Digimon Adventure-inspired ♦ 7 characters) ♦ American Digidestined
I can tell you that you are chosen to help save our world. You and those five others, who not--so-coincidentally, will find yourselves serving as camp counselors nearly five hundred miles away from The Incident. You all are nearly out of junior high school -- actually, you all should be around fourteen now, right? Yeah, that lines up perfectly.
Oh? My name? I’m sorry, I had completely forgot. I’m Jericho. Jericho Watson.
But who I am isn’t as important as what I can do for you.
In reading this Email, I hope you believe me or else I imagine your surprise will be most unpleasant. Just know ...you are the only hope. For your world and mine…
Yeah, six years ago there was a sighting of two giant monsters that attacked the small town of Ridgewood, Utah. A town, which hosts less than 1500 residents, made waves. Or it should have. Truth be told, the sighting was only popular on conspiracy sites. The same sights that claim bigfoot is a Bollywood sensation and the Loch Ness invented Toaster Strudel.
Nobody believed the six kids who swore they saw a red dinosaur with green scales going down back and tail fight a flying praying mantis-esque monster with long sickle-like blades for arms

Some might’ve shrugged it off while others stood firm on the belief that they saw two monsters fight for nearly seven minutes, with each getting their own licks in until a hole in the sky opened up and that was when the weirdness began.
Instead of what you might expect -- which, really, who could prepare for that -- a beam of “light” (instead of it being actual light, it was barcode and ones and zeroes) shot down from the center of the tear, latching onto both monsters. Their limbs were slowly absorbed into the light and their bodies disappeared into it. And about a minute later, the tower of “light” was gone, the rip had faded, and everything went back to normal.
But it wasn’t normal. It was never going to be normal. The six kids who didn’t know each other, who all watched it from their own neighborhoods -- they weren’t normal. They were special and, they didn’t know it at the time, but they were chosen to save two worlds. They were the Digidestined.
Yo wassup! The name’s Wayward Son and this is a little pet project of mine. I absolutely love the Digimon Adventure 01 lore. It might be classic and, at times, overdone, but there’s always something special about it, but I’ve also loved the idea of American digidestined. I think a lot of the core aspects of the original series can stay with the main exception being that we are set in Utah as opposed to how the original was in Japan. Now, of course since this is adventure-inspired/leaning, the crests will be a factor. This will also be roughly based around the current real-life year (I want to go with summer of 2021), but exclude real life events (poltiics, rona, etc).
About Crests:
To put it simply, I will be excluding plot-heavy crests, so the likes of miracles, destiny, light, and hope are likely out of the question. Instead, the base seven will be your typical six: courage, friendship, love, knowledge, reliability, and sincerity. To complete the seven, kindness will be the seventh. Also keep in mind that the crest names and whatnot are based off of the English Dub names, as I know a couple of them have different names in the original. Also every crest will be staying the same color as seen in official media: crest of courage is orange, crest of friendship is blue, crest of love is red, etc.
About the “Gogglehead” Trope
While I acknowledge it is a big part of digimon lore, for a group roleplay it doesn’t necessarily speak inclusion, so should someone want to have a character with a pair of goggles, you are free to do so (I might even do that if i feel like it), but they won’t be the designated “team leader”. Every character will have the opportunity to show their leadership qualities and if it’s an organic fit, then obviously in-character, the characters will choose them as the leader.
About OC Digimon
To put it bluntly, not exactly a fan of them. Honestly, I’m not going to allow oc digimon purely because I’ve had bad experiences with them and there are so many digimon (including variants of popular ones) that can easily fit the bill. It’s the same if this were a Pokemon roleplay.
About Posting pacing and length
I’m not in any rush. Posting length, you can satisfy me with two paragraphs (that’s the minimum). You don’t have to be an english major or even someone with perfect grammar. We love baseline coherency in this house. As far as pacing, I’m coming off of a bit of a hiatus from roleplaying and writing in general, so I’m not looking for anything too demanding. If you can’t post for a few days, then that’s fine. If you’re more than a week, then just give us some notice and you’ll be all kosher in my book!
About Digivices
I have always loved the original digivice design, but because this is set in modern times, I will be instead using the sleaker design seen in the 2020 reboot series. It bears the same design overall, but it’s more polished. It’ll function the same, however.
About Evolution Lines
I’m not a stickler for evo lines. My only request is to avoid Digimon Sovereign and X-Antibody digimon. No, that doesn't include digimon who possess the x-antibody naturally like Dorumon and FanBeemon (they’re both kickass digimon with equally badass lines). I mean the Agumon X and any digimon that has an x at the end of its names. It’s a personal preference of mine and not one I’ll be willing to change. As long as the line makes some sense from whatever place you’re coming from, then i won’t have any problems with it!
