So the idea of like a national disaster occurring in the US, destroying the West, and the immediate after effects would be curiously interesting. Plus blending in the possibility of there being supernatural creatures (limited of course) or maybe a ghost element to throw a small town bordering the disaster zone would be fun. Just a big influx of people as refugees. Perhaps have a bounty hunter/supernatural hunter taking advantage of this. Obviously this would be character driven. I have three ideas and probably will play them out. Pagan and Ada as canine shifters and Slade a plain ole human carnival worker (not circus...there is a stark difference). But let me know if there are any other thoughts. I'll give overviews of each character and possibilities for characters in relation to them for further inspiration or ideas.
Slade is a thirty-six year old carnival worker. He grew up in rural Georgia to a Baptist mama and an abusive father. Older brother Jermayn was his hero as a child, always protecting him and showing Slade what a man was supposed to be like. However, his brother left for the military when Slade was fourteen. At sixteen, he ran away from home and was discovered by Dirty Al (now deceased) and from there joined the carnival. For the past 20 years that has been his life. He set up and tore down the tilt-a-whirl. There could be other carny survivors (though not many since Slade thinks he is now alone). He will be flown into the small town towards the beginning.
Ada and Pagan are sort of a complex duo.
Ada is an angsty rich girl by many means of the definition. At 18 she discovered that she wasn't normal when she shifted for the first time. Since than she has been on a mission to find her real father and people like her. It can get a little self-destructive at points but Pagan has always been there to save her. That's how they met actually. He stepped in before she was jumped in a back alley and since that point they have been like two peas in a pod. She views Pagan as the missing link to her real world...he? Well he has a lot of different emotional issues. Pagan comes from a traditional pack from Germany (typical pack like set up). He was destined to be Alpha by birthright BUT Pagan is somewhat mentally unstable. He is a bit of a psychopath. Doesn't feel emotions the way he is supposed to. Hears things that he isn't supposed to. Sees threats that aren't there. (Ada is like his rock in all the chaos). Anyways, he ran away from his pack ad his brother became the Alpha. There is bad blood there. He has hunters after him so that he can stand counsel for his actions.
