humanoid race in existence, are the rarest of all humanoids occupying less than 0.002% of the total Elven population. They exist in few settlements, and often times attempt to pass themselves off as regular Elves to avoid unnecessary conflict and/or nefarious goals such as slave and sex trade.

High Elves are easily identified by sharp-eyed observers for their horizontally pointed ears and naturally perfectly clear skin. As well, they often wear small metallic coverings on the tops of their ears as a cultural representation of their specific clan.

Being the most magically gifted race, it takes barely four months to learn to allow mana to flow freely through their bodies since they are always receptive to mana and only a few more months to begin learning how to harness and control it to generate magical power.

High Elves live the longest life spans of any humanoid as well, averaging just over 20,000 years when they remain healthy.

Dark Elves are not as magically gifted, but are blessed with enhanced vision and natural geometrical calculation which is part of what makes them the most deadly archers in the world, bar none.

They are identified by their typically darker hair colors, ranging from various shades of dirty blonde all the way to black, and the fact that they typically have a darker and more naturally sun-kissed skin tone. Their ears also typically point straight up.

The Dark Elves typically live an average of 10,000 years, about half their High Elven counterparts.

Elves are the most common among the Elven races. They are typically fair skinned and have blonde to dirty blonde hair, though other natural and lighter shades of brown have been observed. Their ears typically point up and slightly back.

Elves have higher magical output than Dark Elves, but are less reliable as archers due to the fact that they do not have the same kind of naturally enhanced eyesight or geometrical calculations. And while they’re not as magically gifted as the High Elves by any stretch, they are tougher and typically have better soldiers.

Elves live an average of between 10,000-12,500 years when they remain healthy.

* Dwarves

Dwarves are every bit the creatures they are in just about every other fantasy RP and story out there: Stout, stubborn, and damn near obsessed with Gold, gems, and other such things.

They live in isolation in the mountains, building massive fortifications within the mountains themselves and entire castles and cities as well underground.

They have no magical potential whatsoever, but are the finest blacksmiths in the world. No other humanoid can hold a candle, no matter how long they’ve tried their hand at the art, to a Dwarven blacksmith or weapon/armor crafter.

* Faeries

These are not the tiny sprites of most other fantasy stories. They are fully human sized beings with insectoid-like wings who command a natural magic of song known simply as “Lyric Magic.” This form of magic is linked to the nature within which they call “home,” and they can sing to heal, protect, or ask for protection from the forests and nature around them.

They live in small clans located in the deepest, darkest woodland areas of the world and desire nothing but peace and to be left alone.

They are physically weak and rely on their magic to defend themselves. When their magic fails, they have no choice but to run.

* Nymphs

Nymphs are similar to Faeries in that they’re fully sized humanoids who live in pure harmony with nature. So much so that it’s a very defendable argument to say they’re more a part of nature than they are humanoid.

The Nymphs can hear the whispers of nature to know what it’s feeling, what it’s experiencing. Nature has a voice, and the Nymphs are the only ones who can actually hear it.

They often send envoys to various humanoid settlements and cities hoping to convince them to cease and desist in any acts against nature such as logging, over hunting, etc whenever nature says it is hurting. However their pleas often fall on deaf ears.

* Merfolk

The merfolk’s upper bodies are humanoid, and their lower bodies are that of fish-like mammalian tails with a horizontal fin. The merfolk typically keep to themselves in the oceans, but whenever their territory is trespassed upon they will fight viciously to defend it by both utilizing weapons and calling upon the nature of the deep to assist them in their efforts.

If you’ve ever heard of the Kraken, it’s a creature that attacks ships out to sea whenever the merfolk feel that their ocean home has been violated.

* Uranus

The uranus are the rough equivalent to nymphs in that, whereas nymphs hear the whispers of nature, the uranus can hear the whispers of the Earth and use those whispers to determine what kind of person is standing before them. You can lie to anyone’s face, but you cannot hide the truth from a uranus. They hear the whispers of the Earth in the dirt attached to your shoes, the grass beneath your feet, even the air that billows around your body will tell them the truth of who and what you are.

The uranus’ ability to hear the whispers of the Earth and determine truth from lies has turned them into natural born lie detectors in the employ of various humanoid races for their crime and punishment systems.

However… It has also made them a target for slavery and the sex trade in hopes of force-breeding with their captors in the hopes of producing offspring with the same abilities whom they can then bend to their will and use for more nefarious purposes.

* Miithii

The miithii are the shape-shifters of this RP world. They are humanoid most of the time to conserve energy, but they have at least two identifying traits of their animal side as well present at all times. Sometimes its the eyes, furry ears, a tail, wings, etc.

The miithii come blessed with what’s known as “Random Genetics,” meaning that even if two miithii of the same animalistic species copulate they are not guaranteed offspring with the same animal. Two wolf miithii, for instance, could copulate and birth an eagle miithii. Two crocodilian miithii could copulate and birth a spider miithii.

The miithii come in so many forms that, as a whole, they can transform into larger and more powerful versions of just about every animal on the planet be it a mammal, reptile, amphibian, insect, bird, or what have you.

The miithii tend to keep to their own and don’t engage other humanoids unless it’s to defend their territory. They don’t trust other humanoids, for obvious reasons.

* Orcs and Goblins

Orcs and goblins are essentially cousin species which came from the same evolutionary path, but split into two sides. The larger and more powerful orcs are notoriously aggressive to the point where they will seek war just for the purpose of the thrill of large-scale combat. The smaller goblins are more timid and hide away in dark caves to ambush unwary travelers.

Between the two, the orcs are far more dangerous and are usually avoided by other humanoid races. They tend to desire conflict far too much for the other races to tolerate them.

* Silthii

The hyenamen are part of a larger subcategory of Miithii known as the Silthii.

The silthii as a whole are essentially miithii, but different in that they are humanoid versions of their animal species. They don’t transform between the two. They are both at once.

The silthii, regardless of animal species, do not have random genetics like their miithii counterparts. Two of the same will always yield the same species as the parents. When two different silthii copulate, it’s a roughly 50/50 shot as to which of the parents the infant will take after. There are no “hybrids” in the silthii world.

Kobolds are also considered among the silthii race.
