just a few things about me:
i've had this idea for a while, but this is the first time i've written it up and my eyes are really strained right now so if anything doesn't make sense i'm super sorry and i hope it doesn't put you off. i usually write a lot better than this lmao.
the rp would start on the elven prince's birthday, aka the day he selects his deity.
i would prefer if you were to be the prince, and for me to be the deity. i was thinking for the rp to start as more of a choose-your-own-adventure type thing? where i write some descriptions of the shrines that the prince comes across, then you choose whichever shrine/god sounds most interesting or appealing to you, and i can use whichever oc i have for the deity you choose? idk man i feel like it would be more interesting than me just choosing. i don't know if i've explained the idea very well, so feel free to ask if you're still unsure lol.
i typically play male characters, so please keep in mind that most of the ocs i have for the deities are male. i'm happy to keep the rp platonic if you like, but i would really love to do a romantic rp with this idea if anyone is up for that?
please feel free to dm or reply to this thread if interested and if you have any questions!
- i am 16
- i live in the uk, so if you live in a different country my replies might be "out of sync" with your timezone? but honestly my sleep schedule is messed tf up anyways so it might not even be noticeable at times lmao
- i am a student, and i work part-time, so sometimes i might not reply for a day or two. i really try to keep my replies quick, but sometimes it's just not possible.
- following on from that, i understand that life is a lot sometimes and that rpnation may not be your number one priority lmao. it's fine if you're unable to reply for a few days. if i haven't heard from you in over a week, i may send a message just checking in to see if you're still interested in the rp.
- i am so bored man please somebody like this idea

The human race lost touch with magic long ago. They had witnessed the blessings it provided first-hand, the way it flowed through the soil and poured into every creature that graced it. They had witnessed the blessings, and had grown greedy. They became demanding, cutting down other living beings long before their time was up, then ignorantly insisting the magic provide them with a replacement as though it were so simple.
History books site this as the reason the humans went extinct. They say the human's actions weakened the magic, tearing it apart until it was forced to retreat into the very centre of the earth without a trace left behind to make the crops grow.
(There are careful whispers in the street sometimes, about how the magic's miraculous recovery was too improbable. About how it never became unable, just unwilling. about how it had become so infuriated with the humans' mistakes that it had simply stopped providing them with the air they breathed. No history book talks about that, though. They wouldn't dare, in fear they may fall pray to the same alleged fate.)
Earth is now dominated by a multitude of new races. Not too dissimilar to humans at first glance, but vastly different upon closer inspection. These new creatures don't make the same mistakes as their predecessors. They accept the magic however it may appear to them, expressing their gratitude regardless of any shortcomings they may experience. They don't take it for granted, and for that the magic rewards them with abilities humans never could've dreamed of possessing.
The magic had also graced them with a piece of knowledge it hadn't mentioned to the humans in fear of their reactions. It had spoken of a league of higher beings who lived in a place invisible to those lesser-than. Who could see their every move, change their fate however they pleased. It spoke of creatures who (mostly) wouldn't look out of place in a crowd, yet possessed unthinkable power. It spoke of Gods.
Elves were considered to be as close to direct descendants of the magic as a mortal being could be. On the first day of their existence, the magic had provided them with a book full of spells which only they were able to carry out. All elves specialised in a different form of magic, some clearly holding an affinity for healing magic, some seemingly able to bend earths flora to their every whim, so on and so forth, but all were taught every single spell in the book from a very young age.
In the early days, the elves had sought out the individual who seemingly had the strongest magical ability and crowned her queen, declaring her and her family royalty. It's said that same day, the Goddess of Light had appeared to the new queens daughter, offering her a hand which the young girl had hesitantly taken. The story goes that the princess had been whisked away to a place unknown by the elves, and upon her return, announced that she had been told of an ancient tradition in which those in line to the throne must select a deity to dedicate themselves, and their eventual ruling, to.
(She had also been told that her mother, the new queen, must either choose a deity immediately, give up the throne to her daughter, or face the consequences. The princess had decided to omit this information. The queen died 2 days after she had been crowned of a horrific disease never seen before or since, and the princess took her place, serving under the Goddess of Light. In a similar fashion, most people omit this detail from the story.)
Thousands of years down the line and the tradition is still continued. The current king and queen have 2 children, the eldest of which is about to turn 18. The community is buzzing with anticipation of who the elven prince will choose (and eagerly awaiting the undoubtedly huge celebration his parents will throw for his birthday).
