disabling non-essential admin alerts

Ixacise

Pull my devil trigger
I was wonder if it was possible to filter the alerts from the site to only include subscribed threads and important things pertaining to the site. And not have alerts about game streams, teamspeak, and other things I don't have interest in

Just as in media today, we, too, suffer from sensationalism and information overload.

It only got bad when admin got changed over and the teamspeak thing was being integrated or something and there was a long chain of alerts that weren't particularly important.

Even if they're currently not happening at such a rate I still hate them on principle

Just so we can be clear, how many of this non-essential alerts do you get in any given period and what are they about?

Today is the first day I send out an alert about a game in months.

Any alert you are getting are because you subbed to them.

teamspeak
I don't understand how you are getting an alert about teamspeak?

I keep getting alerts when dwiz posts threads , even if it's something I'm well known to hate/have nothing to do with. Odd really. I don't mind it though - only happened once or twice.

If it only happened once or twice, then you don't keep getting them. :P

I will say that this suggestion is a bit delayed for most of what you are complaining about. Especially if no alerts in particular have occurred recently except one event with a long chain of notifications that can be easily dismissed.

That being said, I don't think it is out of the question to look into options to possibly allow members to opt out of certain site notifications (something like the Chat on the Index option, maybe). We will probably have a discussion about alerts in general as an Administration.

But I am not subbed to anything but my threads.

As for teamspeak I believe it pertained to the implementation process and some bugs along the way. Along with some alerts advertising on how to use it?

Anyway at the worst it was at least 20+ of them. Now it might be up to like 5. Still for future purposes it might be nice to disable admin based alerts should there be a long string of them. And the opting out of alerts like the streams, steam FOTM shilling, and other non-essential stuff

We are looking into features to possibly opt out of community advertisements. We will get back to you when we know what is up.
